Summary

Professional and academic experience

2013 – Present University of Gloucestershire (UK)

Project Coordinator (part-time, home-based from Spain) of a large European funded study entitled

“University Educators for Sustainable Development (UE4SD).” Developed the proposal and

coordinated the partnership of 55 universities in 33 countries. Management of budgets and

coordination with partners to deliver the different work packages. Coordination of partners’

research and development of professional development publications and resources. Coordination

and development of financial and activity reports for the European Commission.

2014 – 2015 University Sains Malaysia, Penang (Malaysia)

Visiting researcher and lecturer, UNU RCE Penang (United Nations recognised Regional Centre of

Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development) (Malaysia). Organised a professional

development webinar series for school teachers and managers to bring innovation into the primary

and secondary education curricula. Developed grant proposals and fundraised for educational

projects in primary and secondary education. Developed and contributed to academic publications

and pedagogical materials. As visiting lecturer, supervised student projects in education and

sustainability and facilitated capacity building and workshops for students and school teachers.

January 2012 – December 2014 COPERNICUS Alliance, Lüneburg (Germany)

Coordinator (part-time). Coordinated a European network of higher education for sustainable

development. Managed membership and budget. Brokered and nurtured partnerships with

international organisations (UNESCO, UNEP, UNU IAS, etc.). Created learning and research

opportunities for members. Organised a large number of teaching & learning and research events

on higher education for sustainable development.

August 2011 – July 2014 University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham (UK)

Public Engagement and Partnerships for Sustainability Coordinator (UNU RCE Severn Coordinator)

(part-time). Coordinated a local network of stakeholders from the education, business, government

and charity sectors. Created an internship scheme for students to gain first hand-experience in

leading organisations in sustainability in the region. Mentored students and developed creative

materials to show evidence of their learning. Developed communication materials and organized

over 50 learning seminars, workshops and forums.

Associate Researcher (part-time). Coordinated two UNESCO funded projects on Education for

Sustainable Development, cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. Reviewed international

policies, proposed indicators for policy improvement and collected good practice across the world.

Developed a UNESCO publication showcasing the research findings and recommendations and a

website featuring best practice in these areas.
