How to Use This ApplicationEach week of the A Word a Day interactive application follows the same format, making it easy for both students and teachers to use. Teachers can use an electronic whiteboard or projection system to lead interactive class lessons, or one or more students can complete the activities on their own at a computer.

Quick Tips for Getting Started

Log in to Evan-Moor Portals and click on the icon for A Word A Day. This will bring up the Available Units menu, where you can select Week 1 to begin. Then choose the word or activity you would like students to complete from the week’s menu.

How to Use This ApplicationEach week of the A Word a Day interactive application follows the same format, making it easy for both students and teachers to use. Quick Tips for Getting Started

Log in to Evan-Moor Portals and click on the icon for A Word A Day. This will bring up the Available Units menu, where you can select Week 1 to begin. Then choose the word or activity you would like students to complete from the week’s menu.

Click on Quick launch next lesson to jump to the lesson that comes after the one you completed last.

From the menu for the weekly unit, select a day from the left column, then click on the green checkmark in the right column to launch the lesson.

The Interactive ActivitiesThe Daily Language Review interactive application helps students master and retain grade-level language and reading skills using 36 weeks of interactive lessons.

The interactive lessons for Monday through Friday consist of a variety of activities you can present to a whole-class or small-group. Once students are familiar with the application, they may also complete the activities on their own or with a partner at a computer.

In each Daily Language Review grade level, you’ll find the following types of interactive activities

• Multiple Choice Questions (Single and Multiple Answer)Students select the correct response(s) in order to practice grade-level language skills such as spelling, verb forms, inferring, identifying sentences, and more.

• Written Response Students respond to questions by writing or typing their answers within a text box.

Ask students to type their response into the text box, then click the Continue button.

To view an example of a correct response, click on the blue arrow.

There are two methods for entering in answers that require a text entry response. Students can either type their answers into a text box, or write out there answers in a drawing box.

The text tool activates the text entry box. This option enables the ability to check the answer.

The pencil tool activates the drawing area. This option, on Show Answer, displays the answer below to compare the student’s entry with the actual answer.

• Selecting TextStudents answer various language questions by highlighting words in a selection.

• DrawingStudents are asked to draw a picture in order to show their understanding of a sentence or short passage.

Ask students to highlight the correct words, then click the Check Answer button..

Ask students to place their curser inside the drawing space provided. Once their curser is inside the drawing box, it will turn into a pencil allowing them to draw freely.

If you need to start over, click the Clear button to erase the drawing.
