With the EMS IV, we are able to provide an enhanced end-user experience, not previously seen in our industry.

Features of the EMS IV include:

Rig VisionTM Real-Time Web Monitoring, featuring automatedFriction Factor LIVETM

OI’s Rig Vision real-time web monitoring system is designed to be faster, more intuitive, and simpler to use. It has a flexible user interface that can grow with the user’s needs. Features, such as strip charts, text screens, and reporting, allow more productive, easier access to the well real-time data as well as fast reporting. Its newest feature, Friction Factor LIVE allows users to monitor real-time torque and drag on wellbores.

User InterfaceThe well real time data can be displayed on text screens, strip chart screens, and drill screens. The user can create and save as many screens as they need. All objects are property based. This means at any time the user can easily modify their screens by clicking on an object and selecting which parameter to view, what color scheme to use, set scales on a graph and set alarm points all in one popup property box. All of this is done with no interruptions to the data flow. The screen properties can be set or changed by using the Screen Property Wizard.

Text Screens Users will be able to select the number of rows and columns for a text screen. They will be able to select the parameter and colors for each text box from the screen. Any changes made to the screens can be saved.

Strip Chart Screens The strip chart can display depth, time, or time and depth data. Users are able to select the number of tracks for their strip chart and the number of parameters on each track. They also can select the parameters to display and the color for each parameter. An-notation added on location will also display on the website strip charts. All strip charts scales both vertical and horizontal and alarm points are easily adjustable. The strip charts can be scrolled forward and backwards through all the well data. The strip chart view supports multiple tracks each containing multiple param-eters. It also supports keyboard and mouse interaction for panning and zooming.

Drill Screens Drill screens will allow the user to watch both text and graphical data on the same real time screen. They will be able set up and modify these screens as easily as the text and strip chart screens.

War Room Screen View multi-wells at the same time in an easy-to-view spreadsheet style format. Parameters, colors & alarms can easily be set by using its property box.

Well ComparisonUsers can see multiple well information side-by-side on one screen.

Reports The users will be able to

create graphical and numerical reports. They will be able to create and save report templates that can be used to generate reports as needed. Numerical reports display columns of time or depth data. They can be saved as Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or CSV files. LAS depth files can also be created. Scaled graphical reports care easily created and displayed on the screen, saved to Adobe PDF files, or printed.

Map This mapping tool can be used to locate a user’s wells, based on the latitude and longitude of the rig. The user is able to select a well to zoom into its location, or pan and zoom in/out of the map at will. Satellite and ground view is also available with this feature.

The new Rig VisionTM real-time web monitoring system provides:- Tabbed interface with a tree view makes navigation and access to information more obvious and easy to use.- Real-time screens open in a new tab in the browser, but can also be popped out into a separate browser window, providing more flexibility.- Real-time screens can be updated from the screen.- Parameter alarms can be set for each well for each user.- A map interface that will show you well locations on a map display.- The back end of the system can be load balanced, providing the ability to support more systems and end users with less disruption.- and carries any data provided via 3rd party WITS feed.

Friction Factor LIVETM Torque and Drag ModelingIn response to feedback from our clients, OI software engineers created the automated Friction Factor LIVE, a unique capability that allows users to monitor real-time torque and drag on wellbores while drilling, tripping in/out of the hole or while running produc-tion casing string.

On location, users will import their torque and drag models into the EMS IV system. This will establish broom curves against which they can plot their real-time data.

Friction Factor LIVE uses hook-load sensor and other parameters to calculate slack-off and pick-up weights, off-bottom rotating weights, off-bottom torque, and calculates static torque. Friction Factor uses algorithms to calculate actual weights and combines that with operator-supplied friction factor curves. This allows engineers to predetermine tight spots in the wellbore and predict potential problems, saving time and money.

Friction Factor is especially beneficial for horizontal drilling, when gravity causes cuttings to build up on the lower side of the well bore.

Rig Vision MobileThis mobile website allows users to view their rig data via their mobile devices. Strip charts, text screens and map are available 24/7 using an iPhone, Android or Blackberry Touch mobile device. Google Chrome and Safari can also be used to view this site from your PC.

Gas Detection

The driller has a daylight viewable numeric LCD display with alarm set points. The office user has the luxury of having a PC-based acquisition program allowing the user to view a real-time numeric and graphical display. The user also has the option of viewing and/or printing historical data. Each user has the ability to set individual alarm points. Components:This system consists of: laptop or PC-based remote with PDF Document Writer. Simrad infrared gas sensor (with 5 year Factory Warranty against everything but lightning). Hydrocarbon filters – to help keep the lens clean on the inertia of the flow cell chamber.

Our system is the only kind of infrared gas sensor that contains a self purging blowback sample mode (Regulated blow-back system). No other portable IR gas detector contains this function.

Drill Gas 1000Oilfield Instrumentation’s total gas detection system, Drill Gas 1000 is designed with the accuracy and reliability of our infrared gas sensor along with a user-friendly office interface.

Our gas trap style is based off of the Exxon patent release version from the mid 1980s. It creates high vertex affect which allows for a greater expulsion rate of gas from the drilling fluid. The airflow regulator on the front panel indicates the rate of gas flow though the IR flow cell (which is calibrated at 2.5 SCFH (standard cubic feet per hour)). OI’s Drill-Gas 1000 system can also be used as a small basic system. It has eight analog input channels and five digital input channels. The parameters it can monitor include total gas, hookload, up to four pits, flow line sensor, and one trip tank probe. On the digital side: four pump stroke counters and one encoder. The Drill-Gas 1000 system can calculate parameters such as ROP/1, ROP/5, Block Position, Hole Depth, Bit Depth, In/Out of Slips, WOB, Active PVT, Total PVT, Individual Pump Strokes, Total Pump Strokes, Barrels per Minute, Gallons per Minute and also Total Gallons per Minute.
