Digital Citizenship

Demonstrate appropriate digital citizenship:

◦ Dress appropriately - Be cognizant that this is still class time. Therefore, please be fully

and appropriately clothed wearing the iPrep school uniform.

◦ Maintain a proper posture - Laying down is inappropriate. Please either sit upright

or stand (whichever is comfortable) to promote active learning.

◦ Be present in the learning environment- Remove any potential

distractions (i.e pets, cell phones, other tablets, electronic devices,

television, sidebar chats, etc.)

◦ Cameras/Video must be on – Your full attendance is appreciated

and expected. Therefore, it is mandatory that your video remains turned on and your

face is consistently recognizable during the virtual class session.

◦ Mute your microphones - Remain muted during presentations to cut down

on unnecessary distractions/background noise. Unmute when teacher requests, you have

a question, or you are contributing to the discussion.

Page 21: iPrep Orientation 2020 · Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in all core courses Students with D or F in any course (academic/conduct) will receive: 1. Warning –Teacher/Parent Conference

Digital Citizenship

Create a conducive learning space - Be mindful of controlling the setting behind and around you. Items in your background can distract classmates and/ or send improper messages to those viewing your screen.

Test your technology before class - Being ready for class is important. Please work out the bugs, test your volume and adjust the camera angle before start time to ensure that you are ready to participate and remember to charge your battery and plug your device into a power source.

Be on time - Meeting two or three times a week means every minute is important – as the saying goes, if you are early, you are on time.

Be prepared to engage - Like a face -to- face class, have materials ready, pre- class assignments completed and talking points ready - participation is vital in the digital space.

Speak up -You might have a great connection and a high- quality microphone, but that might not be true for all - speak clearly and fully.

Refrain from eating/snacking during LIVE sessions

Remain seated during LIVE sessions unless teacher requests movement
