English O-Zone – Conceptual Overview Brent A. Jones Konan University, Hirao School of Management Abstract - This talk is intended as an overview of the self-access language study center established for students at the Hirao School of Management (Konan University). Topics will include key considerations and the background research we conducted in preparation for this project, goals and objectives, operational procedures, ongoing challenges, and advice for schools planning such projects. We will highlight the benefits (and shortcomings) of a "for students, by students" approach to self-access language study spaces. Purpose Provide opportunities to use English Lower the Affective Filter (English Allergy) Develop Independent Language Learners Support English Language Courses Functions Independent Language Study Group Language Study Writing Help Desk Study Abroad Information Uplifting Atmosphere Why visit the O-Zone?
