Message from the Head Teacher
At the end of yet
another busy couple of
weeks we have lots to
celebrate. This week
the children have
been enjoying the
STEM days where year
2 have been looking at
robotics systems. Each
class has experienced
the activities such as
the tallest balloon
challenge. Groups have
also worked with
Cavendish Nuclear,
finding out how electricity is made. A huge thank you to Mrs Price
for organising such a fantastic and fun filled few days. We would
also like to thank Mr Turner of Cavendish Nuclear and Mr Price of
Eastman, (Mrs Price’s husband) and their colleagues who came
to work with the children.
Today we had Sports Day in the glorious
sunshine and saw Blue House win the trophy.
Well done to both teachers and parents who

Learning in Griffin Class
In Maths, we have been continuing to learn about geometry and have been
practising some very important skills. We have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes
and have learnt how to describe, draw and make them. We have also been
learning about angles as a way of describing a turn, and looking for different
angles in the world around us. We have learnt about horizontal and vertical lines

and pairs of perpendicular and parallel lines. This week, we have moved onto telling the time and
solving problems involving time. We have already learnt lots about telling the time and know how
important it is to keep practising these skills in school and at home.
In our English lessons this term, we have been using our amazing topic knowledge, and have been
carrying out our own research to write a non-chronological report about famous landmarks. We
have loved learning more about statues, monuments, churches, amphitheatres, pyramids and
towers all around the world. We have been learning how to write our fascinating facts in interesting
sentences with description, explanation, interesting openers and conjunctions. We are looking
forward to showing you our finished reports so that you can learn more about these breath-taking
and fascinating creations. We have also been practising our geography skills in our topic lessons and
have been learning how to use and create maps. We have all agreed that these skills are quite tricky
but very useful.
As part of our P.E. sessions with Progressive Sports, we have been practising the skills that we will need
for Sports Morning. We have been learning some excellent techniques for how to run, jump and
throw to the best of our ability; this has been lots of fun. We cannot wait until Sports Morning so that
we can show you our amazing athletics skills.
We are all very excited in Griffin Class to be going on our school trip to We The Curious this coming
Monday (1st July). Whilst we are there, we will have the opportunity to watch a science show, visit
the planetarium, as well as explore the usual interactive exhibits. We cannot wait for a wonderful day
of scientific discovery and look forward to telling you all about it.
School Disco Don’t forget the school Disco next Thursday. Get your dancing shoes on!
