Voices of IJLP Students

I have had an admiration for Japan since I was a child. I started studying Japanese when I was a university student in Shanghai after I met Japanese who were living there. IJLP has courses that match your post-program academic needs—in my case, graduate school. The instructors not only helped me with my studies but also provided advice about life in Japan as an international student. I also received a scholarship from a private organization with a recommendation from Takushoku, which allowed me peace of mind while preparing for my entrance examination, and I was able to get into the school I wanted. I will gain various experiences so I can start a business in my home country in the future.

I went to Nikko for the spring fi eld trip.

I decided I would study in Japan since I am interested in the Japanese economy and company management. As I was considering what school to attend, I chose Takushoku’s IJLP because one of my seniors, who was in the program, told me that it also helped students prepare to enter a Japanese university in addition to leaning Japanese. I enjoyed learn ing wi th my f r iends in the program along with consulting with my advising instructor, so I’m glad I chose IJLP. I want to own my own company in the future, so I’ll continue learning Japanese and plan to study management at a Japanese university.

I was nervous about the level placement exam.

I decided to study in Japan because I had a good impression of the country when I visited here on my first trip abroad. I chose Takushoku’s IJLP because I heard the quality of IJLP was excellent. Placements exams are held every six months so you can study in classes suited to your level. In addition to language, you will learn about Japanese culture through field trips and through events to learn about various aspects of Japanese society and life. After one year in the program, I passed the JLPT N1 exam and was admitted to graduate school at Takushoku University from April 2020.

I was awarded a Takushoku University IJLP Scholarship.

I didn’t study Japanese at university, but I liked Japanese dramas, so I participated in JASSO’s Study in Japan Fair, where I learned about Takushoku’s IJLP. The instructors are happy to help me. I was also able to get over my dislike of learning kanji, which was I found difficult, through my instructors’ interesting teaching methods. I gradually got better and now like kanji. There are a lot of elective courses in the program other than Japanese, so I was able to study to the fullest.
