With the intensifying competition, textile-apparel factories and dye-houses have invested substantial resources to improve overall production quality and efficiency. In order to meet the industry standard of low-carbon footprint, they are dedicated to optimize the production workflow, strengthen the communication between manufacturers and clients, and to respond to surging labor and raw materials costs.

The supply chain of the apparel industry has big potential for business improvements.

Manufacturers have to work in compliance with standards in color management, quality control and productivity adopted by international fashion brands.

They also need to enhance the information flow among raw material suppliers, trim manufacturers and fashion designers. In order to tap into the high-profit fashion market, they need to respond to material supply and mix-and-match style fashion design trends. Factories also need to deliver quality products within shortened production lead time.

Datacolor understands the needs of the demanding textile industry. For over 40 years, leading textile brands, and the mills they work with, have relied on Datacolor as a partner through every step of the color manufacturing process.

Using our 40 years of experience, Datacolor can help manufacturers achieve efficient and accurate performance in color specifications of garments and textiles.

Datacolor’s product offering serves all areas of coloring - both in global value and supply chains, in terms of the definition of color standards, and procedures of the recipe-finding in dyeing and printing, as well as the optimization of production processes.

Trust your color management to Datacolor. Color is one of the core elements in brand marketing. For any international fashion brand, color management is a major factor in their selection of new fabric, trim and accessories suppliers.

As a global leader in color management, DATACOLOR provides one-stop Digital Color Communication solutions for retailers, apparel brands, dye-houses and trim suppliers. Consistent color specification is maintained across different materials, different processes and different suppliers, keeping the fault rate to a minimum and avoiding interruptions in the laboratory to bulk transfer process. Reduced product development and production lead times ensure higher quality and lower return rates.

Combined with simpler color management tasks, it enables a healthier supply chain for global apparel brands. The connection of these two improvements increases the competitiveness of the apparel brands and their supplying dye-houses.

Challenges and Opportunities for the Textile industry

Getting the color details right – that’s what quality depends on.

Color management Enables Effective Branding and market Alignment

The range of portable and bench top spectrophotometers includes Datacolor CHECK® ii, a highly precise, portable spectrophotometer with integrated analysis software, as well as the industry leading product line of bench top spectrophotometers Datacolor 400™, Datacolor 600™, and Datacolor 650™.

These laboratory instruments, designed for the most exact matching of measurement data, represent the standard in global supply chains, which demand the exchangeability and digital communication of measurement data.

Datacolor’s software covers every step, beginning with the development of tones, including the finding of formulations, color communication, color quality control and up to the complex optimization and analysis of dyeing processes. Datacolor TOOLs® 2.0 is the newest development in the area of color quality control. From the daily assessment of color quality to authentic color representation of the calculated color measurement numbers on customer-specific substrates, TOOLS provides it all with absolute ease of use. The flexible design of the user interface allows every involved party of the global supply chain to customize their data output and reports in a simple and intuitive way. Modules for the control of

edges and longitudinal seams (Datacolor MONITOR™) as well as the dynamic sorting of production badges (Datacolor SORT™) complete the product portfolio for color quality control.

Datacolor mATCH®, in use as a standard solution for many years now, allows printers and dyers to create desired formulations in accordance with the specifications demanded by the ordering party in a quick and precise way. The unsurpassed expert system ‘smartmatch®’ learns the difference between theoretical composition behavior of colorings and the actual existing interplay of individual formulation components based on accepted formulations thereby increasing the success rate of first-time formulations by up to 50%.

With the module matchCOm, based on the formulation algorithms of Datacolor mATCH®, Datacolor now offers a black box option that

allows companies to implement the experience and know-how of established Datacolor formulation systems in their own software development.

Making use of Datacolor’s precision-designed digital imaging system ENVisiON, all members of global apparel and retail supply chains can display texture-rich product images with their measured or manually manipulated colors under different illuminants and on calibrated monitors, using Datacolor’s sPYDER monitor calibration device. The “Digital Samples” can then be communicated amongst supply chain members, eliminating the hassle and cost of shipping physical samples, further expediting the color approval process.

Trendy articles, constantly decreasing lead times in the creation of seasonal palettes and the diversity of current articles require individually and exactly optimized processes for production. Due to time, quality and cost constrains, the use of standard methods is no longer effective. The optimized combination and application of article, customer, dye and application specific dyeing methods has become essential. In order to apply the knowledge of the experts systematically, the production and process optimization system, Datacolor PROCEss®, manages any product and process specific parameters and factors, then combines the correct products, process parameters and steps into individually optimized process components based on the requirements profile of the dye.

The direct integration of Datacolor mATCH® and Datacolor PROCEss® allows for the common utilization of the best technologies for lab and production formulation. Interfaces for the communication of the calculated product amounts and process parameters to color kitchens, dosing stations and coloring control stands by all manufacturers guarantee a universal exchange of data.

The fact that exact and laboratory formulations are only relevant for production if the according lab colorings are accurate, reproducible and have been created with precision has been the reason for Datacolor to pay special attention to the areas of lab dyeing and lab dosing, ever since the company came into existence. Datacolor’s new AHiBA iR series features a highly precise simulation of production conditions. The exact compliance with temperature curves, as well as the intuitive user interface concept of the newest device generation allows, in combination with a range of diverse accessories, the re-creation of the shortest liquor relations and flexible dosing processes during the dyeing process. Thanks to water cooling and efficient heater elements, the achievement of the target specifications of process curves is warranted with the AHiBA iR devices.

Since a reproducible lab dyeing is only warrantable with precisely and accurately created dyeing solutions, Datacolor’s AutoLab TF® lab dispensing systems are not only designed for efficient throughput, but also for highest precision. An automatization of the dosing process is warranted due to the direct integration with the Datacolor mATCH® formulation software, the feeding of dyeing beakers on conveyer belts and the integration with the periphery device of the parent solution (AutoLab sPs).
