OVERVIEWThepurposeofthisguideistohelptechniciansandengineersintegrateYaskawaVariableFrequencyDrives(VFD)intoaneworexistingEtherNet/IPnetwork,specificallyRockwellAutomation(RA)ProgrammableLogicControllers(PLC).EtherNet/IP(EIP)isbeingusedinawiderangeofindustriesandisoneofthefastestgrowingindustrialprotocolsintheUnitedStates.EtherNet/IPisanopensourceimplementation,thusallowingforthecontinuousdevelopmentandsupportfromindustryleaders(suchasYaskawa),ensuringthatthisindustrialapplicationlayerprotocolsupportsustainability.

InstructionsandexampleswillbebasedonYaskawaTagGenerator,Yaskawaadd-oninstructions,RSLINX,andaCompact/ControlLogix™PLCplatform,configuredwiththeRSLogix5000orStudio5000(RS5K)softwareenvironment.Thisguidewillnavigate,configureandexplorethefunctionalityofYaskawaTagGenerator.

TheYaskawaTagGeneratorwasdevelopedtoallowtechniciansandengineerstoselectmultipleYaskawaEtherNet/IPproducts,theirfunctions(pre-definedI/Oassemblies),andthenoutputthecompileddatatoaCommaSeparatedValue(CSV)file.OnceimportedintotheRS5Kenvironment,thesetagsarethenaliasedtogenerictagscreatedwhenaddingtheYaskawamodule[s],thussimplifyingintegrationandreducingcommissioningtime.

VFD DEFAULT CONFIGURATION AND PREPARATIONS

OpenDeviceNetVendorAssociation(ODVA),thegoverningbodyofEtherNet/IP,whichspecifiesthatallEIPsupportingdevices,includingYaskawaVFD,bydefaultmustbesettouseDynamicHostControllerProtocol(DHCP)togetthenetworksettings.

ThiscorrespondingrequirementisreflectedinparameterF7-13(AddressModeatStartup:2bydefault).IfaDHCPserverdoesnotexistwithinthenetworktopology,proceedtochangethenetworksettingsmanuallytoastaticsetting.

UsingthekeypadorDriveWizardIndustrialsoftware,theoptioncard’snetworksettings(IPAddress,SubnetMaskandDefaultGateway)canbeconfiguredundertheF7parameters.AdditionalUserSettingTableinformationcanbefoundwithintheYaskawaACDriveTechnicalManual–SIEPC71060618:E.3-page491.
