    I. Job Purpose:

    The General Manager for COMPANY Abu Dhabi oversees all aspects of the business operations at thelocation, which include Marine Services and Cargo Services (freight forwarding, packing & removal &logistics), Liner services, Surveyors and Loss Adjustors along with all other departments structured in thelocation.

    The primary purpose of this role is to be a direct representative capable of making sound decisions on behalfof COMPANY and its principals for the location by demonstrating exceptional commercial, administrative,public relations and technical expertise necessary to render quality services to all the customers across the

    business streams within the geographical location and also through optimal utilization of assets for increasedprofitability. The activities of the job holder will be geared towards maximizing productivity and increasingrevenue generation through maintenance of existing accounts and converting new enquiries to additionalbusiness.

    The job holder provides direction and leadership to the COMPANY Abu Dhabi team ensuring that financial andoperational performance is constantly improved upon in line with COMPANY Global strategies; managingpartnership with ADMMI in order to maintain sustainable, long-term business relations.

    The job holder will also make suggestions/recommendations that could enhance or streamline operations, willsuggest new shipping-related activities for business growth, and will cooperate with the Regional HR functionin the implantation of initiatives that would serve in motivating and developing the workforce.

    II. Principal Accountabilities :

    1. Strategic Planning Working with MD-COMPANY UAE in defining the vision, strategyand direction for COMPANY Abu Dhabi to achieve its strategicobjectives and to formulate functional plans, communicating thestrategic plan to teams and allocating resources and educatingresources in order to win new contracts (new business) for thepurpose of enhancing business opportunities for the location toinclude other areas such as Logistics.

    2. Organizational Leadership Directing, delegating and making decisions on allocating theresources of the COMPANY in Abu Dhabi whose outcome

    becomes a plan to formulate functional and divisional plans,including technology, marketing, etc., in order to situate concretelywhere the organization wants to be in the future particularly interms of diversifying and broadening its market capacity.

    Building commitment and maximising team performance byproviding direction, support and leadership for COMPANY staff onlocation. Inspiring them to achieve high standards of performance.Leadership must be exercised in a responsible manner and not ina manner contrary to company purpose. Sets a good example forothers to follow and ensures that the team are aware of thecompanys vision, mission, goals, company strategy, culture,climate, company policies and treating team members fairly andequitably.

    Providing approval and recommendation for any recruitment andselection activities for the Division before sending it across to theRegional Management for necessary approvals. Responsible forstrengthening, developing and training Managers in order to

    ensure qualifications are met and aligned with the Regionalinitiatives.

    3. Business Development Endeavouring the expansion of the scope of the business bysustaining existing relationships and maintaining contacts with keypersonnel in business community.

    Identifying new business opportunities, negotiating competitiveterms, and securing agreements with potential clients in order toincrease revenue generation and productivity. Devise strategiesand plans to focus efforts and allocate resources appropriately,leading to increased revenues and profitability.

    Performing competition analysis and commercial analysis thrupresentation of market and geography research combining internaldata with external sources in line with the strategic initiatives of theRegion so as to position the Company competitively and establishmeans of sustaining market leadership.

    4. Operational Excellence Monitoring and providing direction and guidance on both microand macro levels (a) Marine Services-the day-to-day vesseloperations in port locations; interacting with principals, shipmasters and ports in achieving a quick despatch of vessel on aregular basis in order to ensure smooth and operational excellence(OE) of COMPANY-Abu Dhabi diversified business throughmaximum and effective utilization of assets and convert them intoincreased earnings.(b) Cargo Services- Identify and set guidelinesto handle problem areas, effective management of resources,ensure service delivery targets are met and reduce cost andmaintain at acceptable level.

    Monitoring and assessing uniformity and responsiveness ofservice delivery in the AOR in order to align operational activitieswith the customer requirements.

    5. Customer RelationshipManagement

    Communicating with clients regularly and promptly to advise themof the status of the activities and making our services available24/7 in order to ensure that they are well-informed and that theirqueries and concerns are channelled appropriately.

    Managing customer feedbacks and complaints in a courteous,efficient and most professional manner in order to ensure thatconflicts do not escalate, and that trust and confidence of theclients will be retained long-term.

    Meeting or exceeding customers expectations by constantlyensuring that service standards are always excellent in order toachieve the level of customer satisfaction that the Stream desires.

    Addressing grievances and resolving them thru the appropriatechannel and forum and hence, meeting what is stipulated in the

    contracts and achieving customer loyalty.

    6. Preparation and Submissionof Reports

    Providing input into annual and monthly business reports,competition analysis, regional port information and contact list in

    order to update progress and development of the Division to theMD COMPANY UAE.

    7. Quality Assurance

    Management

    Works in close liaison with the Regional Manager for QA & Health,

    Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) by conductingperiodically operational quality audits in order to achieve 100%ISO compliance.

    Managing the implementation of Regional QA objectives andprocedures in order to ensure QMS standards and best practicesare successfully adhered to in the Region in order to achieve near-zero tolerance on services and ensuring customer complaints areredressed in time.

    Coordinating concerned departments with the periodical auditconducted internally and externally in order to achieve due

    diligence to the required standards and processes for COMPANYAbu Dhabi.

    8. Financial Control Ascertaining the financial aspect of the business is smoothlyrunning in place and competently managed by evaluatingtimeliness of clients payment and internal treasury management isproportionate in order to maintain a competitive financial standingfor the Division. Evaluating the financial aspects of the businessand ensuring that debt is closely monitored and managed inaccordance with COMPANY business policies and procedures fordebt control.

    9. Communications andConflict Resolution

    Carrying out issues relating to internal and external principals andproviding suitable recommendations to achieve an agreeable end,

    considering conflict/variable areas (e.g. changes in governmentregulations, tariff, etc.) by supporting the message to be conveyedthrough proof in order to substantiate claims.

    10. Training and Development Strengthening teams across locations within the Region byconducting training programmes (which specifically includeRegional HR Induction Programme and Corporate Compliance &Ethics Policy) that will equip employees with the requiredknowledge, skills and awareness of the business in order toachieve a high level of service standards and consistency in thedelivery of services.

    III. Management of Risk:

    Management of Risk. The employee will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart ofeverything we do, both personally and as an organization. This will be achieved by consistently displayingbehaviours required to support the COMPANY Mission Statement and the principle set out in the COMPANYCode of Excellence. This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operationalrisk occurring. Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or theappropriate department. The employee will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internalcontrols. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records, andwhere appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raisedby external regulators. The employee will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliancerisk in liaison with the MD COMPANY UAE as well as Executive SVP Corporate Compliance. The termcompliance embraces all relevant laws, rules, and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be

    achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department aboutnew business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resourcesare in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

    V. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills :

    1. Recognized university qualification. Professional competency in handling Naval Port Operationsand/or logistics operations.

    2. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in a naval environment or logistics industry;five (5) of which in a senior management role.

    3. Acquainted with skills in MS-Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

    4. Excellent public relation skills, business acumen, written and verbal communication skills.

    5. Sound business acumen and strong people management skills.
