TEA New Campus Input Day
June 1, 2015
Overview
The goal of the June 1st, 2015 TEA Input Day was for the new TEA campus project design team to gather feedback from the students, parents, faculty and staff on what elements they wanted to see in their new school.
The feedback collected will help the design team create an exciting outcome that serves this unique school community.
Following is a summary of the ideas collected during the day. The design team met with students from 8am to 4pm in small groups to gather ideas. Parents and staff also had a chance to share ideas with the team throughout the day.
Main Themes
● Animal area (animal sanctuary, petting zoo, etc.)
● Garden/greenhouse
● Kitchen for student use (farm to table)
● Meditation space
● Teepees
● Treehouse
● Trampoline
● Students to help build
● Sustainable building + solar panels
● Zip-line / Ropes course
1st Grade Input
● Caves and secret passageways
● Energy room (to dispense energy when too energetic in class)
● Indoor playground
● “In-trouble” room
● Sewing room
● Teacher’s lounge with hot tub and foot massage
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Input
● Archery range
● Craft station at recess
● Dodgeball course
● Grass roof
● Halfpipe for skateboards, bikes, and skis
● Hammocks
● Outdoor stage
Middle School Student Input
● Café
● Community bikes
● Glass dome on the roof

● A no-adult room

Next Steps
• Architects will review and process input to further flesh a campus vision featuring design elements specific to our school needs.
• Public and additional parent feedback will be collected at the June 17th workshops in Truckee.
