Into the Woods

Year 3 and 4 delighted their parents and friends with a variety show entitled “Into the Woods”. A

celebration of our woodlands and trees, the evening explored the importance of woodlands though song,

fairy tale, poetry and play.

A varied music programme included impressive part singing and ranged from the Teddy Bears’ Picnic

and The Gruffalo Song to an original composition from Mr Bentley himself. Tallulah gave a very

confident solo performance on her trumpet in Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Each class performed a scene with a

woodland setting. 4M gave us “The Animals of Farthing Wood”, 3J The Wind in the Willows, 3H The

Enchanted Wood and 4W the very surprising version of Red Riding Hood by Roald Dahl. All involved

considerable line learning and complex drama skills which showcased the progress the girls had made

as they developed from KS1 into KS2. Each Speech and Drama group also presented a piece of

performance poetry, with their own devised elements and interpretation. It was altogether a most

entertaining evening; the girls can be very proud of themselves.
