One of the most interesting and challenging environments to connect to the internet is the automobile; there are hundreds of millions of cars in the world, and each is a metal, glass, and plastic cocoon zipping its passengers around at high speed in safety and comfort. In the future, every car will have connectivity inside the car, be interconnected to each other, and be connected to the cloud. What wireless technologies will be part of the connected car? What are the unique challenges for wireless in the automotive environment? How will vehicles communicate with each other and with wireless networks? How will a connected car assure security and privacy? This talk will highlight the technologies that are being developed to connect in and around the car, and the challenges that designers will face as we travel down the highway toward the cloud.
