Development HUB) & IEEE Young Professional Madras Section conducted Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp

(EAC) during Jan 4-6, 2017.

Mr. C. Sakthi Kumar, Director, Panimalar Institute of Technology delivered the presidential address during his

speech he highlighted few entrepreneurs with their work. He motivated students to become Entrepreneur. Dr. G.

Ravikumar, Director CED, Anna University Chennai inaugurated the camp and delivered the Inaugural address and

processed. He also highlighted on the need for continuous learning, soft skills, time management skills current skill

PIT IEEE-SB arranged a Social Awareness Program at Ramalinga Adigalar Gurukulam in

Kovilambakkam on 2nd Sep 2017 to encourage and motivate the kids to meet real world

challenges and become successful. Third year IEEE students Daphne Jenson, V Jayashree, B

Abinaya, Sindhuja and Jenifer Mercy Carolina spreaded social awareness to the children and

kept them entertained. The importance of unity, honesty and courage was brought forth by them

to the children.

Mr. M. Benhur Rodriguez of III Year ECE was nominated by IEEE India Council & IEEE

Madras Section to join as a facilitator for Google Applied CS with Android Program on 2nd & 3rd

Sep at Google office, Bangalore.The facilitator's were all around the India and there were around

60-70 facilitators who have been selected as an Applied CS facilitator through different selection

mediums. Some were selected as an facilitator through IEEE student committee and some were

selected by providing Google a self-talk video about some field of interest topic through

YouTube.Applied CS with Android facilitators will deliver learning and development

experiences to students on campus in a 'flipped classroom' environment. They will work with

Google to upskill on the course content to facilitate, and further develop their facilitation,

presentation, and communication skills.

workshop informed the students about working with HFSS, a commercial finite element method

Guest Lecture programme on Preparations for Graduate Admissions test on 6th Sep 2017 for

Third year students was organized by IEEE SB, SBSC‟s, YP & WIE. Ms.Priya Narayanan &

Mr.Dinesh Regional Head, Manya Princeton Review Chennai shared their expertise with

Students. Several tips for being successful in Graduate Admission tests were elaborated. Students

Members of Third Year ECE conducted the programme to embolden and inspire school students

to encounter real life problems and become successful. They spread social awareness in an

interesting and innovative matter. Important Topics like Women Safety and Career Development

were discussed with the students.

Workshop on Embedded System design using PSoC 4

Robotics & Automation Society(RAS) Chapter, IEEE Madras section, & Panimalar Institute of

Technology organized one day workshop titled “Embedded System design using PSoC ” on 09th

Sep 2017. 09.30 Hrs. 17.00 Hrs at Panimalar Institute of Technology Chennai-

600123. Inauguration was done in presence of Dr. T. Jayanthy, Principal, PIT, Dr.S.Ganesh

Professor & R&D In-charge, Dr. S. Sathiya Priya, Professor, ECE. The workshop session theory

and hands on was conducted using Cypress semiconductor evaluation board by Dr. P A

Manoharan, Chairman (RAS), IEEE Madras section. Around 65 students and faculty members

were participated. The students were given exposure on embedded system and it design using

PSoC4 hardware. Principal and Director-research,PIT, requested to have an embedded system

lab using Cypress PSoC kits and would like have donation of 10 kits through University Aligned

guest lecture on Robotics & Automation on 12th Sep 2017 for Final year Students. The session

was handled by Dr.Siva Prakash, CEO, IELKTRON Private limited, Chennai. During the event

he elaborated about Robotics & Automation in industry. He demonstrated a robot and explained

how to make a robot. He also shared about 3D printing technology involved in it. The event was

Medical Camp

PIT IEEE SB in association with NSS organized the Medical Camp at valarpuram Village in

thiruvallur district during September. During the camp awareness about dengue was also

explained to the public. About 15 IEEE members along with NSS volunteers conducted the camp

successfully.

Awareness Programme on Health Hazards by Microwave Radiation for Humans

Mr. M. Arun, IEEE Student Branch counselor addresses the gathering

Panimalar Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch Chapter with the funding from IEEE

R10 Educational Activities organized an Awareness Programme on Health Hazards by

Microwave Radiation for Humans on October 16, 2017. Prof P Subramanian, Executive

Committee member IEEE Madras section inaugurated the event. He spoke on the importance of

IEEE & its benefits. The Awareness programme included discussion on Health Hazards by

Microwave Radiation for Humans by Mr. T. Jayandan, Founder & Director Tesela Minds,

Chennai, Prof. S.Ganesh, Professor /ECE PIT, Mr. M. Arun, Assistant professor/ ECE PIT. The

programme highlighted various Health Hazards by microwave radiation for humans and how to

prevent and avoid from it. About 105 students from PIT and other Colleges attended the Event.

IoT on Raspberry Pi on 15th Nov 2017. Mr.E.Murugan, Project Engineer & Ms.M.Abinaya,

Project Engineer from (SANDS) India Pvt. Ltd conducted the workshop. Hands on session were

given to the participants.

institute (NPTI) organized a three days skill development programme on “Energy Audit &

Energy conservation” from 16th November to 18th November-2017. Mrs.S.

Panimalar Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch Chapter with the funding from IEEE

R10 Educational Activities organized a Teachers In-Service Program (TISP) - Augmenting

Talents through real-world practical Learning on November 17 & 18, 2017. Dr. M. P. Chitra,

Prof. & Head, ECE Department felicitated the event. Mr.M.Arun, IEEE Student Branch

counselor delivered welcome address and briefed about various activities organized by IEEE for

the development of society. The program identified ways, how pre- university educators can

assist schools and school system in technological literacy. The sessions were handled by Prof.

S.Ganesh, Professor /ECE PIT, Mr. M.Arun, Assistant professor/ ECE PIT and Ms. V.

Shanmuga Priya, R & D Engineer, ResPro Labs,Chennai This event provided rich hands-on

experience to the participants on designing many simple but interesting electronics circuits.

About 30 participants from various schools in and around Poonamallee and our College faculty

attended the event. Mrs.R.Prathipa, Associate Professor ,Coordinator, proposed the vote of

thanks and thanked the IEEE R10 for funding this event through R10 EA funding.


Faculty Development Programme


PIT-IEEE-SB and Department of EEE conducted faculty development program on EE6009-

Power Electronics for Renewable Energy Systems” during 20th November 2017 to 25th November

2017. Experts from Industry & academia conducted the programme.23 faculty members from

different Engineering colleges attended the FDP.

Workshop on Python Programming


PIT IEEE SB, NEST 4U club Dept. of ECE in association with Pantech ProEd Pvt. Ltd. &

technically sponsorship from IEEE Information Theory Society Madras Chapter organized

Workshop on Python Programming on 20th to 22nd Nov 2017. Around 30 participants participated

and enhanced the knowledge. Mr. Trainer Pantech ProEd Pvt. Ltd. Chennai & team conducted

the workshop. Participants were introduced to learn Python in industry perspective and make

them to do real world web applications. Mrs.V.Jeya Ramya, Associate Professor, ECE and

Mr.M.Arun, Assistant Professor coordinated the event.


Technical training on Java

Participants of technical training on Java

Department of Information Technology in association with IEEE-ITS and CSI organized Seven

days technical training programme on Java for III year students during 20th Nov 2017 to 26th Nov

2017. The Trainig programme was conducted by Ms. Shanthi Priya from NSIC, Chennai. Topics

covered included core Java followed by extensive knowledge and skills enabling the students to

understand basic java programming concepts. Hands on sessions to practice the concepts covered

in the training and enable students to develop applications in Java day to day J2EE web

application . About 30 students benefited.

Department of Information Technology in association with IEEE-ITS and CSI organized the

seminar on “R Program” 22nd Nov 2017 for faculty members. Dr.Dharani from “Vani Analytics

private Limited” delivered the seminar. She gave a brief introduction about the basic concepts of

R Program. She discussed the some real time examples and also demonstrated few experiments

using R Program and she gave more ideas about research.

Workshop on Network Simulation Tools NS2 & NS3

Mr.M.Arun, Assistant Professor ECE. Welcomes Ms. T.Veera Janaga Dharani from ABE semiconductor design

PIT IEEE SB, Department of ECE, NEST 4U Club in association with IEEE IES, IAS, SPS

student branch chapters & ABE Semiconductor design, Chennai conducted the Third National

Level Workshop on Network Simulation Tools NS2 & NS3 during 23rd to 24th November 2017.

The event was funded with Rs.8550 from IEEE Madras section. Ms. T.Veera Janaga Dharani

from ABE semiconductor design conducted the workshop. The topics covered included Network

Simulators- A Eagle View for Different Applications. The use of Network Simulators-2,

Installation of NS2, working with Front End Tools for NS-2, Protocols for Network simulators,

and Analysis for the Different Files formats and taking the outputs, Application development by

participants. The analysis of output traces file and tools to draw the output graph from the trace

file. Introduction OS Network Simulator 3, the comparison of NS2 and NS3. Installation of NS3,

benefits of NS3. The participants were given hands-on training on NS2 and NS3. Around 32

participants felt it extremely beneficial and gained knowledge on NS2 and to write scripts for

various Network applications. The event was coordinated by Mrs. R.Suganathi, Associate

Professor ECE & Mr.M.Arun, Assistant Professor ECE.

Science and Engineering in association with IEEE Computer Society, CSI, Web Brains Club

and PLC Technologies on 23rd Nov 2017. Mr.Vinodh, Software Engineer, PLC Technologies,

Chennai conducted the event. The participants were introduced with Cloud Computing and

Security, Cloud service model and Cloud reference model. Event was coordinated by

Dr.S.Hemalatha, Mr.T.A. Mohana Prakash. Around 20 staff participated.

Workshop on Web Malware Detection & Preventions was organized by the Department of

Computer Science and Engineering in association with IEEE Computer Society, CSI,Web Brains

Club and PLC Technologies on 24th Nov 2017. Mr. K. Ravikanthan, Software Engineer, PLC

Technologies, Chennai conducted the workshop. Hands-on experience in Web Malware

Detection & Preventions was given to participants along with Web Worm , Web anti virus,

Prevention of data from Hacker. Dr.S.Hemalatha, Prof. Mr. K. Sathyamoorthy coordinated the

event. Around 25 CSE students participated & benefited.

Workshop on Energy Management in Smart City using IoT was organized on 27 th Nov 2017 by

the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with IEEE computer society

and computer society of India under IoT MATRAQUE Club. Resource Persons Mr. V. Sridhar,

GM & Head/Business Development, Trios Technologies Pvt Ltd, Chennai , showcased the latest

technology called “Internet of Things (IoT)” followed by live project demonstration on Event

based Actions and Energy Management in Smart City for Final year students and the Faculty

members of CSE. Participants benefitted by having insights into the IoT technology. The event

was co-ordinated by Mrs. S .Venkatalakshmi Associate Professor /CSE , Mr. V. Gokula

on 27th & 28th November 2017. Dr. T.Jayanthy, Principal introduced the participants with need

of RF in day toady life. Mr. Ravi Kumar, CEO, RF Wavezera, Bangalore conducted the

workshop. The workshop covered Design and simulation of a metamaterial based device,

Applications & Research areas in metamaterial. Workshop also had CST Hands ON with

Assistant Professor coordinated the event. Around 30 participants participated and benefited.

Skill Development Course on Progamming with Arduino PIT IEEE SB, Dept. of ECE, Nest 4U club in association with Hertz & Shannon club, IEEE IAS,

IES & RAS SBC‟s organized Skill Development Course on Progamming with Arduino during

27th & 28th Nov 2017. Around 15 participated and were introduced with Arduino Basics,

Architecture followed by simple fundamental programming. Mr. Benhur, Ms. Daphne along with

IEEE Madras section in association with Panimalar Institute of Technology conducted IEEE Madras section

Technical Talk on “The Future of Electronics – From Semiconductor‟s Perspective” by Prof. Mayank Shrivastava,

Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru on 21st December 2017. His talk pitched with a vision and belief How India

can take a lead – at the international front - in Semiconductor R&D, leading to commercial and strategic

independence. He also discussed few key disruptive technologies, which can be game changers as far as “future of
