Contact the Borough for confirmaon of these meengs. Zoning Hearing Board Meengs are held as needed. Contact for Borough Office at (412) 221-6012 for specific meengs and updates. Attention all LANDLORDS: April 30th and October 31st are important deadlines for you: Every owner of rental dwelling units shall submit updated Tenant listings on or before April 30th and October 31st of each calendar year. Forms are available on-line or at the Borough office. (see Ordinance 705, 2/17/1981; as amended by Ordinance 724, 5/4/1982; and by Ordinance 830, 2/13/1995) The Brush Grinder Clean-Up Program : Brush Grinder Program runs during the months of both April and November. This April please put your brush at the curb for pick up by our grinder machine. Tree and brush trimmings and limbs/logs must be no larger than 12 inches in diameter. All brush material must be free and clear of roots and dirt as this is a safety hazard and could be dangerous for our public workmen. STREET SWEEPING: Streets will be swept on a weekly basis beginning the first full week of April through the last week of May. Beginning June through September the streets will be swept the full third week of the month. New Garbage and Recycling Collection day is FRIDAY (except if there is a holiday then pick up is Saturday.) When a contract comes to an end, the Borough must put the service out to bid. This is exactly what occurred with our garbage/recycling contract. The government is required by law to take the lowest, responsible bidder. The government is required by law to do their due diligence and investigate the qualifications and references of any bidder before awarding the bid. The bid was reviewed by our legal department and County Hauling met all the requirements and specifications to be awarded this bid as the lowest, responsible bidder. Our previous vendor had been with the Borough for over 20 years. Unfortunately they were not successful in their bid this time. Of course there have been hiccups and glitches the first few times with the new vendor, same as there were 20 years ago when the previous one began the route. We were surprised to learn there are some streets where residents put their garbage can on the front street and their recycling can on the alley behind their street. This is a practice that will need looked into as it would cause confusion and missed cans, which is exactly what occurred. As would be expected, prices do increase over the years, however this increase is only $3.00 per quarter or $12 per year, which works out to less than 25 cents per week. This price is locked in for the length of this 5 year contract. The Borough stands committed to making sure this vendor does a good job. We must give the new vendor the opportunity to learn the route and correct any problems, just like we did for the previous vendor. Please do not hesitate to call the Borough with any areas of concern. A phone call (412-221-6012) or e-mail ([email protected]) to the Borough will produce a faster response time than using social media. See page 2 for list of what is recyclable and what is not. Recycling alternatives for glass and electronics available are on page 2 & 3.

The Brush Grinder Clean-Up Program : Brush Grinder Program runs during the months of both April and

November. This April please put your brush at the curb for pick up by our grinder machine. Tree and brush

trimmings and limbs/logs must be no larger than 12 inches in diameter. All brush material must be free and clear

of roots and dirt as this is a safety hazard and could be dangerous for our public workmen.

STREET SWEEPING: Streets will be swept on a weekly basis beginning the first full week of April

through the last week of May. Beginning June through September the streets will be swept the full third week of the month.

New Garbage and Recycling Collection day is FRIDAY (except if there is a holiday then pick up is Saturday.)

When a contract comes to an end, the Borough must put the service out to bid. This is exactly what occurred with our garbage/recycling contract.

The government is required by law to take the lowest, responsible bidder. The government is required by law to do their due diligence and investigate the qualifications and references of any bidder before awarding the bid. The bid was reviewed by our legal department and County Hauling met all the requirements and

specifications to be awarded this bid as the lowest, responsible bidder.
