NOTICE OF CANCELLATION1992 BORDERLAND SCIENCES CONGRESS

A Message from BSRF Director Tom BrownIssued April 30 1992

It is with regret that I announce the cancella-tion of the Second International BorderlandSciences Congress in Berkeley California, sched-uled to take place july 30 through August 2, 1992.The basic reason for the cancellation is the lack offunds due to the lack of sign-ups. After a six-monthperiod since our first notice of the event and themailing of over I 5,000 announcements we havecurrently eight registered sign-ups, a ninth havingalready cancelled due to personal reasons, and fiverooms reserved at the Shattuck Hotel in Berkeley.Being at the point where we need $7,500 immedi-ately to proceed with the function (congress sitedeposits, plane fares, etc.) we have no choice but tomake the best overall decision and cancel the event.Because of our timing on cancelling the BerkeleyConference Center is not pressing for any penaltyfees (and many thanks to them ). We are not in aposition to lose any money

Our intent in organizing this congress was topromote the concept of re-uniting Science and Art,two areas of human endeavor that have beenseparated through the general advance of ourtechnological civilization. The many speakersinvited are each like a facet on a jewel, each givingtheir perspectives, or perhaps like the proverbialsix blind men with the elephant-- each seeing adifferent part of the structure. We still promotethis path of work, i t is essential that Art and Sci-ence merge if there is to be any hope for a futurelife-positive approach to human discovery. It is justthat this congress hasn't generated the requiredfinancial momentum to be pulled off, even afterworking far in advance to make sure things workedright.

Many will think of this cancellation as a set-back. Here at BSRF we do not view it in thatmanner, we consider it to be a learning experience. There has been quite a bit of interest in this con-gress, the speakers have been looking forward to

presenting their ideas, and quite a number of

speakers beyond our original slate have beenseeking to give presentations. Also, many requestshave been coming in from people who want t benotified when the videotapes of the presentationswill be available and i f we will publish the papers. There just hasn't been the necessary interest frompeople willing to spend money to attend the event. So to read the writing on the wall we see thatthere are many independent researchers withvaluable insights into the enlightened realms ofscience who wish to present their findings, andthere are many people who want this informationbut cannot come up with the necessary monies forconference fees, plane fares, hotel fees, etc., but arevery willing to purchase t i ~information in a low-cost format.

We are going to move forward and work withthe many researchers interacting with BSRF tpromote their ideas in written and video format.

Perhaps in the future we will do smaller workshopsfocusing on specific topics, but at this point we arenot planning any public events. Our focus is t beon continuing our own personal researches whic:h will be reported on in the joumal o f BorderlandResearch, and to continue to provide a forum forindependent researchers who wish t spread theinformation they have discovered.

Each step in life is a learning experience. Wehave learned from this and we apologize for anyinconvenience i t has caused the eight people whohave signed up (who are being sent full refunds),and also to the fine researchers who have agreed togive their time to giving public presentations oftheir work. We look forward to working with allof you in the future.

All of us at BSRF feel that this decision is in thebest interest of the foundation and its members. Ifanyone has any questions or comments on thisdecision please contact me at P.O. Box 429, Gar-berville CA 95440, or (707) 986-7211, fax

    .

In the short time span of roughly 15hours, Humboldt County California experienced three major earthquakes. April 25th,1992 at 11:06 am - earthquake measures 6.9ontheRichterscale; April 26th, 1992at 12:42

m earthquake measures 6.3 on the Richterscale; and at 4 : 1 9 a m - another earthquakemeasures 6.5 on the Richter scale. The epicenter o f hese quakes was in each case nearPetrolia, California, and they were felt fromjust past the Oregon bord er all the way downto some parts of San Francisco. An estimated

$60,000,000 in damage reported, with thelocal towns of Petrolia, Scotia, Rio Dell, andFerndale very heavily damaged.

I have never felt tremors that could evencompare to the sheer power unleashed bythese quakes. Here, in the areas surroundingGarberville, California, these quakes werestrong indeed and many long time locals saidthey never felt anything that could even matchone of hese. Some people are leaving.

Well, I do not wish to downplay thedevastation to the area or to our emotionalwell-being, but we here at Borderland areresearchers and of course these incidents af-

forded the opportunity for analysis. The following then is an examination o f experimentsprior to, during and after these incredibletelluric events with a complete summary o fmy experiences.

During the last few months I had beenengaged in research pertaining directly toearth energies. These experiments were wideranging covering many facets o f the properties of he earth itself. The firSt of hese wereconcerned with the possibilities o f drawingpotentials of energy from the earth and experiments dealing with radio wave propagation tbru the natural medium (earth). Whilethis was interesting and rewarding work, Ifound myself more fascinated with he idea oflistening to these ear th energies. My monitoring systt m very simply included the use oftwo rods placed in the ground and connectedto an audio amplifier. Although I had developed a ftltering arrangement, I preferred listening to all of the frequencies possible(approx. 0 to 20,000 KC). These experimentswere set up to record all of he various soundsemanating from the earth itself. What I foundmost interesting was that the sounds I obtained were the same as those attributed to theatmosphere (called sferics). In an attempt tocorrelate these fmdings I rigged up several

types of antennas used for VLF reception andfound that the signal was much stronger withthe ground rods (the rods also defeated a lot ofartificial electrical noise). This fact led me tothe belief hat these sounds actually originatein the earth. To make sure I was not misled,I used very short wires connected to copperscreens buried deep in the soil completelynegating any antenna effect and the resultswere the same (the dog decided the screens didnot belong there and promptly dug them up).

One of he things I was very interested in

hearing were the so called 'whistlers,. Thesesounds can be heard in the VLF range and areattributed to distant lightning. The idea is thatlightning generated on one part of the globetransmits these whistling sounds to anotherpart of the globe via the earth/ionospherewaveguide, with the lightning bolt itselfbeingthe transmitting antenna. After my earlierexperiments with earthly electrical potentialsand in radio wave propagation thru the naturalmedium, I was sure that I would fmd thesesounds in the earth as well, an d that they, too, were truly a product o f elluric emanation. Inthis case the lightning would need to actually

strike the earth for proper transmission tooccur. It was discouraging at firSt for I didreceive these sounds but they were very faintand for days at a time none at all would appear- until the earthquakes.

After being thrown about by the frrstquake- the 6.9, and after the initial shock hadsubsided, I immediately began to recount anyanomalous occurrences that had taken placeprior to the event. At once I rememberedtelling people of the incredibly loud, almostsubsonic sounds which had awakened me twonights earlier. These very low tones seemed tooriginate from the North and came in threedistinct bursts. After this happened I couldnot sleep the rest of he night. No one I relatedthis to on the following day had b een aware ofthe same sounds. I also noted the abundanceof wildlife out on the roads on the eveningprior to the firSt quake. This wasn t the usualnumber of deer or domestic animals normallyencountered; it was the bounty o f strangercreatures such as opossum and skunks thatcaused me to relate my observations to others.Another peculiarity was the presence of theso-called 'earthquake weather' all during theinterval of earth activity. Everything becamequite still and the air had thickened as i f ainswere forthcoming but with no attendance of

Page 2 May June 1992 Journal o orderland esearch

humidity. Looking about the c o u n t r y s imyself and others noted the presence of lcertain darkness issuing forth from the grouncand trees, and the early evening ushered in ~most foreboding blackened clouds. We kneVIsomething was still there.

Upon arriving home after a long drive UJnorth on the day of the firSt quake I directl)began to record the sounds of he earth M3reasons for setting up the equipment were foJthe possibility of recording the sounds o :aftershocks related o the fmt quake. It wasn' 'long after the 1nachine had started that I hear_5tter than Tesla had calculatedwas possible and over 200 times better thanthe photovoltaic syst ems commercially available today.

So, what happened o this technical breakthrough? Unbelievable, but true, the fundraisers o f he group were siphoning off nvestment capital to buy land and the FBI had beenwatching them closely. The technical teamcouldn't understand why they were beingdelayed constantly by the fund raisers whocould only raise funds during the research anddevelopment stage of he project . Finally, ina sneak move to finish, the technical teamworked around the clock for days, culminating in the test of he system. The next morning, the FBI raided the installation with warrants charging the fund raisers with fraud. Theequipment was confisca ted and the technicalteam dispersed. I got this story from a formermember of he technical team.

In spite of he intrigue involved, this solarassisted heat pump system is a prov en methodof large scale Free Energy there for thetaking. It could be redeveloped for less than$250,000.

This brings me to the topic o f a differentsolar assisted heat pump system being advocated by that notorious salesman named Den-nis Lee and his company C.O.N.S.E.R.V.E.Financial Services. He has surfaced again, this time operating out of Seattle, Washington, after spending some time in jail in California. He is currently selling an informationpackage for $59.95 that includes video tapesand printed materials o f systems that weredeveloped years ago. He has never deliveredan operating free energy system to anyone, but he has raised million$ of dollar$ to do it.His literature looks great and all you have todo is call an 800-number to fmd out. Well, don't bother. The video tapes show nothingthat is scientifi cally conclusive and the rest isjust Dennis Lee ranting about all the injusticeshe has been subjected to. Having seen thisman operate on a large crowd, I believe thatmost o f the injustices he has been subjected to were self-induced. He is primaril y a' 'sales type'' of personalit y with only limitedtechnical understanding about the systems heis promoting. I saw him constantly exagger-

    17/32

ate, misstate, or otherwise garble most of hetechnical discussion involving specific efficiencies or timetables when the equipmentwould be available. Also, the technical package I bought from him did not contain all o f

the information he claimed it did. I personallybelieve that Dennis Lee has hurt the ' 'FreeEnergy'' movement in general and the interest in solar assisted heat pumps in particular. This is best illustrated by the fact that when Icalled one o f the companies that build the' 'flat plate evaporator s'' that his system usesand told them that I was involved with DennisLee, they hung up They didn't even want mybusiness. Dennis Lee promotes the use oftheir product constantly, and they hate it.Either they are doing very well, or it sayssomething about Dennis Lee. I 've includedthis information because I hope to stir up

interest in solar assisted heat pumps whilehelping you steer clear of Dennis Lee and hiscompany C.O.N.S.E.R.V.E. Financial Services.

And i f all this controversy is not enough, let's get into all the bru-ha-ha about FREON.

s most of you may know, freon is one ofthose nasty chemicals, CFC 's, that is supposedly destroying the OZONE layer in the upperatmosphere. While this may be true, it is notclear why the media continually ignores otherpotential sources of chlorine and bromine inthe upper atmosphere. Confidentia l sourcestell me that the solid rocket boosters used by

the NASA Space Shuttle are a chlorine basedcompound and that each launch laces theupper atmosphere with large amounts of ozonedestroying chlorine. To be sure, most of thedestruction of the ozone layer has happenedduring the period of he Space Shuttle flights. While I haven't gotten to the bottom of his, itis interesting to see that just as the best use offreon is being discovered for lise in solarassisted heat pumps, it is being rapidly withdrawn from commercial availability. IfCFC' sare contributors to the destruction of he ozone, their production must stop. In hat case, I hopethat other compounds can be developed with

very low boiling points to replace them so thatdevelopment of solar assisted heat pumps cancontinue.

Until that time, we may have to look else

where for efficient heat engine technology. For instance, back in the 1970s, Ford MotorCo. developed a four cylinder Stirling ( external combustion) engine that out performedtheir 350 cubic inch V -8 in every way. It had

4 cylinders with a 200 cubic inch displacement and u sed hydrogen gas as the workingfluid. It had only half as many moving partsand produced 190 hp at 1800 rpm. It got 75miles per gallon on regular gasoline, but couldbe adapted to burn any combustible liquid, from kerosene to martinis. Ford even published a book on the test results which I haveseen. s you may have already guessed, thisexcellent heat engine was never mass produced.

So, what is a heat engine? Heat enginesare really very simple. T he principles for theiroperation were fJ St published by a French

physicistnamedNicolasCarnotin 1824. Theyrun on a mechanical energy to heat exchangeprocess known today as the Carnot Cycle. Ingeneral, it works like this. Some workingfluid is heated and allowed t o expand, delivering some useful work. Then the working fluidis cooled, compressed, and delivered back tothe heater for re-expansion to start the cycleover. Some of he heat of expansion is con-verted'' to mechanical work as a useful outputbecause the working fluid requires less workto compress when it is cool than the amount ofwork it can deliver under pressure when it ishot. This is essentially how the heat pump

systems work. Heat engines usually operatewith a working fluid that is repeatedly heatedand cooled, expanded and compressed in aclosed cycle. Heat is simply transferred to andfrom the working fluid from the outside of heengine. T hat is why they are sometimes calledexternal combustion engines when run onfossil fuels, because the fuel is burned outsideof the engine. But the internal combustionengine that powers your car is also a heatengine, and it operates on most of the sameprinciples. The main difference is that the

working fluid is a combustible air/fuelmixture that can only be used once and then

discarded. This is an example of an opencycle heat engine. It is also possible to imagine an open

cycle heat engine that uses the sun as the

source ofheat and ordinary air as the workingfluid. While the efficiency of such a systemwill be far below our solar assisted heat pumpdescribed before, it will allow us to get awayfrom problem chemicals like CFC's and go

lowtech allatthesametime. One examplemight look like this. A large chamber iscreated underground to cool incoming air. Airis then drawn from this cooling chamber andcompressed 10:1 by a Tesla turbine stylepump and delivered to an area that heats the airwith solar energy. T he o ~compressed air isallowed to reach a certa in presSure and then isreleased through a second Tesla turbine forpower production. The po wer turbine drivesthe compressor turbine and some other outputappliance, like a combination starter motorand output generator. s a stationary powerplant, size is not a significant factor, so the

unit could be designed to move large volumesof air slowly to reduce losses to friction. Thiswould also allow for efficient cooling andheating of the air. The system is mostlypassive, uses air as the working fluid and hasonly two moving parts, the turbines. Theefficiency of such a solar engine might beincreased even more by further cooling theincoming air With a fme mist of water beforecompressing it. This would also help toincrease the pressure at the hot end with thegreater likelihood of added steam production.A typical hp turbine uses about 40 cubic feetof 100 psi air per minute at 3000 rpm. If he

cooling and heating areas had 200 cubic feetof capacity each, the air would have minutesto cool ofT and another minutes to heat up.The temperature difference between these twoareas could easily attain 200 degrees on asunny day to drive the system. I could go onand on describing this system, but I think youget the general idea.

There are lots of other possibilities forheat engines using solar energy that don'tneed special compounds like freon. Some areeven ' ' low tech'' like the example just given.Well, that's enough for now. But, if any ofyou energy buffs out there have a good idea,

let us know. We would be glad to evaluateyour project, offer advice, or direct you toothers who share your interests. 'Til nexttime, keep thinkin'.

Without recognizing the sphericalshape of traveling 1/2 wavelength diameter units o f magnetic energy, scientistsand engineers often put a sphere througha square or rectangular wave guide. Around metal pipe with smooth interiorbounce surfaces slightly larger than the2 wavelength worked best in my limitedtesting i f simply transporting magneticenergy was the primary interest. Runningan 11 inch sphere through a 14 inch pipewas about the best. The fullwavelength ofthat 1/2 wavelength spherical size wouldbe 22 inches. The signal in the tube wasflat (no highs or lows).

These figures are close, but not designed for precise engineering. Highs andlows appeared in larger diameter tubes.

Reducing the 14 inch pipe to 12 inches,I lost 1/2 my signal. 65% of the fullwavelength may be a good rule of humb, while 70 may be necessary fora squeezed

up rectangular tube. The magnetic lines of force perpendicular to an imaginary pole runningthrough the center of he magnetic sphere

will not tolerate a tight fit in a tube, whilethe pole ends can be squeezed considerably without any great loss. This squeezing must increase the circumferencearound the equator of he sphere, as Winston E. Kock, in his booklet Sound Wavesand Light Waves says that the energypassing through a wave guide speeds up.Expansion of he spherical unit around the

equator I believe would cause a speed upin a narrow rectangular wave guide. Thisspeed should return to normal upon leaving the wave guide, and returning to theshape of a perfect sphere .

Being narrow, less than the 1/2 wavelength the narrow way, and ample room toaccommodate the expanded equator ofthe magnetic sphere the long way of therectangle, the spheres of energy cannotrotate polarity.

In his video experiment he proves his theory and simply explains it fo1the layperson to understand. By placing chicken wire of varying sizes over nsatellite dish, Larry is able to measure the size of different units of energy ancdetermine their spherical shape. FIELD GENERATORSby R. F. Directo

    INTRODUCI'IONThe experimental procedure presented

herein is a guideline for drawing negativecharges from a grounded source of metal to anattraction field which conducts the flow to anapplication circuit. The potential ofthissourc eis on the order of several thousand volts andthe current, from a few milliamps up to oneAmp Depending on your area and groundedsource up to 25 watts and more is possiblewith an optimum configuration. You can usethis project to power appliances or charge

; batteries. Free yourself from the power company Get Busy

    DISCLAIMERCAOROP Projects takes no responsibil

ity in any independent workmanship of thisproject and cannot guarantee satisfactory output from individual geographically randomconstruction of said device.

LEGAL WAIVERThe following experimental project must

be kept in a well ventilated area. This devicecan draw sudden concentrated bolts ofenergy

such as ightning i t h r ~or from ifoundespecially in areas where such atmospheric orman made charges are concentrated. Exposure of this device to any form ofradiation (e.g. X-rays) can also lead ~trous results. Be forewarned Please read thisentire manual before attempting constructionof the Reverse Potential Field Generator.CAOROP Projects takes no responsibility forany form of damage or injury resulting fromirresponsible construction or supervision of

    > thisexperimentaldevice. Accej>tanceoftheseplans warrants this on your part.

On this note we wish you success in

coming another step closer towards self sufficiency.

    (Field Generator= F.G.)

WORK AREAYou must consider the working area for

the F.G. It can vary anywhere from approximately 1' x 2'x 3" to 4 x 8' x? This area shouldbe unenclosed by metal walls, floor, or ceiling, be spacious, as dry as possibly, and haveaccess to a dry, grounded metallic structure(e.g. gas pipe) and access to a wet, groundedmetallic structure (e.g. cold water pipe) bymeans of a heavy electrical connection . This

space must be well ventilated allowing no

accumulation of dead air .As you can imagine this will be a rectan

gular structure which can be laid flat or on itsside, attached to heavy gauge wires at one endand an electrical load at the other.

FIELD GENERATOR: MATERIALSThe Field Generator consists basically of

alternating layers of light, organic materialand ferromagnetic material (iron sheets areideal).

The Yl fibrous building board made by

Celotex at your local hardware store servesthis purpose best. (but i f your area is especially humid you may also use W styrofoamsheets- found next to the building board.)

You may fmd iron sheets at your localmetal scr ap yard, hobby shop, ironworks, orlab supply. I f unobtainable, then use galvanized steel flashing or steel wool. Steel wooltends to be the least expensive of he three, yetalmost as effective as iron. Buy the fmest(#0000). It will be unrolled, kept fluffy, andapplied with no overlapping (except for twolayers of more at the centre ofthe F.G.).

You will also be laying a trace of copper

on the (in)organic layers for conduction. Bareor wrapped wires are OK, but a copper platetrace tends to increase the strength of theoutput. Copper plates can be found at thehobby shop or lab supply in small stock. I fyou can fmd copper strip in rolls, 1' wide ormore, then please use it

Heavy gauge wires (i.e. batter cable size)will be connected to the F G. from the wet anddry grounds. The copper trace will conductfrom these wires to the application circuitthrough the F.G.

    FIELD GENERATOR: DIMENSIONS

CAOROP researchers have found thatcutting the F.G. to certain dimensions ratherthan at random will tend to increase fieldstrength thus power output:

    FIG 1 AB=AD=BC=370MM (14.58")AE =5 2 4MM (20.62")(AEC is copper trace)

You may change the size of he arrangement proportionally to the dimensions given.Increasing the size will increase the influenceand current strength. The copper trace alongAEC can be a copper strip as small as 1 wide,

planted along these diagonals, will gain maximum influence from the F.G.

FIELD GENERATOR: CONSTRUCfi ONAfter cutting th e panels to proper size you

Spray-on adhesive is OK, but the panelglue found in hardware stores is m ore dependable and less expensive. (A little goes a long

way, so don't make a mess ) Panel glue canserve all the adhesive attachments in thisproject.

Although iron sheets give the best resultsin this system you may fmd them too cumbersome to deal with or difficult to locate. I f not, adhere the iron in only one sheet layer perpanel with panel glue.

Apply steel wool (#0000) rolled outstraight and uniform (no overlapping) withglue or/and long steel staples. Do not compress the steel wool - the exposed surface ofsteel wool helps to increase field strengthYou may also apply one layer of galvanized

sheet steel before the steel wool, JlQ1after, toleave the wool fluffy. The copper trace mustnot touch t he ferromagnetic material, so youmay use a thin insulative material like plasticfood wrap.

The attraction field produced is wavy, butpredicable. The asymtotic nodes of energyoccur at N(i)=N(i-1)+N(i-2) as peaks of energy. This is simply the Fibonacci serieswhere any number in the series equals theaddition of he two numbers preceding it. Dothe spacing in millimetres.

BOOK UP & TEST CIRCUITThe electrical components for the test

circuit must be able to handle at least 5,000volts. Your local electronics surplus maycarry these items inexpensively, but they arefew in number:

    FIG.4

The tuning capacitor is a high voltage,air-plate capacitor of one farad or greater orgreater. It will be used for tuning-in theoptimum charge frequency from your particular ground structure. You can put an electrolytic capacitor with matched value in its place. The diode is a zener and the inductor should beat least henrys. The componentry should allbe high power to handle at least 2 watts.

You may, of course, use lower powercomponents i f high power is not your objective (i.e. in the case o f charging batteries).

The F G. will need a choke coil at the dryground. You must use a large coil here whichis a heavy gauge wire wrapped 17 times ormore around a ferromagnetic donut of at least5 in diameter. (Fig. 5)

The attached inductors will represent aninductive influence. In the case that thecurrent is not strong enough to motivate satisfactorily, induction switches may be used fora direct link-up. (Fig. 6)

An inductive circuit is much safer fromelectrical hazard thana direct connection which

should only be used if even the best fieldgenerator you make does not produce a promising output. The inductive connection can bea double antenna coil or a 1:1 transformer.Upon tuning in the best value you can replacethe tuning capacitor with an electrolytic ortwo in series to increase voltage. (Fig. 7)

Either circuit is good for battery charging, but for not you may want to increase thefield strength.

    MULTIPLE LAYEREDFIELD GENERATOR

Multiple layers tend to increase fieldstrength, thus power. Copper traces can beadded to the other panels in a ratio accordingto the Fibonacci series for an optimum effect.Let us assume a five layer generator. (Fig. 8)

Only one trace for the upper and lower setof panels is required, but the above type o fconfiguration allows the aforementioned mini-mal dimensions to achieve the same fieldstrength as a single layer ' 'draw' ' which isfour times larger. (i.e. a 370mm x 740mm xSlayer F.G. vs. a 1480mmx 2960mm x l layerF.G.)

When using multiple traces always install the lesser number in the pane s leading to

More Earth EnergiesHere is another design of an earth energy generating device

patented by G. F. Dieckmann in 1885. (This and several other 19thcentury earth battery patents were grac iously submitted to us byBSRF Associate Gerry Vassilatos). In this layout, two sheets ofmetals (one copper and one zinc) are rolled up into a spiral with aninsulating material of felt or other suitable non-conducting material between them. The negative plate of each couple is thenconnected to the positive plate of he next thru the series, and thenplaced in the earth with a fairly large distance between eachcouple. The distance they are to be set apart is dependant upon theresistance of he working circuit. Also shown is the device s usein a telegraphic circuit.

This design has some unique qualities not found in other earthbattery systems. The fll'St, of course, is its spiral configuration. This has been adopted by some researchers in the construction oforgone accumulators to great effect an d it is well known that theproperties of he spiral are conducive to the reception of he vitalenergies (remember Nikola Testa s affinity for flat spiral coils asevidenced in so many of his patents).

So it is with this patent that we may see miraculous combinatoryintuitions later found in the works ofReich (layering of eflectiveand non-reflective materials), the spiraling coils ofTesla, and theages-old idea of drawing upon the telluric potencies of MotherEarth. The forces at work in this design (note the radionic pattern)and in the Field Generator are seemingly more complex than thetypically retarded actions of galvanic batteries which manifesttheir energy from the chemical reactions of dissimilar metalsimmersed in toxic solutions. Alas, the beauty lies in their unabashed simplicity and we know it is simplicity which will nearlyalways deliver us closer to the truth. MBT

Do wireless signals fly through spaceby means o f so-called Hertzian waves in theether, or are they propagated hru the earth atprodigious velocity by means o f earth-boundoscillations? .. Tesla maintains that wirelesscommunication is accomplish ed ONLY thruthe medium o f he earth itself His contentionseems very sound. f t were not so, let everywireless station, commercial or otherwise, doaway with its ground connection. None couldthen operate as is well known, exce pt perhapsover very limited distances.

This quotation comes directly from theeditors of he ElectricalExperimenter, Feb.1919 at the heading ofan article by NikolaTesla entitled Famous

known but misunderstood Schumann Cavity. He simply says that the powerful waves created in 1899 by Nikola Tesla s device inColorado Springs, once generated, wouldencircle the earth... and that this power iscurrently viewed as accumulated in the resonant cavity between the ionosphere andground. It may be that Mr Kovac has neverseen the article Famous Scientific illusio ns byNikola Tesla but even if he had read furtherthan the ftrst few pages of Colorado SpringsNotes, he certainly wouldn t have needed topublish this prevarication. In order to clarifYMr Tesla s true intentions, here are some

The article, called ThePower Wave by Ron Kovac, is one of he mosterroneous pieces of creative writing I haveever come across. It is pure science ftction. Now, I am not knocking these two well-donepublications for running the article, but I feelit necessary to set the record straight once andfor all. First, let us review some of theincredible fallacies and fantasies presented inthis bogus composition by Mr Kovac. He

starts by giving an explanation of the well

excerpts from Part III of Famous Scientificillusions by Nikola Tesla, entitled The Singular Misconception o f he Wireless:

In the course of development of my induction motors it became desirable to operatethem at high speeds and for this purpose Iconstructed alternators of relatively high frequencies. The striking behavior of the cur-rents soon captivated my attention and in 1899I started a systematic investigation of theirproperties and the possibilities of practicalapplicat ion. The. first gratifying result of myefforts in this direction was the transmission ofelectrical energy thru one wire without return,

However incredible, it is true that t ~minds of some of the ablest experts have beefrom the beginning, and still are, obsessed bthis monstrous idea, [the Hertz system) and 1it comes that the true wireless art, to whichlaid the foundation in 1893, ha s been retardein its development for twenty years.

These men labor under the impressivthat energy flows in all directions and thatherefore, only a minute amount can be reco, ered in any individual receiver. But this is ~from being so. The power is conveyed in onlone direction, from the transmitter to t1receiver, and none of it is lost elsewhere.

has nothing what so ever to do with the absurdnotions presented in Ron Kovac's article. And,his is not the only article that I have comeacross with the author claiming insights intoTesla's secrets. Most adhere to the same misconceptions, and are too numerous to mention.

Initially, I was drawn to these conceptsabout Tesla's wireless from the researches ofEric Dollard, and my verifYing mind led meback to the original sources which were, needI say, in complete agreement. Mr. Dollard'swork has included the successful re-creationof a number ofTesla' s experiments, many ofwhich have been captured on video. He is alsothe author of five books related to the subject.

George Trinlcaus, in his book Tesla -The Lost Inventions (High Voltage Press,Portland, Oregon) devotes two chapters toTesta's magnifYing transmitter, undeniablyconftrming the ground system.

BRUSHLESS SOLAR MOTORSMr. Spring's article Mendocino

The idea of eplacing the communicator employed to convey a current tothe armature coils in an electric motoremploying a permanent magnet statoris hardly novel. I personally encountered a Western Electric patent on this

Unfortunately I cannot easily locate a copy of his patent in my personalfiles. As I recall it was issued in the1940s or the early 1950s. I used it as abasis for an exercise in drafting patentclaims in bar review courses I taughtfor would be patent attorneys and agentsin the 1960s. His experiments into the size andshape of electromagnetic energy propagation are a quite interesting probe beyond our current understandin gs, and arecertainly a piece of the puzzl e we are alltrying to figure. We ran the BrushlessMotor article on Larry s request as hedidn't know i f it was patented yet andwanted to make sure it was in the publicdomain.

While being on tint subject of ourdirection I would like to add that much ofwhat has been going into the Journallately comes from a more mechanisticviewpoint than is usually propagated inthe pages here. Articles on the ether areoriented toward physical measurement of

a physical (or semi-physical) substratum. We provide a rare outlet for these etherresearchers, but our own orientation istowards the qualitative ethers, as indicated in Rudol f Steiner s work. Sometimes it seems as though we spend somuch time putting everyone else s ideastogether that we have scant time for ourown. But we have a commitment toprovide a forum for members so you canview the Journal as the current barometerof what is flowing thorugh our offices. We certainly appreciate thoughtful criticism, both positive and negative, as that sone way we all learn.

Thanks for the gracious compliment.Check out the inter-library loan networkthru your local public library as theyshould be able to obtain several titles onthe subject of colloidal chemistry. Anyfurther info we receive from BSRF Members we'll put in this column . If anyonehas any old books on the subject perhapswe could reprint limited numbers for researchers.

    THANKS

Just a note to congratulate you on thewonderful job you are doing. I haveseen tremendous growth in BSRF sinceyou came on board. MODIFIED DROWN RATESIn your book Radionics, The New

Age Science I noticed that the instructions given by Dr. Leonard Chapmaninterviewed by Riley Hansard Crabbwere incomplete. For instance, on page28 and on page 49 the liver rate is givenas 481-82-W -38. On page 19 is a diagram of the Modified Drown Circuit. The first number 481 is obtained byusing rotary switches 1,2,3 making atotal sum of 481 ohms . The next number 82 is obtained by variable resistor

    4. Next theW (white) is obtained bythe color dial. What switches does aperson use to obtain the last number 38,since rotary switch 7 is 100 ohms androtary switch# 8 is 10 ohms, or is it thata person uses 5 or 6 switches. H suchis obtained by the 7& 8 switches, thenwhat is the purpose of the #5&6 rotaryswitches and vice versa, as I can see nouse for them in all of the rates given

from pages 37-56. How do I obtain the

last number 38 or the last number forall of the rates for that matter.Leonard AnnunziatoWaterbury, f

I figure the answer must be simple, theway it is discussed in the book, and I willtell you what I think the answer is:

The rate 481-82-W-38 would be dial#1 - 4, #2 - 8, 3- 1, #4 - 82, Color dialW, dial 5 - 3, 6- 8. The color dial mustneed to be figured after the first four dialswhen finding a rate. It is probably kept inthat position in the rate chart for consistency. There are some rates that do nothave a color setting, for example the thirdand fourth rate for Malaria. The third 478-

    23-61-23 would dial in as# 1 -4, 2- 7, 3-8, 4-23, 5- 6, #6-1, 7- 2, #8-3 . Thefourth Malaria rate, 478-23-6-69, posesthe question of whether the 6-69 goes on

s 5,6,&7 or on s 5,7&8. If the secondchoice is the case then 5&6 and 7 &8 mayneed to be reversed, that is, in the originalrate above the 3 8 would go on dials 7 &8and 5&6 would be left at zero when a coloris used. I seriously doubt that is the case, because the general rule in dialing up ratesusing the regular Drown rates is that thenumbers start at the top and move forward

without a break in the dials, unless indicated by a 0 as part of the rate. So the 6-69 would be #5-6, #6 - 6, #7 - 9, #8 - 0.Usually ohrnage of the resistors is notdirectly related to the rate, other than as ageometric relationship, that is a rate couldnot really be given as ohms of resistance, except if he resistors are set up to read thesame as the dial settings for the rates. Theresistors, and/or other components in theinstrument are set up in certain patterns orstructures that sense, like an antenna/tuner that picks up on the form energy ofobjects, live or dead.

I do hope that this answers your question. I 've put this here in the Journal toask for help from any readers that may befamiliar with this subject. I' ll also put thisclarification in the Radionics book.

ETHERONS & THE BIG BANGIn connection with the recent dialoguein your Journal in which I put forthsome of my ideas about a push theory of

gravity based on the ether-concept, Ihad some further thoughts I would liketo submit.

Such a gravity theory reall y hingeson the question of how magnetic forcesarise in an ether, their nature, and whythey are associated with cosmic bodiesgalaxies, and atomic particles (mag:netic fields.) The ether concept lendsitself o a verysimpleexplanatorymodel.I believe the simplest explanation is thelikeliest correct one.

    Themostfundamental way to model

the or i gin of magnetic forces would beto imagine how they would arisecosmogeneti cally. As was pointed outin this Journ al, a Big Bang model ofcosmogenesi s would probably be im -possible to con struct with an ethertheory , but it do es lend itself to a modelat the elem ental level, as follows. I f t isassumed th a t c osmogenesis in an etherwould h ave to be the result of a disturbanc e of a quiet, uneoerpzed, zone ofethe r ons, there would occur an initialsetting-in -moti on of the etherons, followed by re sonant magnetic processesthat proc ee d ~ or ganized magnet ic systems. At first, as et her ons begin encountering other etherons , most of th eencounters would not be direc t, bu trather tangenital brushes, impartingspin and magnetic polarities to theetherons as well as affecting their direction of motion. The total chaos of theinitial flux would immediately give wayto stabler etheric field-forces. Spinningsinglets of etherons would resonate withother polarized singlets. Then, analogously-coupled pairs, then triplets, would resonate with analogous groups, and organization would appear. Onekey mechanism involved would be that

oflinear resonance, in which tiny groupings of etherons that by chance have asimilar direction of motion (thus constituting mini particle fields) cross -overother similarly-aligned fields, the crossover-effect aligning the spins of he particles within their own fields, accentuating their magnetism . In th i s way ,

gradually-building, increasingly-organized, magnetic systems would arise.

To get a conceptual idea of howsuch etheric processes are mediated, one can imagine a body of water in

which spinning metal balls are moving, and sending out waves within the water.I t s easily seen how two balls rotating inthe same direction will be attracted orrepelled much differently than two ballsrotating in opposite directions, due tothe wave-effects.

A piece of evidence that to me, atleast, favors the theory that analogousparticle groupings resonate preferentially with each other, comes from mystudy of esoteric traditions having to dowith Velikovsky's theory that Venuswas a comet that brushed the earth (hisbook on the subject being Worlds inCollision, mine being Twilight of theGods, available from IGOS, 255 N. ElCielo Rd, Suite 565, Palm Springs CA92262, $20). In he esoteric book Oahspe,it is related that such an event wasprecipitated by a god, or gods, allegorically named A P H , who somehowinduced Venus to leave its previousorbital place in the solar system andbecome a comet (inferentially, they

could have accomplished this by somemanipulation ofVenus' internal cosmicenergies.) To me, it is highly interestingthat the earth and Venus have the samesize and mass. Therefore, i f it is truethat analogous magnetic systems preferentially resonate, and i f it were desired to cause a great catastrophe on theearth by inducing another body to approach it, one would choose Venus, as itis the closest to the earth in size of anybody in the solar system.

Referring back to the analogy ofmetal balls in water, it is easily seen howtwo balls having the same size wouldhave their waves more in phase thanballs of different sizes. I find these kindsof analogies helpful in conceptualizingthe processes that would occur in anether, and thought they would also behelpful for your readers.Michael BaranBrockton, MA

INFORMATION PLEASECan you give me the caveats for using

magnets in health? Do they depleteminerals from the body (such as whensleeping on a magnetic bed)? Are theydangerous to use near electricity? Willthey damage electronic equipment (suchas radionic) i f they are in too closeproximity? AND what s the basic theoryof their effectiveness?RoyShablaDowney, CA

I know many Borderlanders study thissubject so perhaps we can get some inputfrom the membership . I kllow that thereare both beneficial and detrimental effects from using magnets, usage dependson many factors. Depending on strengththey can damage electronic recordingequipment or computers and any type ofTV monitor. Some people use them to' 'clear ' ' their radionic equipment as themagnetic field can break the subtle buildups encountered. We're open to whatothers have to say on the subject.
