Cartlidge Morland is a firm of independent financial advisers providing financial advice, investment management and employee

benefit services to a wide range of private investors, trusts, partnerships, private companies, PLCs, charities and governmental

organisations. Founded in 1996, and wholly owned by its partners, Cartlidge Morland provides a personal service backed

by the latest financial research and administration technology.

Investment management is fundamental to our business - we manage or have funds under influence in excess of £500m for

individuals and trustees - and we use our extensive expertise and experience to achieve the best possible results for our clients.

Who uses our service?We provide a personal service that is tailored specifically for each client. In other words Cartlidge Morland provides a bespoke

service taking into consideration risk profile, time horizons, income requirements and tax efficiency. Many clients have long-

standing relationships with Cartlidge Morland and our intention is to provide on-going advice that enables our clients to invest

to their best advantage.

Cartlidge Morland also works closely with members of other professions such as solicitors, accountants, actuaries and

bankers, to provide a coherent service to individuals or trustees. We work well as part of a professional advisory team.

Our clients include those who have inherited their wealth and/or built it through entrepreneurship or success in professional

life. We find our investment management service rarely suits those who have less than £150,000 available. Cartlidge Morland

provides a complementary service for those with less immediate wealth to be invested.

expertiseAngela Cooper heads our investment management

division. Angela is a respected figure in the City investment

community having been Research Director of two of the

largest companies of independent financial advisers, Bain

Clarkson (now part of Aon) and Hogg Robinson. Angela

joined the financial services industry after graduating

from the London School of Economics and specialised in

investment research on joining Noble Lowndes (now part

of Barclays).

Few can match Angela’s exceptional knowledge of the fund management industry and indeed the career histories of so many

of the fund managers! There is not a major investment sector that Angela has not covered in a career spanning more than

twenty years. Angela’s knowledge is an invaluable advantage to Cartlidge Morland in its fund selection process for which she

is responsible, supported by her team.

experienceThere is no substitute for experience in the investment management sector – it is an essential ingredient for sound judgement.

Cartlidge Morland will not commit client funds to any investment that we do not thoroughly understand ourselves – we need to

know what will make it ‘go up’ and what will make it ‘come down’.

We choose funds run by managers who are proven experts and whose results are subject to public scrutiny. Cartlidge Morland

manages sufficient investments for fund managers to meet us privately so that we can understand and question how they are

running their funds.

selectionGlobal investment opportunities are vast, so we are necessarily selective in those we focus on. We concentrate client assets

in collective investment funds invested in UK, European, US, Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets equities, bonds, property

and cash. We also include hedge fund exposure and alternative investments such as private equity, Venture Capital Trusts

(VCTs) and bespoke property opportunities. Where appropriate, we may recommend funds which invest in thematic areas such

as financials and healthcare.

Our Investment Committee meets frequently, on a structured basis, to review our selections and to decide whether changes

should be made. This decision-making pulls together all the knowledge and experience available within Cartlidge Morland to

ensure we can give our best opinion.
