MEANING OF ISLAM
The word ‚Islam‛ means submission and surrender
to Allah by sincerely worshipping Him alone and
not worshipping any other god, lord or master. All
of the Prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses,
Jesus and Muhammad were Muslims.
The word for peace ‚salam‛ is derived from the
same three-letter Arabic root word - SLM - as the
word ‚Islam.‛ Indeed, only through Islam will man
find and establish real and comprehensive peace
ISLAMIC GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1. Respect for the human life
2. Equality of human Status
3. Freedom of thought and opinion
4. Freedom of learning and teaching
CONDITION OF PEACE IN ARAB
1. Before Islam
2. When Islam came
3. IN Quran
4. IN khutaba hajat ul wida
5. According to mulana Wahiduddin khan (11

MEDINA CHARTER OF THE PROPHET
MUHAMMAD (PBUH) AND PLURALISM
The Medina Charter serves as an example of finding resolution in a
dispute where peace and pluralism were achieved not through military
successes or ulterior motives but rather through respect, acceptance,
and denunciation of war —aspects that reflect some of the basic tenets
of the religion Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was guiding
and promoting. Through an examination of the Medina Charter, I will
show how pluralism was advanced and instituted in Medina, and the
reasons reflecting on such a document could help avoid the divide and
misunderstanding plaguing much thought, rhetoric, and media today
between Muslims, Christians, and Jews all over the world.
The Quran states that the Lord “teaches by the pen” (96:1-
5). This is indicative of the Medina Charter in that it is a
reflection of these verses, an example of how God is
educating people and changing thought patterns through
discourse, whether in speech or writing. In this case, the
discussion resulted in peace achieved through mutual
consultation, contemplation, and through seeking
agreements in which tribes felt they had benefited from the
charter and had not been robbed of status or undermined by
unresolved antagonism from the past.
HUDAIBIYAH INCIDENT
Hudaibiyah encounter occurred not only gave Muslims courage but it also tested their courage and faith in Islam.
JOURNEY FOR UMRA
As per established practice, the Makkanswere bound to allow pilgrims coming – but without arms – to perform Umra. But this time Quraish leaders not allowed Muslims to enter in Makkah.
RUMOR OF KILLING UTHMAN BIN AFFAN
In this situation, despite 400 km away from theircity and having no proper arms to fight, Muslimswere ready to fight unto death. This broke themorale of Makkans and they agreed to discussterms of peace with Muslims
TERMS OF HUDAIBIYAH ACCORD
There will be an armistice between the two parties and no fighting
for the next 10 years.
Any person or tribe who wishes to join Muhammad and to enter
into any agreement with him is free to do so. Likewise any person
or tribe who wishes to join the Quraish and to enter into any
agreement with them is free to do so.
If any Makkan went to Madinah, then Muslims would return him to
Makkah, but if any Muslim from Madinah went to Makkah, he would
not be returned.
If any young man, or one whose father is alive, goes to Muhammad
without permission from his father or guardian, will be returned to
his father or guardian. But if anyone goes to the Quraish of
Makkah, will not be returned.
This year the Muslims will go back without entering Makkah. But
next year Muhammad and his followers can enter Makkah, spend
three days and perform the Umrah.
PATIENCE OF PROPHET (PEACE BE UPON HIM)
The most irritating conditions of the treaty werethe clause Nos. 3 & 5, but the Prophet (peace beupon him) showed extreme patience by acceptingall these terms.
FATAH AL-MUBEEN
When the Prophet returned from Hudaibiya, hereceived the Divine revelation that Almighty Allahhad put a seal of honor on this treaty called “Fatahal-Mubeen”
ABU JANDAL
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to AbuJandal “we have just concluded a treaty withQuraish in the name of Allah and we honor it. Bepatient and resign yourself to the will of Allah. Hewill provide you relief”.
