The world that revolves around us has many issues and problems. Life, in general, is full of stress and pressure. Luckily humans have found them-selves a way to release this stress: tear formation.
People shed tears at least once in their lifetime. It is an inevitable action when we deal with emotions and stressful times. It cannot be controlled and happens naturally. It is an action that only humans can perform. “May I cry, or should I be brave?” – is a phase that often people often ask themselves. However, what people usually neglect is that the logic is actually the other way around – crying is courage.
What uniquely defines a human is our ability to express mental and emo-tional feelings through facial gestures. One action that people naturally perform is crying. While the majority of the mammals, like most primates, have ability to produce tears, it is only the human species out of the entire animal kingdom that possess the ability to cry when exposed to extreme emotional scenarios.
There are three basic types of tears
that all humans can seemingly perform. Basal tears are natural fluids that the corneas of the eyes produce to lubricate and moisturize the eyes against dust and particles. Reflex tears are another type of tears formed from the contact of the eyes with more biological and chemical substances, such as onion vapours and tear gases. The third one is uniquely human: the crying or weep-ing tears.
The two most common situations that cause crying tears to form are depression and extreme pride or happiness. Sadness accounts for about 50% of the tears, while happi-ness only accounts for about 20%. The rest is caused from a mix of emo-tions such as anger, sympathy,
anxiety, and fear. Most people see tears as a sign of weakness; however, they are actually a sign of courage in dealing with your emotions. After such emotional relief, most people feel better, because those tears remove chemicals that build up during emotional stress, making the individual physiologically in a better condition.
People that cry touch their deepest emotions. A lot of people purposely keep and hide their emotions deep down within themselves, which is very unhealthy both mentally and physi-cally. Finding a correct way of releas-ing stress is very important, thereby disallowing tragedies to occur for many individuals.
Next time if you encounter a person in tears, you should try to understand the reason why the person shed them, as there is always a unique story behind what triggered such an emotional action.
Sometimes, it might be better off for a person to cry from mental exhaustion than to accumulate the stress and find no room for release.

What is it that your heart desires? What is it that you want out of
life? I have been contemplating this question over many sleepless
nights. We all need to stop what we are doing, and think: If I could do
anything, anything I wanted for the rest of my life what would it be?
Maybe a few already know this answer, but for the rest of us, includ-
ing myself, we have to work hard to discover it. When you have to
work hard at discovering your talents and purpose, you appreciate it
much more after you finally find it.
If you do not like what you are studying or do not know where you
are going in life, think about and most importantly write down the
TOP 10 Goals that you want to accomplish. The more you think
about them, the more they will come to life! You need to look into
your heart and ask why was I born? Do not settle for anything less,
because none of us know when our last day on this earth will be, and
you must live it to the fullest.
The following is the exact story of my life, and I am sure many of you
have a similar one. I did not know what I was going to do after I
finished my studies. I am in Math/Bus now. When I was 17, I had a
strong desire to go and help orphans in Africa. My parents thought I
was not realistic, and so I locked those dreams inside my heart. Then
I didn’t know what I wanted to do (I thought I didn’t), but in my heart
I have always had this desire to help. Everyone around me thought
the normal thing to do was to get a job in finance. Now with gradua-
tion slowly approaching and time ticking, I looked into myself. I
figured that if I could help people achieve their goals everyday that
would be the best life I could ever live! This is called a life coach, and
it is not your average job.
The journey of finding your strengths and what you want to do may
be long, but after you do it, you will be living the life you were born
to live. The best way to find out if you are on the right track is to
know whether you are enjoying what you are studying. Your heart
won’t lie. You just have to listen to it. Sometimes this can be the
hardest thing, because often times we do not want to hear what our
hearts are telling us, because it is not your typical life path, but this is
where true happiness lies! We create our own happiness.
In today’s competitive environment, just like Larry Smith, my
economics professor says, you have to be excellent at what you do,
and that begins with loving what you do. Many of you will be asking,
but what can I do? Firstly, you must discover your strengths, and
then notice what makes you feel good and feel like you have a
purpose. Research jobs, or create your own. Be curious and you will
always find something new in your life’s path that will help you. Even
by reading this, you are already thinking about your life. In Canada,
there are so many opportunities that grant you the freedom to
choose anything you love. If you are only trying to please your
parents, like I was, you will wake up one day when you are 40 and
hate your life for living it for someone else. You need to stand up and
face reality. You need to discover your gift NOW and go explore.
Here are some books that helped me: Become who you were born to
be, and The Secret.
Remember: The way you think when you lose is the amount of time
it takes before you win. Also, work like you don’t need money, love
like you’ve never been hurt, and dance like no one’s watching!
Happy searching!
