4D SOFT’s market interest

2

Budapest, 23 June

• 4D SOFT can connect professional testing and maintenance services and own tools through the using of ETICS together.

• In this way a unique complex service can be developed which seems to be very competitive, and on the other hand our products can be sold wrapping into a service.

target customer group

• Our first target group is our current partners, i.e. T Com and T Mobil. We have been working for T Mobil for years, and we can ease and accelerate our work.

• A complex service is going to be offered for IT SME-s, where ETICS infrastucture is available at 4D SOFT (or at an ETICS-based consortium if available). 4D SOFT offers a full service including building, testing and evaluating the customers' system.

a list of ETICS features considered unique selling point for the partner

• Since 4D SOFT has strong experience with testing we concentrate on ETICS testing features, though we also provide build, management and deployment automation.

• For us one of the key features is tool registration, that seems to be unique. Another advantage is our plugin generation, because for other continuous integration tools this feature is more complicated.

• We also use work flow manager to select registered tools for the entire build and testing process.

• We are going to integrate our own tools into ETICS by which we have a more complex service than our competitors.

• Tools to be integrated: Deeptest, Java instrumenter, Semantic Comparator, Test Selector and any available tools that execute test cases

a list of issues which may hinder the plans

• Our developers have found the GUI difficult to use – it should be improved, in addition a precise and complete user manual has to be written.

• The learning curve for ETICS was longer than for example for Hudson. It’s usage was more intuitive.

• ETICS should be easily deployed to the costumer’s machines by any ETICS member without having special system administration knowledge.

• Windows client is necessary.• To have a simplified version of ETICS services

just for local purposes for a simple user.

activities already performed

• We developed a sample project involving almost all the features ETICS has.

• This includes build, deploy, unit test with coverage, dynamic testing (and acceptance test planned)

• This is to be able to present ETICS for others in 4D SOFT and for our partners

future planned actions

Step1. To have our current ETICS development as a model project ('marketing' project), we use ETICS on our work in JRA2. We think this is the best approach to convince people showing them that we really apply it in our daily work.

Additionally, we are trying to do our best to have all the testing services in production as soon as possible.

Step2. After finishing the project, a whole ETICS installation will be done in our maschines (or following the aggrement between project members) together with the test services.

Step3.Presenting ETICS to our partners
