ABOUT Y-WE Young Women Empowered started in 2010 with the aim of changing the lives of young women and girls in the Pacific Northwest, by investing in their education, aspirations, and successes. About our programs: Since our inception, our programs have doubled, serving over 400 girls annually. Y-WE nurtures strong, confident, and service-minded leaders. We do this by building positive relationships with adult mentors and peers; teaching college and career skills; engaging girls in service projects; and providing a social justice education. Vision for the future: We envision a world where all girls, regardless of race or socioeconomic background, have the opportunities and resources to succeed and achieve their goals.

YOUNG WOMEN EMPOWERED General Information 2014

Our Mission: 2014 marks Young Women Empowered’s 4th year of changing lives by mentoring young women to conquer personal challenges, set goals for their

future, and achieve college and career success, and make positive changes in their communities. Y-WE empowers young women from diverse backgrounds to step up as leaders in their schools, communities, and the world. Whom We Serve: Y-WE provides life skills and mentorship for girls in the greater Seattle area. We serve girls, ages 12-18, and mentors, ages 19-70+; everyone is welcome to participate. 90% of the girls and 60% of the adults are women of color, over 70% of the girls are from immigrant communities. Most of the program participants are from low-income families and cannot afford tuition for enrichment programs. Our youth and mentors also represent a myriad of family, sexual orientation, religious, political, and educational backgrounds.

Program Impact: Y-WE girls work with their mentors to apply for college, jobs, and organize service projects. They receive over 100 hours of mentorship, which improves their academic achievement, self-confidence, public speaking, & leadership skills. Statistics show that the number one way to improve the world is to invest in young women; girls reinvest 90% of the resources back into their communities.

Program Growth: In just 4 years, Y-WE has grown from serving 40 girls each year to serving over 400! Our budget has grown from only $30,000/year to $250,000/year to fund the increasing demand for our services. Currently there are more girls and mentors vying to enroll in Y-WE than we can accommodate. This means we are at an exciting point in our development where we must raise more funds and offer more programs! On February 6th 2014, we will host a dinner, auction, and entertainment fundraiser for 200 of our major supporters. Our goal is to raise $75,000 at the event. What we need: Y-WE is seeking cash sponsors, auction items & donations of appetizers, desserts, wine, beer, soda and grocery gift cards for our Ignite Dinner.

Benefits of making a donation to your business: All donations are tax deductible and your business will receive recognition on all our web, social media, and event materials. You will also receive tickets to join us for the dinner.

Thank you for considering this investment in the power of young women!
