WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNERS
WINTER 2020
We are excited to resume our Wednesday Night Dinners this coming Wednesday, January 22nd! We look forward to the delicious food and the wonderful fellowship we share on these fun evenings and hope you will make plans to join us! You will still need to make reservations for seating as we have always done. This allows us to pre-pare enough food and drink for the number of people expected without having too much food left over. It also allows Boris to set up enough tables and chairs in advance so we don’t have to scramble at the last minute. Because there are several fundraisers planned for this semester, each with their own pricing, and because there are four Covered Dish Dinners this semester with no charge at all, we will not have Permanent Reservations or a pre-pay option. We felt it might be too confusing. Instead, you will need to make your reservation no later than the Monday by noon before the meal on Wednesday night and be prepared to pay for your meal at the door. You may still make your reservation by emailing [email protected], signing up on the sheets in the church office, or by calling 237-6121. Please remember to include the number of children and their ages and the number of adults when you make your reservation Prices will remain the same for regular Wednesday Night Dinners ($6- Adults, $4 – Children ages 3-12, with a $20 cap for families). Please check the weekly bulletin for prices for the fundraiser dinners and for any changes in the menus planned..

Tickets are $20 per couple and $5 for each additional daughter which includes a picture, DJ, and hors d’oeuvres. Need a night out? Saturday, February 8th, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. is Date Night. Youth, parents, and educators are encouraged to attend the showing of Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncover-ing Skills for Stress Resilience on Sunday, February 9th, at 5:15 p.m. This video is about helping young people thrive in our screen and stress-filled world and addresses stress, anxiety, and depression. Bring a friend! Dinner and a discussion will follow the viewing of the film and the event is free of charge. Donations are welcome with checks made to First UMC Youth. Register by Sunday, February 2nd, by calling the church office (237-6121) or by contacting Alysun at [email protected] We are still looking for a few more individuals/families to go with us to Israel in January of 2021. If you feel you might be interested in a trip like this, please contact Joel Gay. There is information about the trip on the table in the atrium, and we are planning to do several fundraisers to help defray costs for the trip. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to see the places where the events of scripture took place, and to experience the history of the Bible with friends from your church family. Please call Joel at the church office for more information.
MUSIC NOTES This morning we thank our Handbell and Chancel choirs for the beautiful music they have provided for our worship. Thank you all for serving so willingly.

OUR RESPONSE
Sending Forth GREAT ARE YOU LORD Praise Band
Greeters for January 19th: Beth Herndon, Debbie Bradley, Pam Barrett We thank the Praise Band for their ministry this morning.
From the Pastor: The bulletin you hold in your hand comes as a result of input and attention to detail of many people. Each week Jo Shackelford gathers the joyful news about the birth of babies in our con-gregation, along with baptisms, families joining, and an invitation to become a member of FUMC. Along with this news we find information about those members who are sick and those who have died in the last week. Looking closely at the bulletin, or Chimes as some refer to this piece, you will discover that all of this information and more has been arranged in light of our membership vows to uphold the United Methodist Church by our Prayers, Pres-ence, Gifts, Service, and Witness. One more of the important aspects of our bulletin that Jo in-cludes are the Orders of Worship for each of the three services. There are hymns, prayers, lyrics to music, and the names of those leading in wor-ship. That’s quite a responsibility that Jo tackles every week. One of the more challenging aspects in accom-plishing all of this is getting a letter from the pas-tor (that’s me), which you are reading right now. We laugh as she gently reminds me once again, “I need your letter.” First Thessalonians 5:16-18 comes to mind as I write this letter. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Jo is an example of living this out for me. I invite you to extend your gratitude to her as well. Thank you, Jo!
Pastor Bob

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our
Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. +GLORIA PATRI

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
PRESENTING OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
OFFERTORY ANTHEM “Lamb of God” arr. Lloyd Larson (Please sign and pass the attendance pad) Your only Son, no sin to hide, but you have sent him from your side to walk upon this guilty sod, and to become the Lamb of God. Your gift of love they crucified, they laughed and scorned him as he died, the humble King they named a fraud, and sacrificed the Lamb of God
