    REGION OVERVIEW

    The Gympie Region is located in South East Queensland, one of Australia's fastest growing regions.Gympie, the economic hub of the Gympie Region, is located 160 kilometres north of the State Capital,Brisbane and about a 40 minute drive north from Noosa.

    Gympie Regional Council came into being on 15 March 2008 following the amalgamation of the formerCooloola Shire, former Kilkivan Shire and Division 3 of the former Tiaro Shire.

    Gympie is a Region on the move with major infrastructure projects opening the door for growth anddevelopment. The Gympie Region is also blessed with an environment that is attractive to bothresidents and visitors alike. Here, we have an enviable life style and Council and residents working

    together to make this an area that we are proud to call home.

    There is an increasing emphasis placed on Council to plan for the future and implement decisions thatwill ensure the financial sustainability of this Council into the future. It takes a dedicated team of strongindividuals who are prepared to make difficult decisions to advance the Gympie Region and maintain afinancially sustainable Council.

    Council is committed to creating a climate for business growth, with increased number of businesses,

    expansion of existing local industry and effective marketing strategies.

    Significant progress has also been made with Gympie Region strategic planning. A number of planningstudies have been completed which will underpin the new planning scheme. A number of significantinfrastructure projects have also been completed or commenced.

    Responsibility: Provide leadership and co-ordinate departmental operations and performance.

    Responsibility: Ensure output is monitored and services provided in an efficient cost-effectivemanner.

    Criteria: Operational efficiency, service and output standards attained.

    Responsibility: Develop, maintain and review Council's corporate plan.

    Criteria: Corporate plan developed to Council's satisfaction.

    Responsibility: Develop and maintain organisation structures to achieve Council's objectives.

    Criteria: Organisational structure to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.

    Responsibility: Provide organisational change leadership and support.

    Criteria: Input level and effectiveness; actual achievement against planned.

    Responsibility: Ensure development and maintenance of appropriate systems, procedures and

    v) Public Relations Management

    Responsibility: Communicate and promote Council's policies to the community it serves.Criteria: Level of communication.

    Responsibility: Ensure services, communications and dealings of staff with the public andexternal bodies are of a high standard.

    Criteria: Customer satisfaction/complaints.

    (f) Whilst in full time employment with Council you may not undertake any other paidwork, unless approved by Council.

    3 Confidentiality(a) Any information and/or documentation relating to the business of Council, shall not

    be disclosed to anyone unless, authorised in writing to do so by the Council or asper legislation.

    4 Council Property(a) All property, including documents, of the Council remain the property of the

    Council, even though they may be retained in your possession as a consequenceof your employment duties. You may not borrow, lend or possess any Councilproperty unless authorised by the Council to do so. On termination of employmentany and all Council property in your possession is to be returned to the Council.

    SALARY AND CONDITIONSSCHEDULE B

    The final salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant, but the following can beused as a guide.

    Employment will be in accordance with a five (5) year performance based contract with options for renewal.
