John Maxwell says that, “leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others”. On the other hand, Mother Teresa stressed that, “You can do what I cannot do. I can do what you cannot do. Together we can do great things.”

I do believe that empowering others before oneself is one of the characteristics shown by the person that I admire the most. He did not only empower others but also lived to words left by Mother Teresa. He displayed it as he visited the Philippines a couple of weeks ago. These were displayed by none other than the Holy One, Pope Francis.

As what Pope Francis displayed, there was unity among diversity. People from all walks of life gathered together to see his face, his untiring smile as well as his blessings. Through this, people all over the families were united. Thus, criminal rates were lessened. It was a great manifestation of a great leader and I want to be like him.

In addition, Pope Francis demonstrated deep love for the poor and the needy. He put aside differences but rather brought out the best of the people that followed him and who saw him as someone to be worthy of emulation. Though, people from all walks of life regarded him as someone special in return he treated them as equally special, too. He always set good example for everyone to follow.

Consequently, I want to be like him to serve others without reservation in such a way that we will be working together for the betterment of the school. In addition, I would like to know others’ weakness and strength to plan for the good of everyone. In that way, I would be able to serve my school and community. Nonetheless, to be a part of this prestigious organization, I do believe that I can bring out the best in all of us.
