    Computer Aided Engineering

Computer Aided Engineering is the broad usage of computer software to aid in

    Engineering tasks.

Computer-aided engineering (CAE)is the use of computer software to simulate

performance in order to improve product designs or assist in the resolution of

engineering problems for a wide range of industries. This includes simulation,

validation, and optimization of products, processes, and manufacturing tools.

In general, there are 3 phases in any computer aided engineering tasks:

    Pre Processing (Finite Element Model)

    Analysis Post - Processing

    Finite Element Analysis

The user constructs a model of the

    part to be analyzed. Then

the geometry is divided into a number

    of discrete sub-regions or elements

    connected at discrete points called

nodes. Certain of these nodes will

levels on the model, showing a full

picture similar to that of photoelastic or

    moire experimental results. this

method is used for almost every kind

    of CAD components.

    have fixed displacements, and others

will have prescribed loads. Then the

loads of real value, direction and

type are applied on the model.

    Then the software display overlays

    colored contours representing stress

    About the Developer

Altair Engineering was established in 1985

Altair was founded by Jim Scapa, George Christ, and Mark Kistner

    HyperMesh was released in 1990

    ,

    throughout America, Europe and Asia.

Altair Engineering is the creator of theHyperWorkssuite ofCAE

    software products.
