Captain’s Responsibilities

Proper sign-in with intramural official15-20 minutes before game timeWU ID card: must have decal, photo, name and WUID visibleALL PLAYERS MUST BRING WU-ID TO CHECK IN –

ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!Assist intramural staff with potential situationsCheck email for League/Playoff UpdatesCheck IMLeagues.com for team scheduleMaintain Legal Rosters

To be eligible for playoffs, each player must play in a minimum of 1 game

Eligibility All officially enrolled students, faculty and staff, are

eligible to participate Players may participate on ONE co-ed team while

participating on ONE men’s or women’s team (Fraternity/Sorority teams are considered a men’s/women’s team)

No Olympic or former professional athletes that have competed in their respect sport within the past 5 years

NCAA varsity athletes are ineligible to compete in their sport or associated sports for an entire calendar year from the conclusion of that particular sports season Rosters may consist of a max of 3 ex-varsity athletes

who were rostered in 2013,2012, and 2011

Proper AttireJewelry, rubber bands, and strings are prohibited

Medical Alert All Earrings/Piercings Must Be Removed – NO EXCEPTIONSHard Casts are prohibitedHats and bandanas are prohibitedProper shoes are required

No metal spikes, cleats with metal, or toe cleats

Shin guards are highly recommended, but not required

Knee braces are permitted with approved protective covers

SUPERVISORS WILL HAVE FINAL SAY!!!

T-Shirt Policy

Teams are encouraged to show up and play in the same color jersey (exception: goalie has to wear a jersey color that differs from both teams)

If both teams are wearing the same color or team members do not all have same color…

PINNIES WILL BE WORN!!!!!!

ProtestsOnly protests based on questions of player eligibility and rule interpretation will be accepted

No protests on judgment calls

Must be done at the time of incident

Officials

Remember they are students too – they don’t deserve to be abused!

Can’t argue judgment calls

Respect the officials. Without them, we wouldn’t be playing.

EjectionsEjections may occur before, during or after any

contest Ejections may be made by any Intramural staff

memberAny ejected player must leave the playing area

and facility immediatelyIt is YOUR responsibility to assist the Intramural

staff in retrieving the ejected player’s identificationAll ejected players must schedule an appointment

to meet with Kyle Osburn before they can participate in ANY future intramural contests; suspensions will prohibit you from participating in all intramurals until reinstatement.

Forfeits and DefaultsForfeits

GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIMEServes as a loss on the recordWill be given a 0 sportsmanship ratingWinning team will receive a 5

day of your scheduled contestServes as a loss on the recordWill not affect your conduct ratingWill not be dropped from the league

CoRec Soccer RulesTeams consist of 8 players (can start with 6 players) and are only allowed these combinations:

4M / 4F, 3M / 4F, 4M / 3F, 3M / 3F,

Female Goals are worth 2 regardless if it is a penalty kick or not

Penalty Kicks: person taking the kick must be of the same gender of the person fouled

During shootout, must alternate genders and all goals are worth 1 (2 males, 2 females required but teams may begin with either gender)

Mercy Rule: 10 goals ahead at halftime or anytime thereafter

Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship points are based on your team’s conduct during each contest

1-5 Rating system per game Yellow Card(1 pt) = 3 in conduct Red Card(2 pt) = 1 in conduct Once 4 pts are accumulated, game will end

Teams must have an average of 3 points to be eligible for playoffs

Ejections are maximum of a 1

Weather IM supervisors can cancel

games at anytimeDecisions will be made hourlyTeams with rained out

games will receive no result It is possible that games may not

be rescheduled, based on time and availability of fields

Lightning Policy

If we hear thunder within 30 seconds of seeing the lightning, games will be postponed for 30 minutes

PlayoffsAll teams receiving an average of 3 sportsmanship points, no more than 1 forfeit, and no more than two defaults are eligible for playoffs

If a team drops below a 3 during the playoffs then they will be eliminated from the tournament

NO players can be added to a roster once the playoffs begin!!!!

Soccer RulesSoccer rules will be posted on IMLeagues.com by the end

of the weekNational Federation High School rules govern all play not

covered in intramural rulesTeams consist of 8 players

- Goalie must wear a different color shirt from both teams

- Need at least 6 to startNo Jewelry allowed!

Opposing team will have an indirect free kick from spot of foul if found.

Each half will be 20 minutes with a running clock There are no timeouts Overtime will be 5 minutes

First team to score and game is over If still tied, will result in 4 player shootout (postseason only) Mercy Rule: Game will stop if one team is up by 8 or more goals

The offside rule will be enforced (NEW RULE)Ball must completely cross over a line for it to be considered out of bounds or a goal.

Substitutions may take place: Must wait for the referee's signal

Yellow Cards A player can be cautioned with a yellow card for any of the following:

Unsportsmanlike behavior Dissent by word or action Delay of the start of the game Failing to respect the required distance (10 yards) Entering the field of play without word from the official Deliberately leaving the field of play without the ref’s permission Dangerous play

UPON RECEIVEING A YELLOW CARD, THE OFFENDING PLAYER MUST IMMEDIATELY SUBSTITUTE OUT OF THE GAME May re-enter on next legal substitution opportunity

Red CardsA player is ejected after receiving a red card for:

Serious foul play Violent conduct Spitting at an opponent or official Using offensive or abusive language Receiving a second yellow card in the same match

Two ejected players on a team in the same game will result in forfeiture of the game!

Yellow Card = 1 point; Red Card =2 points Anytime a team gets a total of 4 points in a game the team is

forfeited
