Available to all EU SMEs, the Helpdesk co-operates with European SME networks, chambers of commerce and

Presenters Biography
Daniel VAN ASSCHE
Project Manager, Service for Foreign
Policy Instruments, European
Commission
Daniel joined the European Commission in external affairs in
2001.
He has also experience in relations with Asia at the European
External Action Service.
He joined the Foreign Policy Instrument Service in 2013, and has
since been working on business cooperation and environment.
Currently Daniel is project manager of Business Avenues in South
East Asia (Partnership Instrument) and desk officer for relations
with Japan and South Korea.
Alex SIOW
Singapore Sector Expert, Coaching
Network
Prof. Alex Siow is currently Professor (Practice) in the School of
Computing, NUS and concurrently Director of the Strategic
Technology Management Institute (STMI) and Director of the
Centre for Health Informatics.
Prior to the current appointment, Prof Alex was the Managing
Director, Health & Public Service at Accenture Pte Ltd. Alex
started his career as a Structural Engineer in the Housing &
Development Board in 1981 and rose through the ranks to
become the Chief Information Officer in 1989. In 2003, Alex joined
the private sector and became the Senior Vice-President in
StarHub Ltd. From 2005 to 2008, Alex was the Head, Business
Markets where he was responsible for Enterprise Sales. From
2008 to 2011, Alex was the CIO of StarHub and from 2011 to
2012, Alex was Head, Enterprise Risk Management.
Alex was very active in the IT Community. He was the President
of the Singapore Computer Society from 1997 to 2001. He was
the President of ITMA from 1995 to 1999. He was the first
President of the Singapore Chapter of the Project Management
Institute and served from 2001 to 2012. From 2001 to 2005, Alex
was the Chairman of the e-Learning Chapter of SiTF. He was the
Secretary General of the South East Asian Computer
Confederation from 2001 to 2002 and the Assistant Secretary
General of the Asian ICT Confederation from 2002 to 2005.
Alex is a Board member of Temasek Polytechnic and a member
of the Edusave Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the
Board of Trustees of the SIM University. In the past, he held
various board member positions in e-Cop Pte Ltd, National
Computer Board, Certis Cisco Pte Ltd, Cleantech Pte Ltd,
Science Centre Board and National Infocomm Competency
Centre.
In the community, Alex was the Chairman of the Aljunied
Kembangan Citizen’s Consultative Committee and member of the
Aljunied Town Council.
Thanachart NUMNONDA, Ph.D.
Thailand Sector Expert, Coaching
Network
Dr. Thanachart Numnonda is a president of the association of
Thai ICT industry. He is also a founder and executive director of
IMC Institute. Currently, he also holds many other position in both
public and private sectors. These include a member of council at
Ubon Ratchathani University, Chairman of SiamEast solutions
public company limited and an independent director at Vintcom
Technology public company limited and Humanica public
company limited.
Dr. Thanachart is a former director of Software Park Thailand
between October 2010 – December 2012. Prior to joining
Software Park Thailand, he was a business development director
of Sun Microsystems (Thailand) Ltd. Since 2005, he is
responsible for the software business. He has played a crucial
part in the development of Sun’s product lines and business
expansion in Thailand. He is also experienced in the IT
development of Thailand’s education sector. He was vice
president for planning and information technology at Khon Kaen
University, and acting project director of E-Saan Software Park.
He was an associate professor at the Department of Computer
Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, and
a lecturer to several universities.
Dr. Thanachart graduated in electrical engineering from Khon
Kaen University. He also holds a master’s degree and a PhD in
electrical engineering and electronics from University of
Auckland, New Zealand.
Philippe DELTOMBE
IPR SME Helpdesk
For 8 years, Philippe has been assisting start-ups and mid-sized
innovation players from Europe to China and to South East Asia.
He provides advices in areas ranging from IP protection strategy
to technology transfer assistance and contractual documents
negotiation. As a partner at AGM abogados and at DWP-AXT
Shanghai, Philippe speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and
German." Philippe joined Helpdesk in 2013.

Daniela CEDOLA
Coaching Network
Daniela is Senior Manager at PwC’s Accelerator, delivering
business consulting assistance to CEOs of fast-growing
innovative companies on diverse challenges such as
internationalisation, strategy, market analysis, market entry
strategy, business plan and business model definition.
She has consulted for the past years to Public Sector and Higher
Education clients. In Public Sector, her projects involved support
to SMEs, innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship, international
development, performance assessment, as well as policy
analysis in the scope of SMEs and competitiveness. For Higher
Education clients she worked mainly on aspects of operational
strategy, performance and internationalisation. Daniela is
currently serving as Deputy Programme Director for the Coaching
Network role of PwC on the EU Gateway programmes.
Prior to joining PwC, Daniela worked for 4 years as a Senior
Strategy Consultant for Accenture in London with a focus in the
Energy and Sustainability industry, having worked in several
projects for major oil and petrochemicals companies in alternative
energy, pricing, market analysis, strategy development and
market positioning. In addition to that she had three years’
experience as a marketing and business university lecturer.
Daniela graduated in Business Administration and obtained a
Master in Business Administration from FGV-EAESP, a top
business school in Brazil. She is fluent in English, Portuguese,
Italian and is proficient in French.
Jon ECHANOVE
Coaching Network
Jon is a versatile, highly qualified manager with more than 15
years professional experience, expert in the understanding and
assessment of legal and regulatory frameworks for market
access.
For the last 15 years, Jon Echanove has been leading
multicultural teams in Europe and Asia in industry associations,
EC projects and private organisations. Becoming an entrepreneur
and a pioneer introducing a new product in the Asian culture, has
offered him the possibility to complement his management
experience with direct knowledge on business planning, strategic
development and marketing for Asian consumers.
Involved in supporting the EU-ASEM Regulatory Dialogue,
contributing to capacity building programmes in the ASEAN
region and supporting the Philippines government for the last 4
years to increase trade flows and align their regulatory practices
with most countries of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC),
provided him with a thorough understanding of the main
intermediaries and legal and regulatory framework of the region.
A Master’s graduate and accredited executive coach, highly
knowledgeable about global organisations, Asian economies and
multi-stakeholders consultation and negotiation, Jon Echanove
has excelled in supporting leaders of intermediaries, corporate
and SMEs in understanding and adjusting to the challenges of
emerging markets.
Spanish by birth, Jon is based in Brussels traveling frequently to
Asia.
Tristan HOCKLEY
Coaching Network
Tristan is a Director within the PwC's South East Asian Consulting
(SEAC) practice. He has over 15 years professional services and
commercial experience in Australia, Asia and Europe, and has
been based in Singapore for over six years. Tristan has helped
both local and international companies enter and grow in the
Asian region across a variety of sectors. Tristan is also currently
working with the EU on trade and investment project in Indonesia.
Andrew Finnemore CAPON
Coaching Network
Andrew has more than 20 years’ experience consulting EU SMEs
on matchmaking and developing business partnerships in Asia
and the EU. Working in different sectors (healthcare/ medical
equipment, clean tech and food & beverage), he assisted SMEs
in screening local partners, matchmaking and legal contract
negotiations. Due to his longstanding experience in South East
Asia, he has a strong understanding of South East Asian business
challenges, the local culture and business environment and has a
good business contact network (chambers, lawyers, bankers,
Government Ministries, regulators, private companies etc.)
Andrew gained experience in business consultancy e.g. in Viet
Nam, where he assisted a German wind turbine manufacturer
with business development in Asia.
Andrew is holding a BA in Modern Languages and an MSc in
Finance, latter one obtained from London Business School in
1998. He is British. Besides his mother tongue English, he speaks
fluent French, German and Spanish and intermediate Italian and
Chinese.
Kathrin HELMINGER
Coaching Network
Kathrin is a Senior Advisor at PwC’s Accelerator and EU Gateway
programme. At PwC’s Accelerator, her missions consist of
assisting fast growing technology companies to internationalize
through identifying and matchmaking them with potential
business partners as well as providing coaching to the companies
to improve their presence on the market.
Prior to joining PwC’s Accelerator, Kathrin was introduced to the
tech industry 3 years ago by working for a Venture Capital firm in
Luxembourg, Mangrove Capital Partners, where she assisted in
finding startups for potential investment. She then worked at the
Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in San Francisco,
helping fast growing companies set up their businesses in
Europe. She later joined the innovation lab of BNP Paribas in San
Francisco, called L’Atelier, as a Digital Analyst. Kathrin had the
opportunity to be a special manager for the main clients of the
bank, where she advised clients on how to accelerate their
business through the implementation of new market trends or
partnership with innovative startups depending on the their needs
and concerns.
Kathrin holds a B.Sc. in Business Management with Marketing
from Royal Holloway University of London and studied in parallel
Arabic at the American University of Sharjah and at King’s
College. In addition to having studied Arabic, Kathrin is fluent in
Luxembourgish, French, German and English.
Martin HAAS
Coaching Network
Martin is a consultant skilled in Business Administration and Risk
Management. His background combining a Master degree in
Management and a military training as a French officer gave him
the global skills to understand the clients’ needs and to support
them in turning challenges into business opportunities. His
previous experience in Mexico and Paris in the field of consulting
strengthened his ability to work on business continuity issues in
an international scope.
