Joe Student Mrs. Hope/4thCBM QD- Quantity Discrimination

Joe has great difficulty with basic number concepts. He loses track of numbers when counting with manipulatives or drawing strategic problem solving representations. He is in a classroom where students are learning multiplication, long division, the many skills that pertain to fractions and (eventually decimals).

Although the teacher is using strategies and mandating that students use them, Joe is self conscious about them, (due to some bullying that took place in his previous school). I have begun to remove him from the general classroom for small Direct Instruction activities, but do not want him to miss the general class lessons and he will be participating in the grade level assessment.

Joe Student Mrs. Hope/4th Dolch Sight Words grade 2&3

Joe can often sound out or figure out sight words with some phonetic skill but the time and effort exerted, often leave him with a lack of comprehension . Although he is up to knowing 50% of the sight words given, his peers know 75-100% fluently at this time

At times he is more concerned that he will get something incorrect and has learned to check out, or daydream instead of participate. Additionally he hides papers so he does not have to complete them. He tells teachers he has left papers at home and will do the work there, but generally tells them at a later time that the pages were lost.
