5. Signed framed Lords Taverner’s golf day sheet (1998) featuring Ted Dexter, Mark Ramprakash and Robert Powell.

Ted Dexter captained Sussex from 1960 to 1965, and became England captain for the tour to India and Pakistan in 1961-62. He was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1961. Under his captaincy, Sussex won the inaugural Gillette Cup in 1963, and retained the title in 1964. He lost the England captaincy after losing the Ashes 1-0 at home in 1964, but remained in the Test side as a batsman.

He retired from cricket in 1968 to concentrate on other interests. He became a cricket writer and broadcaster. In 1989 he became chairman of the England cricket selectors. He also became president of the MCC, and was chairman of the MCC's cricket committee until 2003, when he was replaced by Tony Lewis. He was awarded the CBE in the New Year's Honours List in December 2000.

Mark Ramprakash was selected for his first Test match for England against the West Indies at Headingley in 1991.

A breakthrough of sorts came in the 1997-98 Test series against the West Indies when he scored 154 not out in the fifth Test in Barbados. It was his first Test century and it earned him regular selection for the England team for the next few years. While he scored a number of fifties against various teams (notably Australia), he was only able to add one more century to his tally - 133 against Australia at the The Oval in the 2001 Ashes series.

Robert Powell had a small role in the original version of The Italian Job playing one of the drivers, but had to wait a few years for his first success, playing scientist Toby Wren in the BBC's sci-fi series, Doomwatch in 1970.

For several years, Powell continued as a television regular, with occasional forays into film, notably as Mahler in 1974. He also notably played Captain Walker in the 1975 Ken Russell film version of Tommy.

He then played Jesus Christ in the series Jesus of Nazareth following a successful second audition with Franco Zeffirelli. For this role, Powell was nominated for a BAFTA award, and collected the TV Times Best Actor award for the same performance.

In 1978, Powell took the leading role of Richard Hannay in the third film version of The Thirty-Nine Steps. In 1980 Powell appeared in the film Harlequin playing the Harlequin of the title. For this performance, he won the Best Actor Award at the Paris Film Festival. In 1982, he won Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for his role in Imperativ.

Powell then agreed to a request from his old friend and golf partner, comedian Jasper Carrott, taking the part of an incompetent detective in a succession of sketches that formed part of Carrott's television series. The Detectives was so popular that it was turned into a sitcom, Powell's first and only venture into this genre. In early 2005 he became a regular in the UK TV soap, Holby City.

Donated by Paul Skeates. Played in the Pro Am at Sunningdale Golf Club in 1998, and collected the signatures on the day.

35. Named Wilson golf bag of Paul Lawrie. Donated by Peter Gibbins

Paul Lawrie won the Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie in 1999, in one of the most famous finishes of all. Lawrie came back from the largest third-round deficit ever faced by a major championship winner; going into the final day, he trailed the leader, Van de Velde, by 10 shots.

This was the Open where the Frenchman, Jean Van de Velde ,famously threw away a three-shot lead on the final hole. Lawrie won a four-hole playoff against Van de Velde and the American Justin Leonard. An unusual aspect of Lawrie's victory was that he was neither leader or co-leader at any time during his regulation 72 holes, only moving into a share of the lead when the leaders came back to him after he had completed his final round.

Lawrie has won 9 professional tournaments, including 5 European Tour wins since he turned pro in 1986.

Donated by Peter Gibbins. Given to Peter by the pro of Inch Marlow in 1990, were Paul Lawrie trained as an assistant pro.
