Care and MaintenanceWARNING: Do not attempt to clean your hardware with any type ofabrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemicals. These types of cleaning agentsmay mar the finish. A damp cloth is all that is necessary to wipe clean. Note: Finish Number 102, Oil-Rubbed Bronze, can be cleaned with lightmachine oil and wiped with a dry cloth.

Full Dummy Installation3

3 If Full Dummy Trim will beinstalled next to an activedoor, height from bottom ofdoor and backset must matchthe active door. Backset is thedistance from the edge of doorto center of hole (A), the 21⁄8"dia. hole. Otherwise, locatecenter hole (A) 38" from floor.Tape template to door.

4 Locate and mark positionsfor (A, B, and C) on template.

5 Very carefully drill (A) 21⁄8"hole into one side of door faceuntil drill bit starts to protrudeon opposite side.Important: Drillperpendicularly (at a 90ºangle) to door.

6Complete drilling hole (A)from opposite side of door.Drill (B) 1⁄2" hole into doorexactly at pencil mark.

7 Very carefully drill (C) 5⁄16"hole into door exactly atpencil mark.

1Measure the diameter oftop hole (B) in door. If hole is21⁄8", orient the locating plateas shown in fig. 1. If hole isless than 21⁄8", orient locatingplate as shown in fig. 2.

2 Insert dummy cylinderthrough dummy cylindercollar and into outside of door.From inside, insert retainingscrew through lock washerand locating plate, then screwinto dummy cylinder.

4 Attach outside handleset byinserting the #10-32 x 23⁄4" ovalhead screw on inside of doorthrough rectangular screw baseand the lower hole (C). Leavescrew loose for adjustment. Note: Go to door preparationif you do not have a lowerhole (C).

3Place the dummy interiortop plate over locating plateand fasten in place using the#8-32 x 5⁄8" machine screwthough hole in center of trim.

7 Slide knob/lever onto dummyinside adapter with set screwhole down and toward hingesuntil it is flush with rosette.Insert set screw and tighten withAllen wrench.

1Pull door toward you tocheck if it’s level. Observecontact of door to jam andmake sure it’s level. Adjust ifnecessary.

Full Dummy Trim Set. Verify that you have all parts pictured onexploded view section of instructions.

• Check the thickness of the door. This Full Dummy Trim Set works ondoors 13⁄4" thick only. For doors greater than 13⁄4" up to 21⁄4" thick,contact our Consumer Help Line at 1-800-566-1986. The conversionkit part number for this item is 5399.XXX.D; please specify the finish of your product.

• Follow the step-by-step sequence to ensure properoperation of your Baldwin lockset.

• If your door is pre-drilled, see Full Dummy installation step 1. If it is not pre-drilled, see door preparation step 1.

• We recommend spreading cardboard over floor to prevent scratching partsand marring floor.

• Always wear protective eyewear.

Note: The illustrations in these instructions depict the outside handlebeing installed on the right of the door. For installation of the outsidehandle on the left of the door, proceed as if all illustrations were reversed.

5Place the dummy insideadapter on the door, aligning theholes in adapter with post onoutside handleset. Secure withtwo #10-32 X 11⁄4" truss headscrews.

6Place rosette over dummyinside adapter. Using roseretainer wrench, thread the roseretainer onto the threadedportion of the adapter.

1 If weather stripping isnot installed, you mustinstall weather strippingprior to strikeplateinstallation.Mark center ofdeadbolt with chalk, greasepencil, or lipstick. Shut doorand lock deadbolt to markcenter point on inactive door.

3On inactive door, alignstrike hole template with centerpoint. Mark holes for center oflatch bolt and outer corners ofboth strikes with pencil.

4For Deadbolt andLatch Strikeplates: Markdrill points 5⁄16" above andbelow center points. Bore two1" holes 11⁄4" deep for deadboltdustbox and two 1" holes 1"deep for latch dustbox. Scorechisel guide into door framewith utility knife.

5For Deadbolt and LatchStrikeplates: Chisel out holesfor dustboxes. Chisel out cavityso deadbolt strikeplate and latchstrikeplate fit flush withdoorframe. For deadboltstrikeplate, cavity is 7⁄32" deep. For latch strikeplate, cavity is3⁄32" deep.

6For DeadboltStrikeplate: Using reinforcingstrikeplate as a template, drillfour 1⁄8" pilot holes for #8 x 3⁄4"combination screws.

9For Latch Strikeplate:Using latch strikeplate as atemplate, drill two 1⁄8" pilot holesfor the #8 x 3⁄4" screws.

7For Deadbolt Strikeplate:Insert dustbox into hole, addreinforcing strike, and secure withfour #8 x 3⁄4" combination screws.Two screws are supplied with activetrim and two are supplied withdummy trim.Important: Do not install 3” screws in double doorapplications.Helpful Hint: When installingwood screws it is recommended toput beeswax or soap on screwthreads to improve installation.

8For DeadboltStrikeplate: Add strikeplateand secure with #8-32 x 1⁄4"screws.

10For Latch Strikeplate:Insert dustbox into hole, addstrikeplate, and secure byinserting #8 x 3⁄4" wood screwsinto pilot holes.

ProblemScrews are all tight but the hardware is not firmly attached to the door.

Knob or lever keeps coming off the spindle.

SolutionCheck door thickness. Door must be 13⁄4" thick. Hardware will notinstall on doors less than 13⁄4" thick.

Ensure that set screw on knob or lever is fully tightened on the spindlewith Allen wrench provided. Refer to full dummy installation step 7.
