leadership fellowshipsThe 2014-2015 Leadership Fellowships, a value of at least $4,000 per person, were awarded to Heidi LaBounty, Clive, and Vickie Parker, Lovilia. Both will develop their skills as leaders for AEYC and our field. Both currently hold local chapter leadership roles for Iowa AEYC, Heidi in Mid Iowa and Vickie in Rolling Prairie; Vickie also is an Iowa AEYC play coach. Heidi is completing her masters’ degree in Early Childhood Education. Her project will involve offering administrative training to central Iowa directors utilizing the Director’s Toolbox series. Vickie will visit Reggio Emilia in Italy to learn more about their philosophy, and come back and share with others by providing training opportunities.

The late Tony Lacy passionately promoted the importance of membership in his role on the Iowa AEYC Governing Board. In his memory, the annual Tony Lacy Membership Scholarship provides a one-year membership scholarship for new AEYC members. This scholarship is supported by revenue from the Fall Institute raffle and private donations.

partnerships

IHSA and Iowa AEYC completed another successful year of partnership through continued support of the IHSA board and by helping to coordinate six trainings in topic areas including CLASS, PBIS, and more. With an additional eight networkings conducted during the year, over 350 attendees received 108 hours of training. Grantees found it easy to register for events through the website, www.iowaheadstart.com. They also found the website a central location for agency messages, board updates and upcoming events.
