Issue 2 – Term 1 – Week 6 Monday, 2nd March 2015
Issue 4– Term 1 – Week 8 Wednesday 20 March 2019
Dear Students, Parents / Carers and Families
This week, we are recognising two significant, national days of action: Bullying. No Way!; and Harmony Day. Students will be engaged in learning opportunities focused on these days throughout the week. Harmony Day represents inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone – values that are reflected in our school everywhere, every day. The day also celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. To participate in Harmony Day activities, Thursday is an out of uniform day and students are encouraged to wear something orange. While we are proud of the safe, kind and friendly environment our school provides for our students, we are committed to being proactive in bullying prevention. Students will be exploring the topic with their teacher throughout the week. It is important that we continue conversations about this topic and we encourage our students to report, to an adult, any behaviour that makes them feel unsafe.
Congratulations to Ashton, Cody and Tyeson who
have been selected to represent West Lake
Macquarie in Rugby League teams. Congratulations
also to Ethan who was selected for the West Lake
Macquarie Soccer team. We are very proud of you,
boys!
Don’t forget to join us for the Community Yarn on
Thursday afternoon at 3.30pm. We will be discussing
our Yarning Circle and are very keen for community
involvement. Afternoon tea will be provided.

NAPLAN
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy – important skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. The NAPLAN tests are designed to help us make sure students are on track with their literacy and numeracy development. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in NAPLAN tests for reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
NAPLAN Practice Test During Week 9 of this term students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in a NAPLAN practice test. This is a 45 minute test where students will be able to experience the new NAPLAN online platform. It allows students to become familiar with the type of questions that are going to be asked when they do NAPLAN online in Term 2.
NAPLAN Online Between May 13 and May 24, our school will participate in NAPLAN Online. Students do not need to be computer experts to take the NAPLAN test online. Making sure students have computer skills is part of our school curriculum, and our teachers will ensure your child is familiar with the online format. To see the types of questions and interactive features of NAPLAN Online, visit the public demonstration site. If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher. 13 March 2019 Dear Parents / Carers
During week 8 of our school term, Booragul Public School will recognise two significant national events:
Bullying. No Way! Take action every day which is the National Day of Action against
Bullying and Violence (NDA); and
Harmony Week which celebrates Australia’s multiculturalism and is about inclusiveness,
respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.
During the week students will participate in lessons which support students to recognise and take a stand against bullying. On Thursday 21 March, we will hold an out of uniform day. Students are encouraged to wear orange in support of cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. Students will be engaged in a variety of multicultural activities on this day. Thanking you for your support Kylie Smith Kristy Luff Assistant Principal Principal
