TRANSCRIPT
We’re already at the end of week 4 and things are well and truly under-
way. Welcome to Kenny who started last week in the Rimu Hub. We hope
you enjoy your time at Tapanui School. We also welcome a couple of new
staff. Mrs Sarah Dalzell is working in our Matai Hub as a Teacher Aide
and Mrs Navjeet Kaur has taken on the role as our new Cleaner in the Rimu
Hub. Great to have you both on the staff.
We were saddened to hear about the relapse of Jock Davies who is now
back in Christchurch Hospital. Our thoughts are with Pete, Sarah and the
boys as they navigate this difficult time with Jock’s illness. Get well soon
Jock!
Thanks for coming along to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions earlier in the
week. It’s a pity that the weather forced the cancellation of the picnic,
however we will see about another community type event later in the year.
It was also disappointing for the students in the Rimu Hub in relation to
the cancellation of the Cultural Festival. The good news is they will per-
form their items at the Whole School Assembly next week. Furthermore
there are plans to make a DVD with items from all the schools as a record
of what might have been. We will make this available once it has been
done.
Next week the West Otago Athletics event is scheduled to be held on Tuesday over on the BMC field. As
in previous years this event draws all the students from Waikoikoi, Heriot and Tapanui for a day of running,
jumping and throwing. Winners of various events have an opportunity to represent West Otago at the East-
ern Athletics on Tuesday 13 March in Gore. In the event of a postponement please check the school web-
site, watch your phone for an alert on our Skool Loop App or listen to Hokonui Gold around 7.30am. Hope-
fully the weather returns to being warm and dry. Parents are very welcome and we certainly hope you are
able to join us across the day. Coffee, water and a sausage sizzle will be on offer.
Three Way Interviews also start next week. A notice was sent home earlier, however there is also infor-
mation in this newsletter about how to make your booking. If you want the school to make the booking for
you, just give us a call or pop in and see Sonia in the office. Interviews are 3.30pm-8.30pm on Thursday 1
March and 9.00am-5.30pm on Monday 5 March. Because Interviews run throughout the day on Monday, the
teachers will be involved with individuals across the day and therefore classes will not run. School is open,
however we hope that you are able to make alternative arrangements for your child to allow Interviews to
run smoothly.
Have a restful weekend. The Winter Olympics is nearly over with a couple of medals in the bank. Time now
to enjoy the ODI Series – NZ Blackcaps vs England.
