ENGINEERING SURVEY
Any construction implies integrated engineering survey.
Engineering survey data is one of the essential factors influencing which design solution of the future engineering construction will be chosen.
Engineering surveys are part of mandatory design package required to obtain construction permit. As well as design solutions chosen, engineering survey quality determines construction stability.
23
High-quality geodetic survey constitutes the basis for preparing design complying with regulatory requirements and estimated life.
The objective of topographical survey is obtaining topographical and geodesic materials and data on the setting and terrain, existing buildings and structures (surface, aboveground and underground), as well as partitioning elements (in digi-tal, pictorial, photographic or any other form) required for integrated assessment of natural and anthropogenic conditions at the construction site and providing basis for design, construction and use of the fa-cilities.
GEODETIC SURVEY PRIOR TO CON-STRUCTION INCLUDES:• Establishing geodetic frames;• 1:200 - 1:10,000 plane surveying and
updating;• Tracing;• Line infrastructure surveying, con-
structing longitudinal and transverse profiles;
• Staking and fixing of mine openings and other points; stationary monitoring
of strain and subsidence of buildings, structures, land surface and rock mass; providing data for GIS and national ca-dastres.
GEODETIC SURVEY DURING CON-STRUCTION AND BULDING, STRUCTURE OR ENTERPRISE USE INCLUDES:• Identifying designed ground position of
the facility;• Establishing geodetic frame (base);• Geodetic control of accuracy; precipita-
tion and strain monitoring; special sur-vey;
• Works during equipment installation, verification and check-up; identify-ing concealed underground construc-tions; drawing as-built geodetic docu-ments.
Geodetic survey enables more effec-tive use of investment funds and smarter design development for construction and reconstruction of facilities.
GEODETIC SURVEY

TOPOGRAPHY AND CARTOGRAPHY SERVICES
Importance of topographic maps can hardly be overestimated. Topographic map is a detailed map describing horizontal position and elevation, distance, direction and area which can be difficult and labor-consuming to measure. Such measure-ments may be required for planning and locating productive forces, designing utility structures, in the process of exploring and exploiting natural resources, construction and structure using, land management, for maintaining cadastres and other activities.
THE COMPANY OFFERS:• Preparation, update, redaction, duplica-
tion of plans in pictorial, digital, photo-graphic and other forms, including top-ographical plans at a scale larger than 1:10,000;
• Manufacturing of aerial imagery mate-rials;
• Establishing and maintaining special-purpose geographical information sys-tems (GIS);
• Preparation, update, redaction, duplica-tion of thematic map, plans and atlases in pictorial, digital, photographic and other forms;
• Preparation, update, redaction, dupli-cation of calenders, guide-books and other map-based advertising and in-formational editions in pictorial, digital, photographic and other forms;
• General topographical maps at the scales of 1: 200 - 1:10,000 and (or) up-date (correction) of those for engineer-ing survey, construction and operation of buildings and structures, demarca-tion, cadastre maintenance and other survey and special works;
• Survey of under- and aboveground structures (utilities) at the scale of 1: 200 - 1:5,000 for engineering survey, construction and operation of buildings and structures, demarcation, cadastre maintenance and other survey and spe-cial works.

Nowadays, LiDAR scanning is of the most efficient and progressive technique of data collection.

LiDAR scanning technologies are pro-gressive because they promptly provide the fullest high-precision geospatial data on the terrain, vegetation, hydrography, loca-tion and properties of anthropogenic facili-ties within the scanning area.
LiDAR scanning produces a high-den-sity cloud of reflexion points reflecting from any objects within the survey corridor, in-cluding ground under dense vegetation, which, when combined with high resolu-tion cameras, produces the most precise terrain and area models and topographic plans.
Economic aspect is of importance as well. In case of large and long facilities, la-ser scanning ensures significant decrease in costs and time of field works. Applying
modern mobile laser scanners, we can obtain the most detailed data on facilities and models of space along extensive linear objects within the shortest time period. In case of hard-to-reach and poorly explored districts of Western and Eastern Siberia and high north, and where conventional survey is not effective (tundra, snow and send deserts, etc.), significance of the Li-DAR scanning can hardly be overestimated.
In this sense, combination of aerial, mobile and terrestrial LiDar scanning scan-ning serves to enhance economic efficiency producing high-precision geodetic data at the same time. Inventory and equipment of GeoProjectSurvey currently includes the most efficient cutting edge high-precision mobile and airborne scanning systems RIEGL.
c)
26
RIEGL LMS-Q780 laser scanning system (ALS) for airborne laser scanning.
RIEGL VMX-450 laser scanning system (MLS) - LKZ for mobile laser scanning.
The technology can be applied in vari-ous spheres: in power engineering for de-signing and diagnosing transmission lines, for inventory of land and property, urban development planning, road and railway reconstruction, pipeline design, in forest, land and agriculture, in land cadastre, in emergency monitoring.
LiDar scanning has a number of advan-tages: results of high-frequency measure-ment form a high-density massive array of lacer reflection points and includes spatial coordinates of the objects within the scan-
ner visual field. Basing on the measure-ments made, 3D-model of any facility or sectional drawings are generated, struc-ture defects and strain values are identified by comparing the facility with its design model.
With mobile and airborne laser scan-ning, survey from linear and areal objects from surface and air carriers which consid-erably increases speed and decreases level of effort. Using the obtained data, high-precision models of terrain,, vegetation and detailed topographical plans are generated.
USE OF LIDER SCANNING BY INDUSTRY:• Railroads and infrastructure facilities.
Identifying as-built geometrical param-eters of railway infrastructure. Monitor-ing railway line condition. Renovation and design of railroad facilities;
• Highways and transport infrastructure. Drawing road data sheet. Estimat-ing visibility range, wheel tracking and evenness. Drawing lists of road facili-ties. Cadastral registration;
• Power industry. Detection and analy-sis of HVDC oversize. Defining pole centers and deviations from the verti-cal axis. Detecting defects of pole ele-ments. Geological survey is a necessary stage of work ensuring reliability, stability and good operation of any construction. Design and construction performed without detailed surveying and estimating geological conditions may result in a number of adverse processes.
Geological engineering survey is per-formed to explore geological structure of the site, soil physical and mechanical characteristics, carrying capacity, corrosiv-ity, hydrogeological conditions and progno-sis on respective changes in the process of construction and using the building or structure, to ensure protection of structures against influence of adverse geological en-vironment, geological and engineering pro-cesses and phenomena.
Based on the geological survey data, the best design parameters of a facility are iden-tified taking into account all negative factors influencing its construction and use.
OBJECTIVES OF GEOLOGICAL SURVEY• Construction feasibility study;• Comparing variants and choosing the
best location for facility;• Justifying arrangement of buildings and
structures;• Patterning geological conditions to cre-
ate a predictive model of earth founda-tion;
• Designer supervision of construction works.
GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
Based on the geological survey data, the best de-sign parameters of a fa-
