INTRODUCTION



OVERVIEWThepurposeofthisguideistohelptechniciansandengineersintegrateYaskawaVariableFrequencyDrives(VFD)intoaneworexistingEtherNet/IPnetwork,specificallyRockwellAutomation(RA)ProgrammableLogicControllers(PLC).EtherNet/IP(EIP)isbeingusedinawiderangeofindustriesandisoneofthefastestgrowingindustrialprotocolsintheUnitedStates.EtherNet/IPisanopensourceimplementation,thusallowingforthecontinuousdevelopmentandsupportfromindustryleaders(suchasYaskawa),ensuringthatthisindustrialapplicationlayerprotocolsupportsustainability.

InstructionsandexampleswillbebasedonYaskawaTagGenerator,Yaskawaadd-oninstructions,RSLINX,andaCompact/ControlLogix™PLCplatform,configuredwiththeRSLogix5000orStudio5000(RS5K)softwareenvironment.Thisguidewillnavigate,configureandexplorethefunctionalityofYaskawaTagGenerator.

TheYaskawaTagGeneratorwasdevelopedtoallowtechniciansandengineerstoselectmultipleYaskawaEtherNet/IPproducts,theirfunctions(pre-definedI/Oassemblies),andthenoutputthecompileddatatoaCommaSeparatedValue(CSV)file.OnceimportedintotheRS5Kenvironment,thesetagsarethenaliasedtogenerictagscreatedwhenaddingtheYaskawamodule[s],thussimplifyingintegrationandreducingcommissioningtime.

3. Networkconnectionviamultipleswitchesand/orwireless access points

VFD DEFAULT CONFIGURATION AND PREPARATIONS

OpenDeviceNetVendorAssociation(ODVA),thegoverningbodyofEtherNet/IP,whichspecifiesthatallEIPsupportingdevices,includingYaskawaVFD,bydefaultmustbesettouseDynamicHostControllerProtocol(DHCP)togetthenetworksettings.

ThiscorrespondingrequirementisreflectedinparameterF7-13(AddressModeatStartup:2bydefault).IfaDHCPserverdoesnotexistwithinthenetworktopology,proceedtochangethenetworksettingsmanuallytoastaticsetting.

UsingthekeypadorDriveWizardIndustrialsoftware,theoptioncard’snetworksettings(IPAddress,SubnetMaskandDefaultGateway)canbeconfiguredundertheF7parameters.AdditionalUserSettingTableinformationcanbefoundwithintheYaskawaACDriveTechnicalManual–SIEPC71060618:E.3-page491.

ThenetworkLED(NS)shouldnowtransitiontoasolidgreenstate.

ENABLE COMM CONTROLS CONFIGURATION

PC CONFIGURATION

1. Open Network and Sharing CenterfromthetaskbarorunderControlPanel.

2. IfnoconnectionispresentonyourPCnetworkport(RJ45),selectchange adapter settingsontheleftsidebar.

3. Double click Local Area Connection,thenproperties,and double click on (TCP/IPv4)

4. ConfigurethePC’sstaticnetworksettingsbyselecting“Use the following IP Address:”

5. Inputanunused IP AddressthatisonthesamesubnetaspreviouslymentionedintheVFDconfiguredoption.

6. InputthesameSubnet mask and Default Gateway as previouslyusedintheVFDconfiguration.

7. Select OK and OKagainontheLocalAreaConnectionPropertieswindowandthesettingsareready.

Beginningwithv20 of RS5K,thismaybeaccomplishedwithotheradditionaloptionswithintheenvironmentundertheTools Menu.

Let’sstartoffbyregisteringtheEATONEDSfilesintoRSLINXwiththeEDSWizard.

STEP 1: SelecttheEDS Hardware Installation Tool

STEP 2: Select add

STEP 1: InstallYaskawaTagGenerator.Onceinstalled,startthe programbydouble clicking the icon

STEP 3: TickLogix Designer/RSLogix 5000

STEP 4: Enter a project name and click New Project to create theproject.

STEP 7: Click next

STEP 9: DeletetheScopefieldtomakethetags accessibleglobally;otherwise,theywillonly beavailableinMainProgram

STEP 10: Enteranodename,V1000inthiscase

*(MUST BE AN IDENTICAL NAME USED IN RS5K).

STEP 11: Click finish



STEP 12: Click Change Output Fileandbrowsetoafile locationtosavetheCSVoutputfile

STEP 13: Name CSVfile

STEP 14: Click save



STEP 15: Click Build Tag Listtogenerate

STEP 16: Click OKinthenotificationpop-up


STEP 17: Provide a namefortheprojectinthepop- up window

STEP 18: Click Save

STEP 19: Theprojectmaynowbeaccessedatalater timeformodificaton.

STEP 20: Click Quitandthetaskiscompleted.

NavigatebacktotheRS5Kenvironment-

STEP 1: GototheTools Menu > Import > Tags and Logic Comments

STEP 2: BrowsetothepreviouslysavedCSVfolderlocation,select, and import




Oncetheimporttaskiscompleted,youwillnoticethatthelowerErrorplaneprovidesfeedbackonhowmanytagswerecreated,inadditiontoanyerrorsandwarnings.

*If there are error[s], ensure that the names specified in the RS5K project and Yaskawa Tag Generator were identical, or re-run Tag Generator with the correct nomenclature.

AlsonoticethatthedescriptioncolumnisnowautomaticallypopulatedfromtheTagGeneratorgeneratedCSV.WhenEditTagsisselected,RS5Kwillalsoshowexactlywherethenewtagsarealiastointhegenerictags.ThefunctionalitiesoftheTagGeneratortoolgreatlycontributetothereductionofsetuporcommissioningtime,ultimatelyreducingdowntimeandincreasingproductivity.The import task is now completed.


YaskawahastakenadditionalstepstosimplifyingintegrationofitsEtherNet/IPsupportedproductsbyofferingawiderangeofVFDAdd-OnInstruction(AOI)inconjunctionwithTagGenerator.Let’sproceedandexplorehowtechniciansandengineerscanuseYaskawa’sAOIs.

STEP 3: NavigatetoFile > Import Component > Add-On Instruction

STEP 4: BrowsetotheAOI provided by Yaskawa

TheextensionofthefilewillbeaL5X.

STEP 5: YAI Assembly 71 21 is selected




TheImportConfigurationwindowappears.

STEP 6: Verify and select OK

STEP 7: IntheController Organizer > Add- On Instruction,theAOIhasbeensuccessfully imported and is now available for use in the Language Element Tool Bar > Add-On
