CORE MUSIC: 41 Credits RequiredPerformance Core (12 credits)
*Students are required to enroll in an ensemble and private instruction during their first 4 full-time semesters. In semester 2 they may select either a 50 minute lesson (2 credits)
OR a 30 minute lesson (1 credit) with a co-requisite 1 hour lab (1 credit - ILxx course). Lab credits may replace ensemble credits and vice versa, and one performance studies
course (PSxx-) may replace 2 credits of ensembles or labs during the first four semesters. Additional PSxx courses may be taken as General Electives or ASE credits, depending
on major. Performance Major ASEs include ENxx, ILxx, PFET, PSxx. Performance Major ASEs do not include Performance Studies Health courses (PSH-xxx), PSHR–321,
PSVC–425, PSPC–341, or PSME–xxx.
LIBERAL ARTS: 39 Credits Required

*Student designated concentrate courses must be approved by the Professional Music Department chair or designee. Courses should have a direct relationship to the student's
final project. The final project should have a direct relationship to the student's career goals as developed through advisement. Students interested in this major should contact
the Professional Music Department chair as early in their study as possible, so that educational goals and concentrate requirements can be planned.
PROFESSIONAL MUSIC CORE: 14 Credits Required
Select courses from each of the following areas:
** Required completion of a significant culminating project per student based on the designated area of concentration whose content and/or enactment is equal in quality and
extent to the demands of the current industry environment.
*** Up to two additional levels (2 credits total) of private instruction (PIXX-XXX) on the student's principal instrument (or on guitar, voice, or piano as a secondary instrument)
may be taken as electives. If these additional lessons are taken on the primary instrument, then successful completion of the corresponding proficiency is required. If taken on a
secondary instrument, the lesson will be unleveled and will not require a proficiency. See department chair for requirements, policies, and other information.
