Firstly, congratulations on receiving so many awards! As we all know, you usually play solo during concerts. How does it feel collaborating with Diplo and Justin Bieber? “I am really absolutely grateful for these achievements! Oh, and thank you. Well, working with Diplo is alright since we like EDM but I was quite shocked that, actually, it was easy working with Bieber too! He’s a great guy. We are thinking of creating a new song” I am glad this collaboration does not only create excellent music but also friendship. In the future, do you perceive that EDM and pop music are slowly merging into one genre?

From the producer of ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits’ as well as a mixer in collaboration with Diplo and Justin Bieber, Skrillex created a Grammy-nominated song which not only peaked in eight different countries but also received a certified platinum in the United States. This 24-year-old disc jockey, together with Diplo, created a prominent and distinctive part of the song called drop which imitated the sound of a dolphin. As it seems too good to be true, this particular voice is owned by Justin Bieber that has been processed and turned into a high-pitched squealing sound. All the achievement and glory may not please few audiences, outrageously, some fans too.

Sonny Moore, better known as Skrillex, ensconced in a recording studio in downtown Los Angeles. He was awaiting the arrival of rock legends: Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek, also known as one half of The Doors. Thus, we decided to grab the opportunity and ask him a few questions.

We are thinking of creating a new song”

I am glad this collaboration does not only create excellent music but also friendship. In the future, do you perceive that EDM and pop music are slowly merging into one genre?

“Modern generation is starting to enjoy pop music especially when an underrated DJ remixed the original song. In my opinion, I wish to not see this new genre as we need people to give EDM a chance to be a well-known genre on its own.”

Pull out quote: These are not real fans, anything that becomes the norm; they don’t give a damn about it afterGreat answer, I agree that it should be given a spotlight in the music industry. The next question is a highly intrigued topic among EDM fans. Recently, some people are saying that you are a sell-out. What would be your response to this?

“I don't know exactly how I was quoted. Any artist can definitely get big if they decide to try something new or just really passionate about what they are doing. I believe that I chose to collaborate with Justin Bieber not because of his popularity but the willingness to try something

completely different. Receiving these awards require a great relationship and creativity. These are not real fans, anything that becomes the norm; they don’t give a damn about it after.”

Thank you for answering this quite intimidating question. Do you mind if we get a sneak peak of the new track that will be released this coming December?

“Oh sure, just little bits of info though.” He giggled. “Diplo and I decided to add a high pitched voice similar to the drop used on ‘Where are u now’ but this time it will be on the most unexpected part of the song. And, it’s no longer a dolphin sound but rather something seductive.”

Surely, after people have read this, there will rather be a commotion. Last question, this may be fairly personal but most of your fans would like to know if you fancy someone at the moment?

He laughed for a few seconds then said “Oh, uhm, well, I don’t want to think about love for now. I like to think that ‘someone’ whom I fancy is music. Life’s too short and I don’t want to be stressed at this time of my life. Let’s enjoy this freedom while it lasts.”

Ladies, you may heave a sigh of relief as Sonny Moore is single and does not seem bothered to enter a relationship for now. Few moments later, the rock legends finally arrived and we had to bid goodbye to Skrillex “Thank you very much for your humble acceptance of this interview” He gave us a warm smile and waved his hand. As Skrillex turned his back on us, a cinematic movement where he slowly placed his headphones on both of his ears was the last thing we saw.
