Wastewater Generation & Treatment
It has been estimated that the up-coming project will generate 914.4 KL of wastewater daily. The said waste water
will be treated in a STP of capacity 1100 KLD located within the project complex and generate 731.52 KLD of
recoverable water. This will be re-used for flushing and landscaping purposes. Any surplus, if found will be
supplied to the nearby construction site(s), on demand.
6. SEWAGE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY

b) Treatment Technology
Moving bed biofilm reactor technology is based on the principle of attached growth process.
Raw sewage will be collected under gravity into the equalization tank after allowing to pass
through the bar screen. Screens will be provided in screen chambers and it will be manually
cleaned by going down to a platform. The bar screen, by removing coarse solids from the
sewage help in protecting the raw sewage pump.
Fully submersible centrifugal non clog sewage handling pump will be provided in the
collection cum equalization tank to pump the collected Wastewater to the next MBBR tanks.
Automatic level controller will be provided in the tank to turn the pump off at the low water
level in the tank and to start the pump when water level is high automatically. Air will be
introduced in this tank to prevent any potential foul smell problem & to provide the mixing
of wastewater to avoid the sedimentation of solids in this tank. Air Grid used for aeration
purpose will be non-clog.
The sewage collected in equalization tank is pumped the moving bed bioreactor. There will
be two nos. of bioreactors in series for the efficient working and removal of BODs for the

required retention time. The process inside the moving bed bioreactors consists of adding
small cylindrical-shaped polyethylene/polypropylene carrier elements in aerated basins to
support bio-film growth. The small cylinders are provided with a cross inside the cylinder
and longitudinal fins on the outside. The bio-film carriers are maintained in the reactor by
the use of a perforated plate with appropriate slot at the tank outlet. Air agitation or mixers
are applied in a manner to continuously circulate the packing. The packing may fill 25 to 50
percent of the tank volume. Specific surface area of the packing is about 450-500m2/m
3 of
bulk packing volume. The Wastewater from first bioreactor flows by gravity through the
perforated plate/mesh to the next bioreactor kept in series. Inside the bioreactors, aerobic
bacteria grow in an attached growth from around the moving plastic media inside the
reactors. The bacteria have to reduce BOD & COD of Wastewater in the presence of oxygen
provided through the air grids located at the bottom of the reactors. The Process does not
require any return activated sludge flow or backwashing.
From the bio-reactors, the effluent passes by gravity into the clarifier (Tube Settling Tank).
Clarifier will be a hopper bottom sedimentation tank provided with appropriate size PVC
tube deck media. The suspended solids will settle at the bottom of the tank & clear
supernatant will overflow to filter feed tank through outlet launder. The collected sludge at bottom
will be transferred through pumps to sludge holding tank.
The clear supernatant after clarifier will be collected in to filter feed tank. This tank will act as
housing tank for filter feed pumps. The clarified & dis-infected water will be then fed to filtration
unit.
Filtration unit consisting of Dual Media sand filter, activated carbon filter and ultra-filtration system
(optional) will remove the residual impurities such as odor/color, suspended solids, BOD/COD. The
treated water after the filtration unit will be collected in Irrigation cum Flushing water storage tank
from where it is transferred to flushing water tank at terrace & Irrigation System.
Excess sludge from the bottom of the settling tank will be removed and transferred to sludge holding
tank. Air grid will be provided in this tank to avoid conversion into anaerobic conditions, thickening
of sludge and keep sludge in homogenous condition. The digested & thickened sludge will be further
thickened through Sludge Dewatering System (Filter press with screw pump) and disposed-off
periodically through closed tanker or can be reused as manure.

Sewer System
The alignment and slope of the sewer line will follow the road network, drains or natural
ground surface and will be connected to the trunk sewers. The discharge point will be a
treatment plant, a pumping station, a water course or an intercepting sewer. Pumping stations
would be provided at places where the natural slope of the terrain is insufficient to permit
gravity flow or the cost of excavation is uneconomical to do the same.
7. RAIN WATER HARVESTING
In the upcoming IT/IT Enabled Services project there is provision for rain water harvesting
storage tanks as per required norms. The storm water disposal system in the proposed premises
is required to be self-sufficient in order to avoid any collection/stagnation of water and
flooding of the area. The quantum of storm water run-off depends upon intensity and duration
of precipitation and time required for such flow to reach the drains. The drains will be located
on both sides of the carriage way. Taking the advantage of road camber, the runoff will flow
towards the drains from the roads. The storm water from various plots and streets will be

CONCEPTUAL PLAN
M/s CBS International Projects Pvt. Ltd.9
carried to an adjacent drain by a pipe through catch basins. It has been decided to provide 8
rain water harvesting pits at selected locations, which will catch the maximum run-off from the
area.
1) Since the existing topography is congenial to surface disposal, a network of storm water pipe-drains has
been planned adjacent to roads. The water from the roofs of all buildings will be brought down through rain water
pipes.
2) The proposed storm water system consists of pipe drain, catch basins and storage tanks at regular
intervals for rain water harvesting.
3) For basement parking, the rainwater from ramps will be collected in the basement storm water storage
tank. The water will be pumped out to the nearest external storm water drain.
The Rain water +harvesting system have been designed as per the guidelines of CGWB. The ground water level in
the area is 8-10 meters bgl. Peak hourly rainfall has been considered as 40 mm/hr. The design specifications of the
rain water harvesting plan are as follows:
Catchments/roofs will be accessible for regular cleaning.
The roof will have smooth, hard and dense surface, which is less likely to be damaged
allowing release of material into the water. Roof painting will be avoided since most
paints contain toxic substances and the same may peel off.
All gutter ends will be fitted with wire mesh screen and a first flush device will be
installed. It is ensured that most of the debris viz leaves, plastic bags, paper pieces etc
carried by the rain water from the rooftop will get arrested by the mesh at the terrace
outlet and prevent contamination. It is ensured that the runoff of first 10-20 minutes of
rainfall will flush off completely.
No sewage or wastewater will be admitted into the system.
No wastewater from areas having oil, grease or other pollutants will be connected to the
system.
Estimation of storm water load, total volume of storm water and number of pits to be
developed
Roof-top area = Ground Coverage = 24,197.68 m2
Green Area = 39,375.66 m2
Paved Area = Net Plot Area – (Roof-top Area + Green Area)
= 1,02,949 – (24,197.68 + 39,375.66)
= 39,375.66 m2
IT/IT Enabled Services At Plot no. - 1, Sector - 90, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
CONCEPTUAL PLAN
M/s CBS International Projects Pvt. Ltd.10
Runoff Load
Roof-top Area = 24,197.68 × 0.04 × 0.95
= 919.5 m3
Green Area = 39,375.66 × 0.04 × 0.2
= 315 m3
Paved Area = 39,375.66 × 0.04 × 0.70
= 1,102.5 m3
Total Runoff Load = 919.5 + 315 + 1,102.5
= 2,337 m3
Taking 15 minutes Retention Time, Total volume of storm water = 2,337/4
= 584.25 m3
Taking the effective dia. and depth of a Recharge pit 6m and 3m respectively, Volume of a
single Recharge pit = π r2h= 3.14 × 3× 3× 3 = 84.78 m
3
Hence No. of pits required = 584.25/84.78 = 6.89 Pits say 7 pits.
Thus seven Rain Water Harvesting pit is being proposed for artificial rain water recharge
within the project premises.

Hence, the Municipal Solid Waste Management will be conducted as per the guidelines
of Municipal Solid Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules, 2000.A Solid waste
management Scheme is depicted in the following figurefor the IT and IT Enabled
services development.
E-Waste Generation
"E-waste" is a popular, informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their "useful
life”. E-wastes are considered dangerous, as certain components of some electronic products
contain materials that are hazardous, depending on their condition and density. The hazardous
content of these materials pose a threat to human health and environment. Discarded
computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, fax machines, electric lamps, cell phones, audio
equipment and batteries if improperly disposed can leach lead and other substances into soil
and groundwater. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled in an
environmentally sound manner so that they are less harmful to the ecosystem. Reducing e-
waste requires that we reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. The goal is nothing less than zero
land fill. Network of scrap dealers will be motivated to procure from door to door for the
smaller quantities.
E-Waste Management & Disposal
E-waste generated shall be managed as per E-waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2011. E-
waste generation shall be minimized by adopting practice of repair. Un-repairable electronics
shall be sold off to government authorized agencies for management & disposal.
