Supplementary Newsletter – January 2020
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Special Presentations: The museum’s Winter / Spring 2020 public
programming series has just been finalized. Each presentation will take place at either the museum’s C.M.
Glascock Building (222 Jasper Street) or the Log Museum complex (218 Jasper Street) starting at 7:00pm.
Admission is by donation. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome!
January 16th: Witnesses To History –
Restoring the Museum’s Heritage Buildings: The museum’s buildings not only house the museum’s
collections and operations, they are also artifacts in their
own rights as witnesses to the community’s history.
This presentation explores the history of the museum’s
three designated Municipal Heritage Properties (the
W.R. Orr Building, the C.M. Glascock Building, and the
1935 Log Museum) and traces the work that the museum
has undertaken to rehabilitate these fascinating heritage
buildings, including the construction of the new log
museum building as an homage to the former latter
additions to the 1935 Log Museum.
February 20th: Night at The Museum I: The Log Museum is a veritable treasure trove of objects
and artworks that collectively tell the remarkable story
of what is now southwest Saskatchewan. As exhibit
text cannot fully do justice to the fascinating stories of
the objects housed by the museum, this presentation will
allow participants to get up close and personal with the
stories and meanings behind just a few of the
extraordinary objects currently on exhibit in the Log
Museum.
March 26th: Night at The Museum II:
Continuing on the theme of the Feb. 20th presentation,
this presentation will examine even more stories and
meanings behind another set of extraordinary objects
currently on exhibit in the Log Museum.
C.M. Glascock Building Gallery:
Artist Geoff Phillips is currently programming the
gallery space in the museum’s C.M. Glascock Building.

exhibitions curated by our resident artist Geoff.
