Harnard Castle gained an excellent victor;, over the Itecouiiaissance Corps last Satur- day. F o r t h e winners, two players excelled themselves. They were Charlie SpUler anu Keilh Jackson. The former gave a grand batting exhibition in scoring 53, exactly hall the Harnard Castle total. When the visitois looked like settling down to make a gixni reply to the home total, along came Jackson Willi o n e o f t h e best b o w l i n g s p e l l s ever seen on the ground—7 wickets f o r 19 runs. Five of his victims were clean bowled a n d t h e other Iwo i aught and bowled. The lirsi catch, taken from his own bowling, w a s a masterpiece. On this performance and against such strong opposition, his feat is all the more iioieworlhy. and without doubt Haruard Castle look like having a worth) representation i n t h e County side. The way of a bowler in l o c a l c r i c k e t "is h a r d , h i s feats often going unrecognised, but from the ova- tion a t t h e close o f t h e game, this one evidently proved the exception.
