Post Designation: Lunchtime Assistant
Department: Education
Responsible to: Headteacher
Rate of Pay: £9.25 per hour
Hours / Days of Duty: 11am – 1pm Five days a week, term timeonly
Conditions of appointment: NJC for local government servicesGrade 2 point range 1-3
Job purpose and role: To prepare dining area for lunchtime andsupport children over the lunchtime period
Location: Low Hill Nursery School, Jenks Avenue,Low Hill, Wolverhampton, WV10 9JN
Key Responsibilities:To prepare dining area for arrival of lunches:o Set up tables and chairso Cleaning surfaceso Checking lunchtime registero Checking and updating dietary requirements of childreno Supporting children to access packed luncheso Sitting with the children developing social skills and supporting speaking and
listening opportunitieso Cleaning and tidying lunch area ensuring children are supported at all timeso Supervision of children indoors/outside providing a stimulating range of appropriate
activities in line with EYFS curriculumo Reporting any concerns to Headteacher in the first instanceo Reporting any Safeguarding issues to DSL/DDSL
Qualification / Training / Experience Food Hygiene Certificate preferred but training will be provided Basic first aid training preferred but not essential, training will be provided Experience of working with young children
Knowledge and Skills Ability to relate well to children and adults Work constructively as part of a team, understanding roles and responsibilities and
own position within theseCare, Welfare and Well-Being of Children Guide and support each child sensitively Establish productive working relationships with children and adults, acting as a role
model and setting high expectations Promote the access, inclusion and acceptance of all children within the nursery Support children consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual
needs
