October 30, 2020 Dear Parents, On December 10, 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into law. Section 1112(e)(1)(A) states that as a parent of a student in James K. Polk Elementary School, receiving Title I funds, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers instructing your child. Federal law requires the school division to provide you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers: • Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade

levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction. • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status

because of special circumstances. • Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification or

degree he/she received • Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their

Queridos padres, El 10 de diciembre de 2015, se promulgó la Ley de éxito de todos los estudiantes (ESSA). La Sección 1112 (e) (1) (A) establece que, como padre de un estudiante de la Escuela Primaria James K. Polk , que recibe fondos del Título I, tiene derecho a conocer las calificaciones profesionales de los maestros de clase que instruyen a su hijo. La ley federal requiere que la división escolar le brinde esta información de manera oportuna si la solicita. Específicamente, tiene derecho a solicitar la siguiente información sobre cada uno de los maestros de clase de su hijo:

• Si el maestro ha cumplido con los criterios estatales de calificación y licencia para los niveles de grado y las materias en las que el maestro brinda instrucción.

• Si el maestro está enseñando bajo emergencia u otro estado provisional debido a circunstancias especiales.

• Si el maestro está enseñando en el campo de disciplina de la certificación o título que recibió

• Si los paraprofesionales brindan servicios a su hijo y, de ser así, sus calificaciones.
