From the Principal

Jonathan Law High School is a community that exists to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.

Dear Friends, It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us! We have made it through a truly Lawmazing two months of school and as we head into the second marking period, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your tremendous support of Jonathan Law High School. Holidays are a time to celebrate the importance of family and also the relationships with those you care about. The great strength of our school exists in the relationships among staff, students and families; and as we celebrate the many great happenings in our school, that great bond has never been stronger. The busy month ahead brings the continued hard work of our students and staff along with our Homecoming Dance, Annual Powder Puff Game, Thanksgiving Day Football Game and many trips and activities. I wish you all a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving and start to your holiday season. I am so grateful to be a Lawman and I look forward to a terrific month ahead. Sincerely,

SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS

Junior Parent Night will be held in January (date TBA). Parents

of juniors are urged to come. The School Counseling Department will be delivering an exciting, interactive and informative program on the college search, selection and application process. This hands on opportunity will jump start this process for you and your child.

Post High School Planning Seniors, please make sure

you are making individual appointments with your counselors to talk about post-graduation plans, college and where you are in the application process. Also, come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays to see Mr. Kovacs in the School Counseling Office if you need help writing your essay!

On-Site Admissions

Quinnipiac University will be here to do on site admissions on November 29, 2016 for students interested in attending QU. Students applying directly to the OT, PT, PA, Nursing and Athletic Training programs are not eligible for on-site admissions. Space is limited!

University of New Haven will be here to do on site admissions on December 1, 2016 for students interested in attending UNH. Space is limited!

Southern CT State University will be here to do on site admissions on December 2, 2016 for students interested in attending SCSU. Space is limited!

**For ALL on site admissions, students must submit your application to the university by November 15th, AND make an appointment in Guidance and submit a transcript request form (blue sheet) by November 9th.

Juniors, your counselors will be visiting an advisory period during November to

talk about your Game Plan for post high school!

Club!

The dates of our scheduled ski trips for the 2016-2017 season are as follows:

Dropping something off in the office for your child???

Any materials being dropped off must be labeled.

The following items MUST be in bags: sneakers, shoes, socks, any type of clothing.

Homework Requests

Any homework requests should be made via email directly to the teacher. All teachers and staff members can be emailed by using the first initial of the first name followed by the last name @milforded.org

For example: John Doe would be JDoe@milforded.org

Early Dismissal Requests

For all early dismissal requests the parent/guardian will need to write a note requesting the dismissal. The student must bring the note to the main office before school begins at 7:20am.

We will call the parent/guardian to verify the note, and then give the student a pass to leave class at the requested time. Following these procedures allows the student to leave class and meet you outside without interrupting the learning environment of the entire classroom.
