Imelda Sari (Indonesia) ASC15-1,completed her Fellows Project bywriting a decision paper on howIndonesia should face the increasingeconomic competition from ASEAN.

Lieutenant Colonel Chang Jung Lee(Korea), CCM15-1, completed hisFellows Project by increasing regionaldisaster resilience.

Richard Wells (New Zealand), ASC16-1, completed his Fellows Project byusing open source geospatial data toimprove collaboration within the NewZealand Defense Force.

Chiranjibi Kunwar (Nepal) CSRT16-1,completed his Fellows Project byestablishing a working group to addressdrug trafficking issues; and he arrangeda program to educate and traingovernment officials about this issue.

Mr. Bakhtiar Muhammad (Pakistan),CSRT16-1, completed his FellowsProject by refining the job descriptionsof officers in his organization.

From Jan 31 – 02 Feb 2018,DKI APCSS hosted the 12th

ASEAN Defense Minister’sMeeting Plus Experts’Working Group onHumanitarian Assistanceand Disaster Relief.Among the more than 50participants, wewelcomed back seven

alumni.

In preparation for an upcomingworkshop on the new U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy, Dr. Lori Formantraveled to Vietnam and Japan whereshe worked with U.S.U.S. Embassyofficials on socializing key elements ofthe workshop and providedrequirements to help identify the idealparticipants. She also met with severalDKI APCSS alumni.

Due to government budget negotiations and shutdown, a number ofchanges have occurred with our course schedule. We canceled theAsia-Pacific Orientation Course previously scheduled in January due tothe government shutdown during that period.

The Comprehensive Crisis Management Course was also delayed oneweek and will begin on Feb 15, 2018.
