Presentation Notes
Talking about the past, firstly I’d like to present librarain proffesion evolution at glance . During previous centuries librararians were thought as a:... Living encyclopaedia – asking librarian who is the author of „the Judgment” he always knew: - Franz Kafka, what does ... Mean? He knew. There are information professionals who only take care of document storage, their all activity is limited to collecting and clasyfying (documents) information. I mean that they too often focus on materials instead of people whom they should serve. It is of course inadmissible Hapily, it is rarely phenomenon (but sometimes occurs) Librarian are very often regarded as: Boring and obsolete profession Related to books, newspapers, bibliographies, catalogs - many librarians responded slowly to new information technologies Low salary occupation Not attractive for young people - as someone who likes books strong enuough to be a librarian (deovted their lives to books) By the way... Library Joke: Four surgeons were taking a coffee break and were discussing their work. The first one said, "I think accountants are the easiest to operate on. Everything inside is numbered.„ The second surgeon said, "I prefer to operate on electricians. All their organs are color coded." The third one said, "I like to operate on lawyers. They're heartless, spineless, gutless, and their head and ass are interchangeable." the fouth one said: „I think librarians are the easiest," said the second surgeon. "When you open them up all their organs are alphabetically ordered."

...This conjuncture doesn’t persist eternal. After explosion of information and the Internet appearing people realized that someone should subjugate such amount of information. There is no need creating new profession while librarians exist. Today’s librarian occupation meaning have changed, one of the reason is amount of information and its development of its carriers. I can say tkat LIS profession come out of the shadow. Today’s Librarian is a person who has knowledge: 1. how to managing information regardless of its form 2. How to find almost every information in every information space 3. Use strategies giving the best searching results, because of appriopriate search term applying 4. Investigate users’ searching behaviour while they use information system Definition of L: a professionally trained person responsible for the care of library and its contents, including the selection, processing, and organization of materials and the delivery of information, instruction, and loan services to meet the need of its users.

LATCH : THE FIVE ULTIMATE HATRACKS

The ways of organizing information are finite. It can only beorganized by location, alphabet, time, category, or hierarchy.
