Students will also attend an intensive orientation one week before classes begin. - As part of the program, Research Classes will be provided to TLC advanced-level students, in coordination with Ivy Tech’s Research Librarian Teaching Staff and IVYT 102 (Information Stud- ies and Research Skills) faculty. - Advanced-level Students can elect up to two additional courses. Recommended classes include: IVYT 101 First Year Seminar or IVYT 120 New Student Seminar and any 100 level course in the student’s desired major. TLC-Fort Wayne is located in the heart of the Midwest, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on the campus of Ivy Tech Community College Northeast. Known as ‘the city of churches’ and ‘the summit city’, Fort Wayne is the second largest city in Indiana. TLC-Fort Wayne offers nine levels of instruction and post-level nine courses. The curriculum emphasizes academic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The classes are small, offering students personal attention. Standard classes include Structure, Speaking and Listen-ing, and Reading and Writing. However, elective classes are also offered. These classes may include the following: Idioms, American Culture through Film, American Literature, Current Events, Conversation and Accent Reduction.

Students are responsible for cooking personal meals and estimates for groceries vary based on preferences and diet choices. The estimated costs for meals are $2,500 for 20 weeks in Fort Wayne. It is recommended that students plan to have additional money for incidental and personal expens-es such as clothing, transportation and entertainment. Airfare is not included in this cost. Students will purchase textbooks as needed. The estimated fees for textbooks are $625. Proof of health insurance is required. If health insur-ance is desired, the additional fee is $400. Total estimated costs for study in the US is $13,800 for 20 weeks.

Ivy Tech will provide transportation to and from the airport. Ivy Tech will provide a specialized orientation to ease initial adjustment. Ivy Tech provides access to housing which is close to campus and meets the specif-ic needs of new international students. Students are able to cook their own meals in private kitchens, therefore ensuring that food services provide food of special importance to students from other cultures, includ-ing kosher/halal meal options, the proper cooking of sticky rice, and a variety of international options. Ivy Tech will provide opportunities to integrate international students into mainstream student life on campus and in the community. Ivy Tech will offer guidance for writing academic papers and provide unlimited access to caring, skills tutors.
