Philip Broderick has moved into the role of VP Port Agency & Turnarounds West Coast & Gulf, responsible for all turnaround and port agency operations on the West Coast and Gulf. He will be supported by Kate Anderson, Director Port Agency West Coast & Gulf and Paul Mitchell, Director Turnarounds West Coast & Gulf. Stan Webber, VP Port Agency North America, will continue in his role, working closely with the port agency teams on both coasts.

The Intercruises North America Shorex team, led by Greg Gordon, VP Shore Excursions North America & Caribbean, has been strengthened following the promotion of Marie Guerineau to the newly created role of Director Product Development North America. Marie will focus on new and innovative tour product development, working closely with Steve Earnshaw, Director Shore Excursions West Coast & Gulf and Martin Schooley, Director Shore Excursions East Coast.

Margaret Zacharis, currently VP New York Operations, will be transitioning into the role of VP Port Agency & Turnarounds East Coast, responsible for all turnaround and port agency operations on the East Coast. Margaret will be supported by Jenifer Trautwein, Director Port Agency East Coast, who joined Intercruises following the departure of Elizabeth Shearin in 2013 to join NYEDC. Jenifer has over nineteen years’ experience in port terminal and vessel operations throughout North America.

Anthony Newman, Intercruises Commercial Director, will relocate to Miami in May to allow a closer proximity to the heart of the cruise business and to develop further the key strategic relationships between Intercruises and its clients, with the objective of building long-term trusting alliances that will deliver success for all. He will continue to lead the Commercial Team and his role at Intercruises remains the same; working closely with the cruise lines to identify new revenue generating products and services.
Following a full business review led by Celeste Gladstone, VP Client Relationships, the Intercruises North America & Caribbean team was reorganized to support the evolving needs of the cruise industry. The new organization structure provides a strong platform for further development of the business, as well as greater clarity on accountabilities and closer working relationships between the turnaround and port agency teams on both the West Coast & Gulf and East Coast. Due to these changes, Kelly Webber, VP Turnarounds North America and Jason Deleo, Director Turnarounds & Transportation Seattle, have left Intercruises.

Following the merger of cruise associations under the CLIA umbrella organization, Intercruises has now been confirmed as a Global Executive Partner for 2014, becoming the only ground handler and port agent to collaborate with CLIA on a worldwide level.

Intercruises has completed its first year of dry docks and port agency operations in Cádiz, Spain, handling five dry docks and over 30 transit calls during 2013. Intercruises’ white label domestic coaching program in the UK has continued its steady growth, with a year on year increase in bookings for the 2014 season. The service provides cruise guests with a simple journey to and from their cruise ship via over 45 collection and drop-off points throughout the UK. Riccardo Centofanti, Intercruises Business Development Manager Shopping Programs, is coordinating Intercruises’ first shopping programs in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Shopping Programs was identified as high revenue potential activity, which smoothly integrates with Intercruises’ existing Australasia tour infrastructure, such as transportation and tour guides. The local Intercruises destination teams work with Riccardo to finalize supplier contracts, logistics and customize shopping programs for different cruise demographics.

COMMUNICATIONS SURVEY 2013 RESULTSJANUARY 2014
Intercruises donated over $3,500 to the Save the Children Emergency Fund, following the completion of the Intercruises Communications Survey 2013. Cruise line executives were asked to complete the survey, with a certain ammount donated to Save the Children for each completed survey. Key findings included: • 78% of respondents wanted to receive an Intercruises newsletter (which you are reading now!) • A downloadable PDF released every quarter was the most popular format and frequency for the Intercruises newsletter • More destination and contact information should be available via the Intercruises website

Intercruises’ in-house IT Department has been strengthened with the addition of Anabel Grande, who becomes the team’s second IT Analyst. The IT Department ensures all Intercruises activities are in accordance with TUI Travel PLC IT policy, including servers being hosted on a high availability 24/7 data center, encompassing backups and security procedures as a part of ISO 27001 and ISO 20001. The IT Department offers 24/7 technical support, delivered from different locations worldwide and leads the development of the QUARS operations evaluation system and IMS automated staff scheduling, payroll and invoicing system.

Riccardo Centofanti has joined Intercruises full time as Business Development Manager Shopping Programs. Riccardo will be setting up operations in Asia and Australia, before relocating to Barcelona. Shopping Programs is a new product within Intercruises’ services portfolio and Riccardo is responsible for the creation of shopping initiatives, sourcing
potential preferred shops and overseeing the liaison between Intercruises and shops regarding customer service and logistics. Riccardo has developed and managed cruise line shopping programs for over fifteen years, working alongside tour operators and leading cruise industry shopping concessionaires, such as Onboard Media and PPI.
The Intercruises Health & Safety Department has been strengthened following the recruitment of Emma Marcos Velasco as Health & Safety Executive, who will support Sian Rees, Health & Safety Manager, in overseeing all Intercruises Health & Safety and emergency response procedures. Intercruises has comprehensive Health & Safety procedures relative to regional operations and an ongoing
training program delivered worldwide. This includes Local Emergency Response Plans (LERP) and an Internal Emergency Response Plan (I-ERP), ongoing completion of risk checklists for all venues, transportation and suppliers, Care Team trained staff and a Deployment Care Team, an online Health & Safety system and a full client Safety Management System.

Intercruises Greece has established an in-house Port Agency Department, complementing the existing turnarounds and shore excursions departments, to enable the delivery of a comprehensive service to cruise vessels. George Pantelis, a 31 year cruise industry veteran, has been appointed as Port Agency Manager Greece and works closely with Dimitris Bekos, National Manager Greece, in realizing operations synergies between the turnarounds, shore excursions and port agency departments to provide a high quality service to cruise vessels.

Serafin outlined a port agent’s role and how it continues to evolve, while Teresa discussed the extensive ground handling preparations that must be undertaken for welcoming a cruise vessel to port.

Virginia Quintairos, Regional Director Mediterranean, participated in a round table discussion on shore excursion operations at the first Balearic Cruise Forum. Virginia talked about the importance of the local community’s support for the cruise industry and the growing impact of independent shore excursions operators.
The objective of the event was to outline the business opportunities cruise traffic can bring and discuss how to prepare the port, destination and tourism services to meet the needs of cruise ships and cruise guests. The event was attended by port authorities, travel agents, tour operators and local tourism services stakeholders.
Martin Bidgood, Regional Director Australia, participated in a panel discussion entitled “What Makes a Destination Rock”, highlighting key aspects of shorex operations and examples of destinations that “Rock” (example below). This was the first CLIA Cruise3Sixty event in Australia, attended by travel agents and featuring discussion sessions with cruise industry executives.
Destinations that Rock Example: Port Hedland, the world’s largest tonnage iron ore port, is now a growing cruise destination thanks to the efforts of the local community in promoting their town and supporting local cruise stakeholders. The Intercruises shorex team, led by James Coughlan, Shorex Manager Australia, has developed a unique tour in which guests witness each stage of the iron ore mining process at the BHP Billiton Iron Ore property, a 320 hectare site and one of the largest iron ore exporting facilities in the world.

Mark Robinson, Intercruises Managing Director, delivered a presentation on the “Challenges & Prospects of Cruise Activities in the Mediterranean”, highlighting how ground handlers and destinations can work together, as well as looking at the challenge of independent shorex providers. Serafin Blazquez, Port Agency Manager Mediterranean, also attended the annual event. The 43rd Medcruise Assembly was held in Alanya, Turkey, with the objective of promoting the cruise industry in the Mediterranean.
PORT ISSUES DEBATED AT CLIA LEADERSHIP FORUM NOVEMBER 2013
Intercruises participated in the CLIA Leadership Forum 2013, which discussed key issues and opportunities within the cruise industry. Philip Broderick, Vice President Port Agency & Turnarounds, West Coast & Gulf, participated on the panel entitled “Ports and Cruise Lines – A Partnership Approach”, which discussed different issues to be addressed in collaboration with ports.

The Responsible Tourism in Destinations Symposium 2013 discussed the challenges facing destinations seeking to achieve sustainable tourism, with a particular focus on Barcelona. A cocktail reception was held on the Intercruises stand at Cruise Shipping Asia Pacific as part of Intercruises10th Anniversary celebrations, including authentic Bandra dancers and a professional calligrapher, who drew guests’ names in Chinese. As part of the Cruise Shipping Asia-Pacific conference program, Laura Vlad, Regional Director Asia, presented on logistical challenges in Asia, such as visa/immigration issues and a lack of multilingual guides, as well as highlighting the emerging ports trying to enter the market.

PORT AGENCY ROLE DEBATED AT REPATRIATION EVENT DECEMBER 2013

Mike Koutz, Director Operations Support North America, will speak as part of the Thursday conference program, during a panel entitled “Cruise Terminal Design Now and for the Future”, which focuses on how to combine iconic architecture and practical operation efficiency in terminal design. Members of the Intercruises Australia team raised money for The Global Poverty Project by participating in The Color Run, a 5km race where participants are doused in different colored powders at each kilometer. The Global Poverty Project aims to end extreme poverty worldwide by 2030.

Intercruises’ Barcelona based teams collected more than 170KG of food for the Banc Dels Aliments, a member of The European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA), which has the goal of giving each person in Europe access to a sufficient and balanced diet, through the fight against waste.
