AN INTRODUCTION TO RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

Of all the techniques that I have suggested that people use over the years for self-therapy, deeprelaxation with positive imagery is the one, which I have suggested most often. It is whatabsolutely everyone needs independent of whether they have physical of emotional problems ornot. We all have much to benefit by stopping at least once a day and lying down on our backs (oron our abdomen or sitting straight in a chair) and relaxing consciously all the parts of our bodyand then our minds. This simple technique allows the basic healing energies of the body to work atrestoring the proper harmony which is required for healthy and effective functioning of the bodyand mind.

The blood vessels relax and there is increased blood flow to parts of the body where tension wasrestricting flow. The lactic acid build up which causes tiredness, is allowed to be transformed andremoved. All the systems of the body begin a process of harmonizing themselves through variousmechanisms. The nervous system is relaxed and rejuvenated and prepared for more efficientfunctioning. The mind is cleared, emptied and enabled to think much more clearly, intelligentlyand positively. In deep relaxation, as you will learn in detail below, we are able to direct our body’shealing energies mentally to the areas which we would like to affect more specifically. Thus if weare having a problem with our liver, we can send healing energy there by imagining light, or peace,or positive healthful feelings and thoughts flowing into the liver. This can be done with any part ofthe body. The same technique of positive thinking can be used with all aspects of our lives.

We can imagine ourselves with greater self acceptance, self confidence, self love, with greaterpeace of mind, greater ease and confidence in our social and professional contacts. We canimaging ourselves in harmonious and loving relationships. We can imagine ourselves healthy, fullof energy and happiness. This is not self deception. It is the directing of the mind’s energiestowards the eventual creation of exactly these positive realities.

Our thoughts, feelings and beliefs are the creators of our lives, of our illness and our health, of ourfailures and successes, of our happiness and unhappiness. Changing our thoughts eventually leadsto changes in our lives, including in our health.

Below you will find a variety of various relaxation techniques which you can employ in order torestore or maintain your health and harmony. You can then decide which of the techniques seemto appeal most to you.

If you should like to create a deep relaxation technique for your self you shouldinclude:

1. The method of relaxing which helps you to relax most easily.

2. Projection of healing energy to parts of the body which you would like to heal.

3. Projection of positive thoughts and images concerning your personality and your contact withthe world around you. Imagine yourself as you would like to be.

4. Be sure to always create feelings of self acceptance, self love and self confidence. These are veryimportant in self healing.

5. Leave time for your mind to just be empty and let whatever changes need to take place in yourbody or mind to happen without your mental intervention. This time of emptiness is essential bothin self healing and also in our spiritual growth process.

In employing your relaxation pay attention to the following:

1. You should be appropriately covered in case your body metabolism falls and you feel cold.

2. It is best to be alone in the room unless the other is sleeping, or aware of what you are doingand capable of being extremely quiet. But if these conditions are not available, then I would say togo ahead and try to do deep relaxation anyway. You would be amazed by how much you can gowithin yourself and become unaware of what is going on around you.

3. Leave time to really «wake up»; and gradually move into activity. Do not come out of therelaxation just moments before you have to do something or be somewhere. Five minutestransition time is probably enough for most people.

4. If you suffer from low blood pressure and find that you are dizzy or very cold after deeprelaxation, then try doing your relaxation with your legs on a pillow or on the wall. In thesepositions you will ensure an abundant flow of blood to the brain and you will not feel dizzy or weakafterwards.

5. Do not over do relaxation. Twenty to thirty minutes twice or three times a day are enough inthe beginning. Do not do more than this without the guidance of someone experienced in thesetechniques. Yoga teachers can help you and a growing number of psychologists are learning andusing such techniques with their patients.

6. The techniques are best done on an empty stomach but can be done after meals if there isabsolutely no other time. The best time to do them is after one of your exercise and breathingsessions. Another suitable time is in the afternoon or early evening, especially after work in orderto rejuvenate your body for the evening activities. If none of these times are suitable, then at leastdo it before falling asleep in the evening. Some people who have trouble sleeping use it in themiddle of the night in order to sleep, and others who wake up early use these techniques to starttheir days with a fresh and positive outlook. Experiment and find out what is best for you.

7. The purpose is not to fall asleep. But if you are tired and fall asleep do not worry. Youhave relaxed. If you have relaxed with a cassette, the messages which were on the cassette havebeen recorded by your subconscious mind. If you were working on your own without a cassette,then at least you have relaxed and rejuvenated your body and mind.

8. Cassettes are available from various spiritual centers, book stores and health food shops.In the beginning I would suggest that you buy or borrow a cassette so that you can get an ideaconcerning the rate and rhythm of how a relaxation is done. It will be easier to relax with acassette in the beginning until you develop your ability with practice. Eventually you can let go ofyour dependency on the cassette (after trying out a variety of them if you like) and work on yourown, creating the type of relaxation which is most suitable to you.

There are cassettes for self therapy, for self acceptance, self confidence, for expansion of love forall beings, for sending light to various parts of the body and for simply relaxing. There are alsorelaxations for children which help them to imagine themselves confident, concentrated andsuccessful at school and with friends and family. You may also like to create your own cassettewith the specific messages which you feel are most appropriate to your needs.

9. It is important to be regular in your practice of this simple technique which really does notrequire much time. If you cannot do it more frequently, do it at least once a day. Do not let yourmind fool you into believing that there is no time. There is; you just need to see it. You can let go ofsomething else, which is offering you less in your life and replace it with relaxation.

Also do not be fooled by the idea that you do not have the right to take this time for your self.These techniques will increase greatly both the quality and quantity of your service both to yourfamily and profession. Also do not be fooled by the feeling that you are too nervous to relax, thatyou prefer to watch TV or do something which occupies your attention; that you do not have theconcentration to relax. It is all a matter of habit. Your mind has learned to function in a certainway. You can gradually teach it to function in a different more effective and beneficial way.

It may be difficult at first. You may feel even more tension as you try and do not succeed inrelaxing. This is because it is something new. Just as you could not walk when you were born andhad to practice it, and became now able to walk through thinking, in the same way you will masterthis technique and it will become easy and enjoyable.

10. Do not be put off or afraid if in the beginning you have various negative side effects afterdoing a relaxation. This is simply the excess suppressed tension (which you have bottled up withinyou), coming out in the form of negative symptoms. The symptoms may be headaches, dizziness, afeeling of irritability or the need to cry or laugh nervously. You may feel pains in various parts ofthe body which were not there before (they are in the emotional and energy level but you do notfeel them). You may have negative visions or hear unpleasant sounds while in the relaxation.

Or you may feel nothing at all. In 80% of the cases, people feel very wonderful. They experience alevel of inner peace and harmony which they have never experienced before. If you are among the20% who might have negative reactions at first, do not fear; this will happen only for a few timesin the beginning and then will pass. If you feel that you need help to overcome the built up tensionwhich is coming out, then seek out the help of a person experienced in these techniques. Sooner orlater the tension which you have suppressed for so many years will be released and you will feelwonderful, not only in your relaxation but throughout the day. You will be lighter and freer, withmore positive outlook in life.

11. The process of reprogramming the subconscious mind with positive thoughts and imagescan also be done while you are sleeping. You can purchase or make a cassette with themessages you would like to accept deep within you. Set up a timer switch to your tape player sothat it will start up by itself about an hour after you have fallen asleep or an hour before youusually wake up. At these times you are usually in the receptive «alpha» state. These messages willby pass the filters of your conscious mind which usually block out whatever they do not believeand will be recorded directly into your subconscious mind. Many learn languages in this way. Thisdoes not, however, replace your need for conscious-willful deep relaxation.

I encourage you to start today employing these relaxation techniques and to treat your body andmind to a delight they have been waiting for and needing for a long time.

POSITIVE VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUE FOR SELFTHERAPY AND PREVENTION OF ILLNESS

Being ill is no fun. Often when ill we do not know what to do with ourselves and are overcome withnegative feelings. These negative feelings of helplessness and hopelessness often worsen ourphysical condition and there ensues a vicious circle of physical pain, suffering and mental andemotional tension. Our negative reaction to illness worsen the illness. Tension brings pain andpain brings more tension. The best solution is any simple relaxation technique with positivevisualization for removing stress and pain and sending healing energy to the problem area.

Each of us has within us vital energies which can heal our bodies. This is the life energy whichkeeps us alive and allows us to perform all the functions of our lives. This energy is guided by ourthought patterns and concentration. Wherever our thoughts go, our energy goes to that area. Thuswe can play a very important and essential role in our own therapy by learning to relax our bodiesand mind by directing our concentration inwardly to the various parts of our body or our life ingeneral which need healing. This is not difficult at all and can be learned just as any other humanact can be learned through practice.

THE DOCTORS COULD NOT BELIEVE THEIR EYES

I remember the case of a friend of ours who was flying in a hand glider-kite and fell 20 meters tothe ground cracking cervical vertebrae, thus remaining paralysed in the General National Hospitalin Athens, Greece. He had only 5% movement in his arms and zero in his legs. A few of us went toexplain to him how to relax his mind and body and how to concentrate his energy into his neckarea and into his arms and legs and to imagine that he could move his hands and legs perfectly. Hestarted doing this four or five times a day. He would ask his visitors to leave the room for tenminutes so that he could do this. He did this in a room with seven other patients and all theirvisitors. He closed his eyes and relaxed, while the television was blaring and cigarette smoke waschoking the atmosphere.

Although the doctors told him that he would never be able to walk or gain full use of his hands, hestarted to get better every day. His hands and legs started to move. After two months, he left thehospital, and after another six months he came to visit me one day in the taxi cab he was driving,to tell me how the doctors at the hospital “made the sign of the cross”, in disbelief, when they sawhim walk in to greet them. His body was much more fit and strong than mine.

There are thousands of such cases all over the world of people who have cured themselves with thepower of relaxation and positive visualization. It is being used in many hospitals in America andEurope. It is being used especially in the cases of Cancer and whenever pain is present. One theoryis that relaxation and peaceful vibrations in the mind stimulate the secretion of «natural bodymade anaesthetics» called endomorphins. It seems that an individual can learn to control the painin his body. In addition he can direct healing energies to those parts of the body which aremalfunctioning. Everyday we are discovering new unknown powers of the mind. It seems that wehuman beings have many powers which we have not realised and are waiting for us to uncoverthem as we continue with our human development.

Find a comfortable straight back position, either lying down on your back or sitting straight on achair. Close your eyes and start breathing more slowly and deeply. Relax your body from your toesto the top of your head concentrating on each part separately and allowing it to relax.

You may also use another method of relaxation similar to the one suggested by the Silva MindControl. Take a deep breath and while exhaling repeat mentally and visualize the number three,three times in your mind. Then inhale again, and while exhaling, visualize and repeat the numbertwo, three times in the mind. Then inhale again and on the exhalation repeat and visualise thenumber one, three times. Then count slowly backwards from ten to one allowing the body andmind to relax more deeply with each number. Feel that with each number you relax more deeplyphysically and mentally.

After using either of these techniques or any other relaxation technique, you can start to follow thefollowing visualization procedure.

1) Imagine a light in the center of the forehead

2) Allow this light to begin to expand and fill the whole of the brain cavity. (If you cannot see thelight you can feel it, or conceive of it as a thought. It has the same result).

3) Allow this light and energy to start descending into the body

4) Direct it to any parts of the body which need healing energies

5) Feel the energy going there and imagine that area to be perfectly healthy. DO NOT IMAGINETHE ILLNESS. DO NOT IMAGINE THE PROBLEM.

6) IMAGINE ONLY THE PERFECT FUNCTIONING OF THE BODY.

7) Imagine your whole body functioning perfectly

8) Imagine yourself happy, healthy, running, dancing, singing, playing

9) Imagine yourself in harmony with those around you, giving and taking love

10) Remain in this blissful relaxed state as long as you can. Allow these peaceful healing energiesto permeate every part of your body and mind.

This practice can be done for:

1) SELF HEALING

2) TO HELP OTHERS WHO ARE ILL - We can imagine all this going on in them

3) AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE AGAINST ILLNESS

When one’s bio-energy gets out of balance, neither the body nor the mind can operate properly. Itis like a television or a radio with a short circuit. The energy is taking wrong paths and not gettingto where it should. The result is nervous tension, pains in various parts of the body, ineffectivefunctioning of the organs of the body, emotional disturbances, and in severe cases, chronicillnesses and nervous breakdowns. In this short article we shall present a few simple easilyapplicable techniques which you can use to balance the flow of bioenergy within your bodyeveryday.

Once one has learned to do deep relaxation he can then begin to practice these internal bioenergybalancing techniques. Find a comfortable place to lie down on your back or a comfortable chair inwhich you can sit with your back straight. Let your consciousness pass through your body relaxingthe various parts of the body in a systematic way. When you have relaxed all your body, from yourtoes to the top of your head, you can practice the following internal procedures.

2) Right - left Balancing is important for most people, as most of us tend to accumulate moreenergy on one side of the body and have less on the other side. One side will be more stiff andmore susceptible to problems than the other. One way of balancing the two sides of the body is todo exercises such as the torsion, the Sideward bend and other exercises which help the energy toflow into one side and then the other side of the body. Another way is through breathingalternatively through one nostril and then the other. Here, however, we will discuss how we candirect the flow of energy with our concentration.

While in the state of deep relaxation, place all your concentration on your right arm. Ignore theleft side of your body, as your awareness expands throughout the right side of your body feelingthe right side of the abdomen, right side of the head, the right leg etc. Remain with yourconsciousness focused on the right side of your body for a few minutes. Then shift all of yourattention to the left side; The left arm, left leg, left side of the torso, left side of the head etc. After afew minutes shift your attention back to the right again, now for less time, then back to the left,and back again to the right and then again left, in this way letting the attention shift back and forthwith increasing rapidity. Finally feel your body as a totality, with no distinction between the leftand right sides.

Then imagine your body as an egg which is whole without sides or parts. Psychics who are able tosee the human bioenergy field, claim that it is, in fact, like an egg. Practicing this technique willdevelop a protective aura of energy around the body and a healthy flow of energy within the body.Thus one will be less susceptible to microbes, to illness and negative vibrations in theenvironment.

3. Top - bottom balance is also very important. Imagine that the human body is a pipe throughwhich energy is flowing from the heavens into the earth and from the earth up towards theheavens. If the pipe is not straight and clean, free of impediments, then the energy will get blockedup in the system and create problems. We want the bio-energy to flow freely and abundantly fromthe top of our heads to the bottom of our feet, and again from our feet to the top of our heads.

Lie down and relax on your back. Start taking deep complete breaths to whatever rhythm youprefer. Imagine your body to be a pipe through which light and energy are flowing. Imagine that

the inhalation takes light and energy into the body, and that the exhalation sends this energy outcarrying with it any negativity or impurity of the body or mind.

a. First imagine that the inhalation draws this light into the area of the solar plexus and that theexhalation sends the energy out through the legs and out the bottom of the feet. Send 5 to 7breaths out in this way through both legs together.

b. In the second stage imagine energy coming into a small hole in the center of the chest on theinhalation and send it up and out through the top of the head on the exhalation. Imagine that itcaries out all negativity and tension of the neck, and shoulders. Do this 5 to 7 times.

c. Thirdly imagine energy and light flowing into the bottom of the feet on the inhalation and takeit up until the solar plexus on the inhalation. Then on the exhalation send the energy up throughthe chest, neck and head and out the top of the head. Do this 5 to 7 times.

d. Imagine that on the inhalation you take energy and light into the top of the head and bring itdown as far as the solar plexus. Then on the exhalation send it out through the bottom of thechest.

e. Finally if you have any particular problem, then send the energy to that part of the body,imagining that light and energy go there and heal, correct and vitalize that area.

When one is ill, this is a wonderful way to speed up the healing process. It is also a very effectivetechnique for prevention of various psychosomatic problems. For those who have no problems, itis a wonderful way to start the day or to rejuvenate the body after a day’s work in preparation ofthe evening activities.

A DEEP RELAXATION FOR SELF- ACCEPTANCE

We have found that most people do not love and accept them selves enough They have beenprogrammed by negative interactions with parents, teachers and society while young, and havegotten the mistaken impression that they are not worthy. This is extremely undermining to theirhealth, happiness, success and their ability to create and sustain harmonious relationships. Mostpeople, regardless as to whether they realize it or not, would benefit from this technique.

After you have relaxed your body with your favorite relaxation technique, start to visualizeyourself in your mind. If you cannot actually see your self, then imagine or feel your self.Imagine your self loving and caring for your self. Create feelings of acceptance and respect for yourself. Recognize how worthy you are, how good you are, how much you really care for others(independent as to whether you are able to show it or not).

Create images in your mind which represent this love and acceptance that you have for your self.You may see your self treating your self to something you like, or hugging your self, or dancing ordoing something you like. Imagine your self functioning in your daily life; at home, at work, insocial situations with complete self acceptance in each situation. See your self feeling confidentand at ease with all people.

See that you are not concerned about what they think about you. You accept your self and themindependent of their opinions of you. See that your self acceptance allows you to accept others andbe free from the need to have their acceptance, and thus you are free from fear, and can be muchmore natural. Imagine your self functioning naturally and simply in all situations like a child fullof purity and sincerity. Imagine all this and anything else positive which comes to your mind,everyday and you will see major changes in your life.

SELF CONFIDENCE

Like our self acceptance, our feelings of self confidence are also undermined in our early formativeyears. We at that time do not have a clear idea of what we are actually able to do. Our parents andteachers, in their attempt to help us, often criticized us for our mistakes, and made us feelincapable and unworthy when we made mistakes. They may have given us these messages in manyways, verbal and otherwise, that we do not know, that we are not capable.

We may spend a whole life time undermining our success so as to continue to verify that we arefailures or incapable. Or we may spend a whole life time «showing» the others just how capablewe are. These may lead us to health and happiness-destroying life style in which we giveimportance only to what might get us recognition in the eyes of the others such as money,professional position, sexual vitality, a good looking body, various material possessions andvarious other status symbols. We may chase after these just to prove to the others that we are ableand successful so that we can have their recognition.

Until, however, we realize ourselves that we are capable, we will not be satisfied. I have met alarge number of extremely capable persons who have not yet recognized their abilities because ofsuch negative programming. The following technique will be helpful to many people in variousaspects of their lives.

a. After relaxing your body and mind with one of the various relaxation techniques, begin toimagine yourself as strong, vibrant and capable. Imagine your self performing various activitieswith self confidence and ease. Imagine that you are comfortable with all types of activities becauseyou are sure of yourself. You are sure that you will be able to do it.

b. Imagine various activities or situations in which you usually do not feel sure of your self oreven feel fear. Imagine your self in each situation separately and imagine that you feel absolutelycalm, confident and sure of yourself and that you handle those situations without any problemswhatsoever.

c. Imagine your day as you have it planned. Your meetings with new people, various projectswhich you have planned and imagine your self moving through all these activities with a sense ofsurety and ease. Imagine that your confidence attracts the respect and trust of others, that theybelieve in you and depend on you; and that you are comfortable with that responsibility.

d. Imagine your self in new situations which may in that past have caused some self doubt, andimagine that you are feeling very confident that you will learn to function gradually in thatsituation as you have in so many others.

e. Repeat to yourself the phrase, «I am capable of handling any situation which life may present tome. I am an immortal soul in the process of evolution. Life is giving me the situations andopportunities which I need in order to continue to develop and manifest my inner potential». It isnot necessary for the words to be the same, but that you concentrate on these truths while in therelaxation.

f. Be creative in developing your own images and phrases.

A DEEP RELAXATION TECHNIQUE FORTRANSFORMING CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES

Many of us have had traumatic experiences in our childhood which have left scars in oursubconscious mind. These scars, regardless of whether we are aware of them consciously or not,affect our beliefs and feelings about ourselves, others and the world. They often limit ouremotional and mental development and harmony. They can frequently create illness in our bodies.Illnesses which are frequently (not always) a function of such suppressed childhood traumas areallergies, asthma, skin problems, headaches, arthritis, rheumatism and a general weakness in theimmune system. Also such traumas may be stored in certain muscles or limbs of the body,especially if that event of the past had something to do with violence to some specific part of thebody.

The following technique should be done only under the guidance of an experienced psychologist,psychiatrist, yoga teacher or someone experienced in guiding persons through such innerexperiences. There is no real danger to one’s health, but the emotions which might be releasedshould be handled properly by an experienced guide.

a. After you have relaxed your body and mind with some technique, you start to go back into yourchildhood years. You can start out with an image of yourself when you were 18 years old.Remember how you were dressed, where you were, what you were doing. Let some scene fromthat year come clearly into your mind.

b. Then go back to the age of 15. Let a scene come into your mind, remember how you weredressed, where you were, with whom, what you were doing and how you felt at that moment. Inthis way begin to work backwards investigating various scenes from various stages in your life.

c. When you come to the age of 12 begin to work back one year at a time investigating in moredetail. We may have traumatic experiences even after the age of 12 (we can have one today), butthose before the age of twelve tend to be more deeply rooted in our subconscious mind. Do not belimited, however, to these ages in your search; be flexible and flow where your mind takes you.

d. When you come upon an experience which was painful, then let yourself feel that pain or hurt.Let your self cry or shout or move your body in a way in which it wants to move by itself. Manytend to curl up into the position of the embryo on their sides when they get in touch with veryearly experiences.

Do not stifle your feelings, but recognize them and let them flow out. If you have feelings of angertowards someone who has harmed you or hurt your feelings, then you may want to imagine thatperson before you talk to him. You would do well to talk to him out loud imagining that he or sheis standing before you. Express the feelings that you have towards them. Express your hurt, yourfear, your resentment, your disillusionment and even your anger or feelings of revenge if there areany. It is at these moments, should they occur (it is not necessary that everyone have suchexperiences) that it is essential for there to be an understanding, loving guide with you to help youexpress and then overcome these feelings.

e. Once you have pretty much released these feelings in some way, usually by crying, talking ormoving, then you can relax again and begin to focus once again on the scene which caused you this

pain. Now, however, you will experience this same scene in a different way. Now that you havegrown up, you realize that you were not in real danger then. If others were trying to hurt youphysically, you know that you survived and that you are safe, that really there was no need to fearso much. It was just a momentary experience, which you would surpass. If the hurt was emotionalfrom people who rejected you or let you down in some way, now you realize that they were notable to do otherwise with the level of consciousness that they had then. You now realize that theirnegative attitude towards you was a function of their own problems and not a function of yourworthiness.

You realize that if they were not able to show you love or affection, it was because they were notfeeling okay about themselves, not because you did not deserve love and attention. I think you getthe idea. You relive the same scene, imagining that you are the tiny innocent child, with theknowledge which you have today. You know now that you will grow up, that you are capable,that your life will proceed independently of those experiences.

Thus you let yourself imagine yourself going through that same childhood experience with the newstrength, self acceptance and self-confidence that you now have as an adult. In this way you defusethe power of that experience. That experience had power over you because of your lack ofexperience and your lack of understanding of the powers which are within you. If you knew thenwhat you know today, you would not have been so affected by what people said and did. Now youimagine that you are a little child but that you feel the strength and self acceptance of an adult.

f. Once you have done this, then imagine your self as you are today approaching that little childthat you were. Take the child in your arms and embrace him with love. Hold him close to you andlet him feel that you love him and that he is safe and secure in your arms. Let him feel your lovefor him. Love the child that you were. Imagine that scene of hugging that child and also identifywith the child who is now feeling loved and protected and peaceful and happy. Continue readingon to see how you can proceed from here.

LOVING THE CHILD THAT YOU WERE

The last paragraph of the previous exercise (f.) can be done alone and does not need a guide as theearlier part of the exercise did. This is a wonderful relaxation for all; and is extremely healing onall levels of our being. After entering into the state of relaxation, imagine your self at variousstages of your life and imagine your self as you are today approaching and hugging and expressinglove and acceptance to your self exactly as you were without any changes whatsoever.

Forgive any guilt which you had about any mistakes which you made. Realize that those mistakeswere made out of ignorance and lack of experience. Let go of all feelings of inadequacy and realizethat you are a soul in the process of evolution, and that you are continually learning. In this way,work through various images of that past, stopping at each and feeling acceptance and love foryour self in each case. If you had any injuries in the past imagine yourself sending healing energyto that part of your body, then in the past. It may seem strange to you, but it may be possible tochange the present and future by changing the past - since they all exist, in reality, in the present,which is the only reality.

LETTING GO OF RESENTMENT

Feelings of resentment, which sometimes lead to disillusionment, anger and even hate, have a verypowerful affect on our nervous and endocrine system, and eventually on our immune system.When such feelings also lead to feelings of weakness, helplessness and hopelessness, then ourdefense system is more seriously weakened. It has been shown in many scientific studies that thedefense system is frequently weakened after the unexpected loss of something very important tous, such as a loved one, a job, a home, our social status or anything else which is very important tous and whose loss we cannot accept. In a number of these cases cancer or some other result ofimmune weakness is developed.

It is also believed that resentment when long standing in a body can be transferred into physicalterms as arthritic or rheumatic problems. This transferal of specific emotions into physicalphenomena is an extremely interesting field which will gain much more attention in coming yearsas science will be forced to investigate it. Until now it is known and accepted mostly to those whowork on the spiritual level.

The following visualizations can help us to release such negative emotions which are withoutdoubt affecting in some way our state of health and our harmony with our selves and others. Wewould all do well to get free from such emotions, for in the last analysis, why should we continueto harm ourselves, because someone performed some injustice to us in the past.

When we hold on to resentment or anger or hate towards that person, we only harm ourselvesmore. Those feelings exist in our body; they affect our liver, our kidneys, our heart, our bloodvessels, not the other’s. They inhibit our feelings of happiness, not his. They limit our reality, nothis. We are only harming ourselves with these feelings. When we are hurt by some event of life,such as the loss of a loved one or something else very important to us, what do we gain by holdingon to the past, but concentrating with bitterness on the injustice of life? Does life suffer or do wesuffer?

We cannot change those events of the past. But we can change our attitude towardsthem. If there is something which we can do in the present to better the quality of our lives, let usdo it. But let us let go of the negative feelings which are created by our insistence that life be theway we want it to be. Let us let go of the idea that if things are not the way we have beenprogrammed to believe that they must be, then we cannot be happy.

We can be happy if we want to. It is up to us and this technique will help us. As Ken Keyes says,«When you worry about what you do not have, you loose what you do have». Let us start to look atwhat we do have, I am sure we will see that it is quite wonderful, if we can let go of the past andsee the present as it really is. This is an essential part of our self therapy and self-transformationprocess.

a. After creating a state of deep relaxation, bring to your mind one by one the various negativefeelings which you have been having about specific events or problems in your life. If you areholding negative feelings towards anyone, then bring that person to your mind and experiencethose feelings. Imagine your self expressing to the other how you are feeling. Explain to him or herwhy you are feeling that way, how you have been hurt, disappointed. Explain how you didn’texpect what happened, and how you would really have liked things to have happened differently.

Express your self in your mind as clearly as you can, not only your anger, but also your feelings ofhurt and vulnerability.

b. Once you have mentally expressed your feelings, then realize that these persons have acted outof weakness, out of fear and ignorance. There is no reason to condemn them. They have made amistake. We too make mistakes. FORGIVE them and let go of your negative feelings. Forgivethem and create if possible positive feelings towards them. Realize that they, like you, are in aprocess of evolution. They cannot be perfect. They will make mistakes.

c. Realize that you too are a soul in the process of evolution and that in truth, nothing can reallyharm you. You are indestructible and self-sufficient. Feel strong, big, safe and secure and forgivethe other, realizing that your happiness and security cannot really depend on someone else.

d. Realize too that there is a universal law of cause and effect and that nothing could everhappen to you if you did not deserve it, if it was not useful for your evolutionaryprocess. Thus realizing that, in fact, no one has ever done you an injustice. For some reason, ithad to happen in that way regardless if you are able to understand why. That does not mean thatwe let people do what they want. We express to them our displeasure or in some cases we protectourselves, even through court cases, but we let go of negative feelings. We can correct the other’sactions and protect ourselves from them without having negative feelings towards them; negativefeelings which harm us more than them.

e. Thus while we are in the relaxation, we can imagine ourselves forgiving the other and acceptinghim. We can imagine that we are at good terms with each other. If you feel ready, you can evenimagine that you are embracing, making up and experiencing love and harmony between you. Ifthis is difficult, you can at least wish them to be healthy and happy in their lives. Do this for all thepeople in your family (independent as to whether you feel that you have serious problems withthem). Do this with relatives, especially with parents and with coworkers or anyone else who hasbeen close to you and has had the opportunity to hurt you, or disappoint you.

f. In this way, forgive each important person in your life for everything. Work on each person andeach event separately and specifically. When you have difficulty forgiving a specific person, workon him or her in your relaxation on a daily basis until you overcome your inner resistance. Thiswill do wonders for your own health and vitality.

If your resentment is towards life or towards God, then do the same technique imagining life orGod in some way and working in the same way. If you are feeling weak and helpless in a difficultworld as a result of these difficulties which you have passed through, work on the technique forSELF CONFIDENCE or the technique of CONTACT WITH GOD.

Doing this daily will free us from negative emotions concerning ourselves and others. If theseemotions are intense, it would be better to seek out professional help in this process.

The following technique will help us to develop new patterns of emotional reaction. We tend to getinto mechanical ways of reacting to situations. Often these mechanical emotional reactions arenegative and destructive both to our health and to our relationships. In some cases, they alsoundermine our success professionally, or socially.

When we are under the control of such unconscious mechanisms, we are not free to react in theway we would really like to act. Often we feel disappointed in ourselves or even guilty about theway we have behaved. We couldn’t do otherwise, however, because we have been programmed toreact in this way, and we react before we are even aware of what we are doing. These reactions arereflex actions which means that they happen unconsciously, without our being able to understandwhat we are doing and to decide whether we want to react in that way or not. This type of behavioroften stimulates the worst in others and creates a vicious circle of negative interactions between usand others.

This results in a continual stress and wear and tear on our nervous system and thus a disturbancein all systems of our body, especially the digestive system. People living in such situations oftenhave pains in their abdominal area, in the gall bladder, liver, duodenum or stomach.

The following technique will help anyone suffering from negative emotional reaction patterns tobegin to change them.

a. After having moved into the state of deep relaxation, bring a particular negative emotion whichyou have been having lately to your mind. See how it feels in your body. Feel what parts of thebody are caused to tense by this emotion. Allow yourself to experience that tension in its fullness,sense where it is coming from and what it want to tell you, “Why is it tensing?”, What is itfeeling?”.

b. Allow this emotions and feeling in that part of the body to express itself in any way which mightcome naturally such as crying, laughing, yawning, moving in any way, etc.

c. After this energy releases itself to some degree and you have calmed down to some extent,think, «What is the opposite emotion of this emotion». When you have decided on what theopposite emotion is, start concentrating on it and cultivate that feeling in your body and yourmind. For example if your usual emotion is fear, you might decide that the opposite is courage, orfearlessness, or love, or security. You will select the word which seems most suitable to you andwill concentrate on it.

d Imagine your self in the same situation in which you until now felt that feeling of fear, but nowimagine and feel yourself reacting with the new opposite emotions which you have chosen. Ifyou are used to feeling hurt, imagine your self feeling security, or love, or understanding or self-fulfillment or any other emotion which is the opposite of hurt for you. Or if you are used to feelinganger, imagine your self feeling understanding, inner security, self-fulfillment or love, peace etc.

e. In this way work through your basic negative emotions on a daily basis. Experience how thesenew emotions feel in your body. Experience the effect of the emotions of love, peace and securityon your physical body. These are very healing emotions.

In the beginning, you will experience these changes only during your relaxation and will still reactin the same way while «in action». Gradually, however, you will obtain more and more objectiveself awareness even while you are involved in activities.

Then will come the stage in which you will be aware that you are making a mistake, but will not beable to stop. Then eventually you will arrive at the stage, where you will see that you are about toget into a mechanical emotional reaction which is not useful to you or anyone else, and you willbe able to react differently and consciously as you have been programming your self daily inyour relaxation.

This does not mean that you will be suppressing emotions. The emotions which you have beenhaving until now are no more «real» than the ones you are now programming into your mentalcomputer. The way you have been feeling until now is just the emotional reaction which wasprogrammed into you when you were a child. Both are equally not you.

The ideal of course would be to complement this reprogramming process with changing basicbeliefs (which are the actual causes of emotions). But these will not be gone into here. (If you areinterested in this most interesting and important transformation process, consult the two books«PSYCHOLOGY OF HAPPINESS» and «MIRACLES OF LOVE AND WISDOM» by the sameauthor.)

LETTING THE EMOTION TAKE A FORM

We can often work with negative emotions which may be producing ill health or other negativerealities in our life by letting these emotions take a form in our minds and working with themsymbolically. This in most cases will require a guide, not because it is dangerous, but because it isdifficult to give instructions to one self in such a passive state.

A. After entering into a state of relaxation bring to mind the emotion you would like to experience,understand or transcend. Now let that emotion become a form in your mind. What color does ithave? What are its qualities? What kind of movement does it have?

B. Once the form of the emotion has been established as concretely as possible, you begin to forma relationship with the emotion.

1. You ask it want it wants from you?2. What its needs are?3. What its cause is? When and how it was born in you?4. What is that it needs in order to be helped to feel better or transformed into its positive

self?

These questions may seem strange to you while reading in this «beta» consciousness state inwhich your mind is externally focused; but in a good deep relaxation with a good guide, you will beamazed and the discovery, release and transformation which can take place.

Our eventual goal is to reconcile ourselves with this emotion. To accept it, to accept that it is aprotective mechanism (which we may not need any more) and then shower it with love and light.Can you imagine what would happen if you showered your depression, hate, fear, or anger withlove and light. In most cases they diminish, because they are based on ignorance, darkness,alienation and fear.

When you show those parts of your self love and bless them with light, they no longer need tofeel that way. They can now relax and feel differently.

C. Now bring to your mind what the opposite positive emotion would be in this case. How couldyou feel differently in the same situation? Focus on this positive attitude toward the samestimulus. Imagine your self able to feel and react differently in this same situation.

Thus, in this technique:

1. we let our emotion take a form,

2. we create a relationship with it,

3. we give it a chance to communicate any messages to us,

4. and then we shower it with love and light, and let it unite with us and be healed. Healing theseparts of our selves is an integral part of healing ourselves of our physical problems.

LETTING OUR PAINS, ILLNESSES OR PROBLEMSTAKE A FORM

The above process can also be used in dealing with other negative aspects of our lives such aspains, illnesses, or problems. The stages are approximately the same.

A. After relaxing deeply, we let our pain, or illnesses or problem of any type take a form. It may bea hazy shadowy form, a specific clear form, or geometric figure, or an animal, plant, or human(stranger or known person), or it may even appear as a specific scene, event or situation from ourlives, or perhaps a symbolic imaginary object, scene or event. In this way we may discover that ourpain in the shoulder has something to do with our pent up emotions towards our husband, wife ormother in law. Or that an illness that we have has to do with our overeating or our overworking.

Through the symbolic messages which we will get through this process we can obtain veryimportant information concerning not only the real underlying causes of our pain, illnesses orproblems, but also about their solutions. This, of course, is 100% more effective if we havesomeone experienced in this type of work to guide us.

B. Once the form of our «problem» has appeared in our consciousness (we will use this one word“problem” now to indicate the three possibilities mentioned until now), we begin to create arelationship with it.

1. We ask it what it wants?

2. What its needs are?

3. What it is trying to teach us?

4. What is the lesson we need to learn from this problem in order to transcend it and go onin our evolutionary process? Seeing our pains and illnesses as lessons in life is a very importantpart of gaining from them and surpassing them. Find out in what way you can help this symbol orform or situation which is in your mind to become something positive.

In some cases you may have to accept something which until now you have found unacceptable. Inothers you may have to send light and love to a part of you or a part of your life, or a person whichuntil now you have rejected. Or you may get the message that you have to make some type ofchange in your life style, perhaps express your emotions more freely, or involve your self in morecreative self expression or change your diet.

C. Now focus on the opposite positive way of perceiving this situation or of acting in thissituation. Image your self thinking, feeling or acting in this way.

Upon completing the relaxation, always surround the form or scene with light and love. Use theinformation which you gained for making changes in your way of life.

RECOGNIZING AND MANIFESTING TALENTS,ABILITIES AND QUALITIES

There are many abilities, talents and positive qualities lying dormant within you waiting for achance to be released, developed and manifested. Because this is the purpose of your life on theearth, when this purpose is not being actively processed and allowed to happen, then it can causefrustration, and negative physical and emotional states. There will be a lack of fulfillment and alack of meaning in life; for one is not living in harmony with his purpose. The reasons why thishappens are many and cannot be discussed here. The following technique will help you to tuneinto these abilities, talents and qualities and decided which ones you may want to startmanifesting and how you will begin.

A. After entering into a state of relaxation begin to think about all of the abilities which you have.Do not be modest and do not forget simple abilities such as cooking, cleaning, massaging others,loving and caring for others, a talent for working with numbers, and interest in playing a musicalorgan, a good voice for singing, a talent for listening to others’ problems, an ability to organizethings or guide others.

B. Think too of qualities which you would like to develop such as love, peace, clarity or mind,fearlessness, right action, nonviolence, selflessness etc. After you have let these variouspossibilities flow through your mind, ask your self (or have someone guide you) «which of thesethings would I like now at this stage of my life to develop first?». Let three or four come to ourmind.

If you have difficulty in deciding, imagine that you meet a very wise man on a mountain top andask him, «what are the most important of all these for me to develop now». Listen for his answer.

C. Then ask your self or the wise being (within you) what is the best way in which I can get startedwith this process of developing these talents, abilities and qualities?» Upon coming out of therelaxation record all your thoughts so that they are not lost.

(In general it would be very constructive to keep a note book where you will record whatever hasto do with your self development and self transformation process which will include what is goingon on all levels: physical, emotional, energy, mental and spiritual).

An additional help for the first part of this technique in which you are letting various talents cometo your mind is to put on a piece of music, relax deeply and then let the music create images ofvarious «adventures» in your mind. Let these images show you various stories about your selfconfronting various «obstacles» and experiences, and the talents and other powers which youhave which enable you to deal with these usually imaginary situations. This is a very pleasantexercise which can bring about important inner realizations. Music is a powerful stimulant for thefreeing up of the subconscious mind. You can make a tape with a variety of different small pieceswhich will stimulate different adventures.

D. Imagine your self actually manifesting these abilities and talents, free from any type of obstacle.

E. Begin a program for developing and expressing these talents and abilities

The healing power of the sun can be experienced emotionally and physically through the followingtechnique. Enter into deep relaxation and then imagine that you are leaving your physical body onthe mat where it is lying and floating upwards towards the ceiling. This has nothing to do withastral travel. You are not actually leaving your body. You are releasing your identification to yourphysical body and letting your conscious awareness and imagination flow upwards. Experience thesense of freedom, of bodilessness, of lightness, of release as you leave the body below and float upto the ceiling of the room where you are (if you are in a room). Pass through the ceiling and abovethe building, continue upward watching the buildings get smaller and smaller below you. Continueupward to the level of the clouds (if there are any) and keep on going at your own speed until youstart approaching the Sun. Stay there near the sun and absorb its warm life giving, healing energy.Let it pass into all parts of your being. You may imagine yourself at this time as having a type ofsubtle body or not, it does not matter. Just let this healing energy of the sun merge with all parts ofyour being, whatever your being may be like. You may even feel yourself merging with the sun andbecoming one with it. Stay in this blissful state until you feel that you are satisfied and ready toreturn to your body on the earth, which too has been reaping the benefits of your solar contact. Ithink that you can probably imagine what a positive effect this technique has on the body andmind.

MUSIC RELAXATION

Today more and more is being recognized and understood about the healing power of music. Inancient times this was considered an obvious fact, and was used extensively in various mysteryschools for stimulating certain physical and emotional forces in the body and mind. Select the typeof music which has a positive effect on you and enter into a deep relaxation as you listen to it. Ifyou need time to enter into relaxation you can let the tape be empty for the first ten or fifteenminutes depending on how long you need to get into that altered state of consciousness. Let themusic flow into you. Start to listen with other parts of your body. Imagine the music entering intoyour feet - imagine your feet are like ears which are able to accept sound vibrations. Listen with allparts of your body, your shins, thighs, buttocks, lower back, abdomen, chest, neck, upper back,arms, your face and forehead and top of your head. By this time you will feel that your body hasdissolved and that you have become one with the music, that you are the music. This will stimulatevarious strong feelings. You may feel joy, or pain, or love. You may feel the need to laugh or to cry.You may feel deep peace in all your being. In any case, negative and positive feelings might beevoked and energies will flow and be balanced. This is especially useful to those who are blockedin expressing their feelings.

Colored, like sound, too has been known for thousands of years to have healing powers. You canlet various colors vibrate within you as healing forces while in relaxation. After entering into thestate of relaxation, begin to concentrate on the color which you feel brings you the greatest feelingof peace and wholeness, or which you feel is missing from your aura. Various people with psychicabilities have created various formulas relating various certain colors as remedies for variousillnesses or for certain emotional states. Although there is some agreement between the variousbooks on this subject, there are also discrepancies. For that reason, I believe that each personwould best tune in to his own inner self and sense which colors feel best to him. If you are notsure, then you can start out the relaxation going through the colors of the rainbow. You can startby imagining the color red and feeling it in all parts of your body. Notice how this color vibrationfeels in you. Then proceed onto orange and do the same. Then yellow, green, blue, and then darkblue or «indigo» as it is called, and then purple; and complete your session with pure white whichhas all colors in it. If during the movement through the colors, you had an especially goodexperience with a certain color, you can then return to the color and imagine it in all parts of yourbody and mind as a healing force. Stay with that color as long as you like, and then finish up withwhite again. If you find that certain colors have a good feeling to you, then you might like to selectclothing with those colors to wear at this time in your life. You may also decorate your room withthis color or even get a light bulb which radiates this color light. These color vibrations will have ahealing effect both on your body and your mind.

In this relaxation we identify with the light and with God as the universal light. It is a wonderfulway for people who want t have contact with God but have a blockage towards worshipping a formin order to have that contact. It is healing for all levels of our being, physical, emotional, energy,mental and spiritual. It brings all in alignment with the universal being.

Enter into deep relaxation and begin to imagine a white light in the center of your forehead. Youcould imagine it or feel it as candle flame, or as the sun, or a formless light, or in any other waywhich is suitable to you. Let this light expand and fill all the area of your brain cavity. Imagine thatit is permeating every cell in the brain, relaxing and enlightening each cell. Then let the light passdown into the neck relaxing and healing the muscles, nerves and cells into light. Let it continuedown and settle in the center of the chest. Let is linger there as it increases and floods all the chestarea with the sensation of light. Then let it flow downwards into the abdomen relaxing andbringing light to all the organs there. When they too have become light, let the light pass downinto the buttocks and legs as if the legs are tubes through which this light flows. Let the legsbecome full of light. When this is felt, let the same thing happen in the arms and fingers - theybecome light. Now the body has become filled with light. Every part of the body is immersed inlight. (Work slowly - do not rush).

Now let the light expand beyond the limitations of the physical body and create an aura aroundthe body. Now the light is all around you. Now imagine the light in the body merge with the lightoutside of the body and become one light. In this way the physical boundaries of your bodydisappear, and you become light - you are not a light without body sensation. Enjoy this feeling.

Now imagine God as a huge (limitless if you can imagine it) light which is now present near you.Imagine the light which you are merging and uniting with the huge light which is God. Experienceunity with God, and enjoy this state of bliss as long as it lasts. Whenever thoughts or bodysensation come into your mind bring back this feeling of unity, of light, of oneness with God.

Love is the most healing of all energies. It balances all our body functions. It brings peace, joy andwellbeing. Unfortunately it is not easy for us to feel secure enough to love all people - includingourselves. We do have much love within us, but it is blocked; we are unable to feel it or express it.This technique will help us to remove these blockages and help our love to flow.

Enter into the state of deep relaxation. Then begin to concentrate on the center of your chestwhere your «heart» or «love» center is. Cultivate the feeling of love. Feel it like energy building upin your chest creating positive feelings. Bring to your mind someone that you love or have loved inthe past. Let your feelings of love for that person build up in you; as caring interest in helping theother, wishing him to be well, wanting him to be healthy and successful and happy. Let thesefeelings increase in your chest area. Now bring to mind the various members of your family andfeel the same love for each one separately. Feel that you want each one separately to be happy, todo what makes him feel fulfilled, to be healthy and to succeed in life. (Loving does not mean thatyou want to possess or want the other to fulfill your expectations. Loving is letting the other befree to be who he really is and be happy and fulfilled in being that). Then bring into your mindyour various friends and do the same. Take each one individually and feel love for each. Then goon to various people from your work environment and do the same. Then go on to imagine variousstrangers who you do not know. Once you have done this start to bring to mind various peoplewho have harmed you in the past and towards whom you have negative feelings. Bring to mindpeople you have difficulty loving. Let your love flow towards them each one individually. Wish forthem to be healthy, happy and successful in their lives.

After completing this process, imagine your love like a circle of light that is expanding outwardsfrom you filling the room, expanding beyond the room and filling up the neighborhood, sendinglove into all the houses. Then let your circle of love-light encompass the entire city, and then thestate and the whole country in which you live. Go at your own place; do not rush. Proceed then toinclude the whole continent where you live sending love to all the peoples of all the nationstherein. Then continue in this way encompassing all the continents until your circle of love is like asphere of light enveloping the whole planet Earth. You have not expanded much beyond yoursmall selfish self into your large universal self; you have gotten in touch with your real self.

Doing this frequently, daily if possible, will break down our barriers to love and allow the lovewithin us to manifest itself in our lives This will be healing of our selves and all those around us.

DISIDENTIFYING WITH OUR BODIES ANDIDENTIFYING WITH OUR SOULS

According to ancient philosophers, all man’s problems are a result of his identification with andattachment to his body and personality which are in fact only temporary vehicles for theexpression of his immortal, real self, the soul. Thus our illnesses and emotional problems too are aresult of this mistake. If we can learn to let go of this identification and identify more with our soulnature many of our problems will be transcended. A person, who learns to philosophize about life,takes life’s difficulties much more positively than one who is extremely attached to the body andpersonality. This technique will help us to start this process of detachment. You can get thephilosophical basis of this truth through the books «PSYCHOLOGY OF HAPPINESS», «THEMYSTICAL CIRCLE OF LIFE» and «MIRACLES OF LOVE AND WISDOM».

Relax deeply. Then begin to become conscious of your body again. As you feel each part of yourbody repeat inwardly, «I am not this. This is a temporary part of my being. This body will die. Iwill continue», or something of this nature. Recognize that you are not your leg or arm orabdomen, but something beyond that - a consciousness that is able to observe these and continuewithout them. Whatever you are able to observe, you cannot be. Thus as you proceed andbecome aware of your feelings, you let them go too; for you are not them. They are temporarystates of mind, which are flowing through you. The same is true of your thoughts and of thevarious sense inputs, like what you hear or smell. All these are temporary phenomena and notyour real self. Your real self is the consciousness which is observing all this. Do this until you feelyour self as separate from your body, feelings, senses and thoughts; and experience your self assomething limitless. You can continue to search for your real self or simply stay with the feeling ofdetachment from all that is happening. This technique can lead to various spiritual experiencesand will not have better results if you have contact with a spiritual guide or some group that isdoing serious spiritual work.

A MEETING WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL GUIDE

We all have a spiritual guide who is continually in touch with us whether we are aware of this ornot. Or if you cannot believe this, perhaps you can believe that there is a higher part of your ownself who is able to guide you if you can come into contact with it. In either case the followingtechnique will help you to establish that contact. You may then use that contact to answer variousquestions or make decisions that are important to you.

Enter into a state of deep relaxation. Now imagine that you are standing in a beautiful place innature where are trees, flowers, butterflies, birds, sunlight and various images and even soundsand smells which you enjoy. Walk through this place in nature and enjoy what you are seeing andfeeling. Now you will find a mountain in front of you and will begin to climb up it along a very easyand comfortable path which stretches out before you. Continue climbing at your own rate enjoyingthe beings of nature all around you. Continue even higher and notice that you are going so highthat the trees are becoming less dense. Continue upwards going higher and higher until you arevery high above the world. On the top of the mountain you will find a small plateau. There you willfind a being who is radiating with peace and light. This is your spirit guide (or higher self, if youlike). Approach him (or her) and sit down by him. He knows you well. He has lived every minuteof your life with you. He loves you and accepts you totally just as you are. Feel his love andacceptance and peace. Sit and be with him. Ask him his name so that you can know what to callhim. Ask him if he will answer some questions. Ask your questions and listen to the answers. Youmay hear them coming from him or they may simply pop into your mind from nowhere. Acceptthe first answer that comes to your mind. Go on to the next. Ask important questions, like, «whatis the purpose of my life? What is it that I have come to learn? What is it that is preventing mefrom being healthier, happier? What must I do in order to overcome the obstacles in my life at thistime?» Ask these and other questions which have to do with your spiritual development, and withyour health, if that is an obstacle to you at this time. Also ask how you can maintain this contactwith him so that you may receive messages and guidance on a continual basis. Ask also if he hasany other specific advice that he would like to give you.

Some will experience this being as a known figure like Christ or mother Mary; others as a wise oldman or woman. Others may see some other form, and others still may simply feel the presence ofthis being without actually seeing it. All cases are fine and beneficial. Once you have developedthis contact through a number of deep relaxations, try to maintain the feeling of the presence ofthis being in your life at all times, while engaged in your various activities.

The above technique can be used to find your real purpose in life (if you are not already living it).We mention this separately because it is an extremely important factor in finding one’s health,happiness and harmony in life. While in touch with your spirit guide or higher self, be sure toconcentrate on these questions. «What should I be doing with my life? What is the reason forwhich I have incarnated? What are the lessons that I have come to learn? What are my innerobstacles towards learning those lessons and living the purpose of my life? How can I overcomethose obstacles?» These extremely important questions can be posed to our higher self or simplyasked in a state of deep concentration and observing the first answers which come to our minds. Itis easier and more effective if we have someone to guide us.

There are seven centers of bio-energy or centers of consciousness which are likecontrol centers in our bodies. They affect all the organs and cells of our body andalso our emotional and mental sites. There is a whole science behind the awakeningand harmonizing of these centers, which require various preparatory proceduressuch as purification of the body through fasting and proper diet, and harmonizationof our emotional life. For this reason I will not include here the techniques availablefor working with these energy centers. I will include a simple technique which canbe useful to all for harmonizing the higher centers.

This should not be done for more than five minutes without the guidance of ateacher. (Not including the time required to establish the state of relaxation).Concentrate on your forehead and relax it. Imagine it like a flower which is opening.Now let your concentration come down into your throat. Feel a relaxation there andan opening. Then move down into your “heart center” in the center of your chest.Feel a sensation of opening there, as if a hole is opening up. Now let your attentionmove back to the point in you upper back which is behind your heart center. Relaxthat area. Now let your attention move upwards to the back of the neck, and relaxthat area. Let your attention flow up the back of your head and rest on the top ofyour skull. Relax that area. Move down to the center of the forehead and feel deeperrelaxation and opening. Move down to the throat, then to the heart center, thenback to the center of the upper back, and then up into the back of the neck stoppingat each point and relaxing each area. Continue in this way up to the top of the headand down to the forehead each time relaxing that area more deeply. Do this movingdown the front of the body and up the back of the body between the chest and thetop of the head continuously for about five minutes. Do not surpass this limitwithout the guidance of a teacher. If you feel unusual symptoms doing even lessthan five minutes discontinue the practice, and consult a person experienced inthese matters.

OTHER POSSIBILITIES

There are infinite possibilities for various other techniques while in the state of deeprelaxation. These are some which are simpler and most beneficial for self-healing.Others which are also extremely beneficial for self-healing are the SIMULATEDDEATH EXPERIENCE and REGRESSIONS INTO PAST LIVES. As both of theserequire expert guidance there is no reason to include them here.

I encourage you to use your intuition to select which techniques are most beneficialto you at this stage of your development and use them on a daily basis. Eventuallyyou can try out various techniques. Work on each one for a reasonable amount oftime. If you can find an experienced guide to help you in the beginning this would bevery useful.

TECHNIQUES FOR POSITIVE PROJECTIONAND LIFE ENHANCEMENT

A. How our Reality is Created

1. The soul takes a body and forgets its true divine nature.

2. It identifies with the body and personality.

3. It fears pain or death for the body and / or personality.

4. It interprets every input (event, situation or others' behavior) as supporting (safe) or threatening(dangerous) to its basic needs.

5. When it experiences something as threatening, it creates a tension or disturbance in the body's energyfield.

6.Around these subjective "conclusions" are formed the following:a. Beliefsb. Energy Fieldsc. Emotions

7. We are not free to experience peace, happiness, safety, self-worth or love in any situation but arecontrolled by these crystallized beliefs, emotions, needs and defense mechanisms.

8. We loose our emotional freedom and react mechanically - in accordance with those crystallized fields.

9. Life mirrors these to us and we experience a reality, which reflects our beliefs, emotions and energyfields. We create our reality through:a. Our past choicesb. Present beliefs, fears, needs etc.c. Lessons we have come to learnd. How we interpret reality.

10. Life presents us exactly what we need in each moment in order to learn our next lesson and free ourselves from this robot-like behavior.11. We have Free Will to learn and change or not.

12. Our life purpose is this freedom, enlightenment or perfection.

METHODS OF GETTING FREE FROM REPETITIVEMECHANICAL THINKING AND NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

A. The power to change lies in the following.

When our bodies and minds relax our nervous, endocrine, and immune systems are rejuvenated and comeinto harmony – creating health and peace in all the body and mind and thus:

1. We are free from psychosomatic illnesses.

2. We have greater clarity of mind, creativity and productivity.

3. We have greater energy and more positive emotions and attitudes.

4. We have greater problem solving abilities

5. We create more harmonious relationships and have more patience and understanding for the others.

6. In relaxation we are in the alpha state and the subconscious mind is open to being programmedpositively.

7. We can now program our subconscious minds to feel more secure and worthy and thus more self-confident.

B. We have various tools

1. Simple Relaxation- Simply relax all the body and mind

a. Sit with spine straight or lying down on firm surface.

b. Focus on breathing – with each inhalation take in peace, and with each exhalation surrender letting goof any tension.

c. Allow the conscious awareness to flow through the body allowing each part to let go and relax.

d. Count backwards from 10 to 1, allowing the mind to relax more deeply with each descending number.

e. Allow the mind to let go of thoughts and sink into an ever deeper state of peace andconcentration.

In this state of relaxation we have various options and opportunities

HEALING OURSELVES AND OTHERS

1. Light relaxation where we allow "vibrations of inner light" enter into and rejuvenate all the organs,limbs and cells of the body.

2. We can direct Healing Energy to ourselves and others.

3. We can get information from our subconscious concerning the causes of a pain or physicalproblem and transform it.

INCREASING SELF- CONFIDENCE

4. We can visualize ourselves with self-confidence and self-acceptance, capable of dealing with anysituation and being successful in our endeavors.

5. We can visualize ourselves manifesting our goals and succeding at endeavors.Make list of actions & visualize doing them.

IMPROVING RELATIONSHIPS

6. We can heal a relationship with a person with whom we are having difficulties. (Family, friends,coworkers etc.)

7. We can cultivate forgiveness towards others or ourselves.

OVERCOMING NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

8. We can overcome fear & anxiety.

9. We can discover and transform emotions which are creating certain psychosomatic problems.

10. We can discover and transform the beliefs which are creating those emotions.

11. We can remember and transform childhood experiences which have caused our particularsensitivities.

12. We can release negative emotions which are suppressing our happiness and thus feel better.13. We can transform negative emotions in to positive ones.

INNER GUIDANCE

19. We can come into contact with the Divine (each according to his or her own perception of theDivine) and take strength and peace from this relationship.

20. We can surrender all of our worries and anxieties to the Divine (of course we will do whateverwe can to create what we want - but at that moment we will surrender the results of our efforts to DivineWill.)
