1Introduction

This Infor BI release includes these Infor products and components:

Infor BI Application Studio, Application Studio WebServicesApplication Studio is a reporting tool specialized for multidimensional data sources, such as Infor BIOLAP Server or Infor CPM Applications and Microsoft Analysis Services. Application Studio can alsoconnect to relational data sources. WebServices displays Application Studio reports on the web.See Application Studio Advanced Help installed with Application Studio.See Application Studio Tutorial in the Documentation folder of the installation media.

Infor BI Office Plus for Microsoft Office ExcelOffice Plus which is an Excel client offers an ad-hoc browser that enables users to navigate throughtheir model in an intuitive way. In Office Plus, users can design the OLAP model. Users can createand edit cubes, dimensions and subsets, or manage the permission on the model. Database registrationscan be stored through Database Aliases, enabling users thus to profit from a standardized reportingenvironment. Infor BI Office Plus offers users access to a repository where reports can be stored inan advanced folder structure. Reports can also be saved locally to the file system. Those reports arenot accessible by other users who connect to the same repository.Infor BI Office Plus is available in both 32-bit versions and a 64-bit version, with Limitations.See the Office Plus Tutorial in the Documentation folder of the installation media. The tutorial has twoparts. The first part (Sessions 1-5) describes how to create, edit and convert ad-hoc reports. Thesecond part (Sessions 6-8) describes how to create an example of a complex, dynamic, formula report, using MDX.

Infor BI Office Plus for Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office PowerPointOffice Plus integration is an add-in to Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office PowerPoint installedby individual users on their computer. The add-in can insert data blocks from an Application Studioreport into a Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint document.

Infor BI OLAP ServerInfor BI OLAP Server provides in-memory multidimensional business data for reporting, analysis, andplanning. The OLAP Server database is purely an 'in-memory' database. That is, at run time, all therequired data is kept in memory. This contributes to the excellent performance of the OLAP Server.See the Infor BI OLAP Administration Guide.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 15

Page 16: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

Infor BI DesignerDesigner can connect to various data sources through multiple interfaces. Use Designer to designmultidimensional OLAP Server databases. Designer stores the model description in a relationaldatabase, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, and automatically creates the multidimensional OLAPServer databases from that description.

You can also use DataLinks, a meta-data layer technology, to build a staging database from which adata cube is created.

Infor Dashboards and Infor Motion DashboardsDashboards enable you to display multiple Application Studio reports and web content in widgets ina web browser, on an iPhone or iPad, or on an Android device. The widgets can be resized andrepositioned to create attractive dashboard layouts.

Infor BI RepositoryThe Repository is the User-, Security- and Report-Catalog management system for Application Studio,Office Plus, Designer and OLAP Server. Repository is part of each Application Studio, Office Plus, and Designer installation and can be administered with Infor BI Repository Administrator Console.

Infor BI Samples including BI Best Practices Templates and Tutor ModelsThe Best Practices model covers the whole process of developing an Infor BI application: Starting withraw data of a customer's sample database and then extracting and transforming data from that databaseto build a data model, using Infor BI Designer. It covers creating an Infor BI OLAP Server Serverdatabase with predefined dimensions and cubes for sales, cost and finance analysis and visualizingthe data with Infor BI Application Studio in reports for analysis, data entry and even a dashboard basedon that OLAP Server database.See also Infor BI Samples Guide in the Documentation folder.

Infor BI AnalyzerAnalyzer is a suite of analyses which enable you to expose relationships and trends in data. Theanalyses are connected by context. That is, within each analysis are options to navigate to otherswhich, as you do so, inherit the selections of the previous analysis. In this way you can explore yourdata, from a variety of starting points, without stopping to change or reselect parameters.See Infor BI Analyzer User Guide in the Documentation folder.

Infor BI ImportMasterImportMaster automatically extracts, consolidates, validates and imports data from different operationalsource systems into the multidimensional structures of an OLAP database.

Infor BI DeltaMinerDeltaMiner is a tool for analyzing complex business relationships. DeltaMiner offers multipletried-and-true analytic methods that automate the process of analyzing large data volumes.

Infor BI DataLink ServerThe DataLink Server product line puts complex ad-hoc querying and reporting into the hands ofnon-technical users. DataLink Server users can construct complex business intelligence visualizationsfrom their corporate data, using only their domain knowledge.

3Supported data providers

Infor BI can connect to a variety of data sources.

EXASolution supportApplication Studio and Office Plus support XMLA connections to Exasol EXASolution databases.

LimitationsIn both Application Studio and Office Plus, these features are not supported:

• No intrinsic context-sensitive member properties• The conditions 'contains' and 'does not contain' are not supported in filters of type 'String'• Filtering with wildcards and regular expressions is not supported• Writeback is not supported• Cell calculations in Office Plus ad-hoc reports are not supported• KPIs are not supported

Infor BI OLAP Server supportXMLASupport for Infor BI OLAP Server version 10.3.0 and above is provided through the XMLA provider andthrough a native connection. Support for both connections is installed automatically with ApplicationStudio and Office Plus.

The XMLA service is integrated into the OLAP Server installation. Connection to OLAP Server isprovided through a URL.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 27

Page 28: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

The XMLA connection method to connect to OLAP Server supports a certified connection using https. To ensure that the OLAP Server can be accessed by a client, a valid certificate must be available onthe machine. Setup creates a certificate for the target machine during installation called ”self-signed”certificate.

Note: The certificates, olap_root.pem and olap_server.pem, are saved to: C:\ProgramData\Infor\BI\OLAP\certificates. Direct access to this location is limited.

XMLA communication uses these ports:

port 8211 [default]httpsOLAP Communication Manager

port 8210 only with localhost (127.0.0.1) connectionhttp

port 8213 [default]httpsOLAP Database

port 8212 only with localhost (127.0.0.1) connectionhttp

The OLAP Server increases the port number for each OLAP database which starts.

Infor CPM Applications supportSupport for Infor CPM Applications Relational in Application Studio and Office Plus is provided throughthe XMLA Provider.

4 Follow the configuration steps for Q&A Evolve within the Designer Connections page.

Essbase supportXMLA connections to Essbase data sources are supported, with some limitations:

Unsupported functionalityEssbase does not support this functionality:

• Writeback• Session members (calculated elements)• Filtering by regular expression or by wildcard

Fully qualified domain namesFunctions that depend on hierarchy unique name forming part of the element unique name are notsupported. Examples are CELLGET and CELL.GETC

Intrisic element propertiesEssbase supports only these intrinsic element properties:

• LEVEL_NUMBER• MEMBER_CAPTION• MEMBER_NAME• MEMBER_TYPE• MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME• MEMBER_ALIAS• GEN_NUMBER

Lack of support for other intrinsic element properties, such as CHILDREN_CARDINALITY can adverselyaffect performance because additional MDX requests are required in order to get the properties.

Other propertiesThese properties are not supported, which adversely affects the performance of Office Plus OfficePlus ad-hoc reports:

• MDDISPINFO_DRILLED_DOWN• MDDISPINFO_SAME_PARENT_AS_PREV

DISPLAY_INFO returns only the number of children of an element.

Value data typesAll values are treated as numbers because Essbase does not specify value data types.

Unique name filteringFiltering by these criteria does not fail but may produce unexpected results:

• MEMBER_CAPTION• MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME

4Infor BI Office Plus for Microsoft OfficeExcel

Infor BI Office Plus is integrated with Microsoft Office Excel and enables users to access, analyze andmanipulate business data. It supports various multidimensional databases.

To use Office Plus you need a repository and a data provider (for example Infor BI OLAP Server). Youconnect to a repository through a repository registration. The registration must be created on eachclient machine.

See "Creating a repository registration" on page 75.

Three Office Plus setup files are included. The All-in-One setup automatically selects the correct setup. If you install from the single setups, you must select the correct setup depending on your OS and theversion of Microsoft Office Excel.

Caution: If you use a 64-bit version of Microsoft Office, the 64-bit version of Office Plus isinstalled. The 64-bit version of Office Plus has limitations.See "Office Plus limitations" on page 32.

Due to compatibility issues between versions of Microsoft Office, we recommend that you use version2007 or later for all versions if you run Office Plus in a multi-client environment.

Note: During installation, Office Plus checks for the presence of VBA, a shared Microsoft componentreferenced by Microsoft Office Excel.

Caution: Installation or removal of Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office, MicrosoftProject and Microsoft Visio, can disrupt the link between Microsoft Office Excel and VBA. If so,Office Plus will install but will not run. Repair Microsoft Office Excel and ensure that VBA isselected.

These are the features and subfeatures which can be installed from the Office Plus setup:

OLAP SplasherThe Splasher is a feature of the Infor BI Modeling Integration. When writing to parent cells of a cube, splashing refers to the distribution of values to the underlying leaf cells, according to a variety of rules.Without the Splasher you can write back only to leaf cells themselves, from within Alea Ad-hoc reportsand from Alea Formula reports.

When you enter the URL of the Dashboards server, your Windowscredentials are passed to the server and you can access the repositories on that server. But Windowswill not then pass your credentials to a further server, with the result that any remote repositories areinaccessible.

A workaround involves using the Kerberos authentication system and configuring the web server (forexample, the Dashboards server) as trusted for delegation.

Note: Windows Authentication requires WINS protocol to be enabled in the network. Ensure thatNETBIOS and WINS over TCP can be established in the domain. By default, the installation for WindowsServer 2012 do not have WINS enabled.

Infor Federation ServicesIf users navigate to Application Studio WebServices from another Infor application, they are logged onautomatically. Otherwise, they enter their Infor user name and password to log on to Application StudioWebServices.

See "Authentication" on page 160 for further details on authentication systems.

Safari supportWith some limitations, Application Studio WebServices supports the Safari browser on devices whichrun iOS 7 (iPad) and on OS X (Mac).

On iOS 7, the limitations are:

• Kerberos authentication is not supported• Cell notes and comments are not supported• The Web user interface is not available for the Scheduled Task Manager (Microsoft Silverlight-based

components are not supported by Safari).

10Infor BI Designer

Designer is the bottom layer of the Infor BI platform. With Designer, you use a relational database (SQLServer or Oracle) to design and create multidimensional Infor BI OLAP Server databases.

See "Introduction" on page 15.

Note: Infor BI Repository Administration and the Infor BI OLAP Server core components are prerequisitesfor installing Designer.

After you have installed Designer you must create a registration to an existing Designer database.Ensure that the client machine is configured with the required database provider, SQL Server or Oracle.

Note: You must log on with a user who is the user management administrator and the repositoryadministrator. Only those OLAP Server permission managements are displayed whose users have theOLAP Server administrator permission. To avoid problems when connecting to and working with theDesigner repository database, we recommend that you map the log-on information for the SQL Serverdatabase that is used in the Designer repository connection string to the dbo user.

11Infor BI Analyzer

Analyzer is a suite of analyses which enable you to expose relationships and trends in data.

The installation places an Application Studio content file in Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\Analyzer which can be imported to any existing Application Studio repository. The file is namedAnalyzer.app_reports.

Use the Application Studio Import Application Component feature to import the Analyzer.app_reports:

1 Right-click the root of the report catalog and select Export/Import > Import Application Component.2 Browse to the application component and click Open.3 If there is existing content, a message warns that any changes you have made to the existing content

since it was imported will be overwritten. Click Yes to continue.4 Click OK when prompted that the import was successful.

The import adds a report called Analyzer Home, and a subfolder called Analyzer, to the Reports Folder.

In Application Studio content files are assigned a version number. Versioning prevents you from installingcontent which is older than the existing content. The version of the current content is displayed in theProperties pane of the Analyzer folder and of the Analyzer Home report.

To update the Analyzer content you must import a valid version of a new content file. This overwritesthe existing content.

12Infor BI Application Engine

The Infor BI Application Engine and Application Engine Process Editor are installed with ApplicationStudio. In Application Studio, Application Engine Process Editor processes can be triggered throughan Application Engine process action.

See the Infor BI Application Engine User Guide.

Integration with RThe R Project (R), is an open-source environment for statistical calculations. Infor is not associatedwith the project in any way. You can find further information at http://www.r-project.org/.

You can embed programs written in R directly in a process by using the Application Engine ProcessEditor. Run the process by the Application Engine.

There are two ways of integrating R with the Application Engine. You can embed the R interpreterdirectly as a library or you can run a service that offers R functionality via a network interface.

Embedding RIf you embed R, complete these steps on each machine on which the Application Engine is running:

1 Install R from http://mirrors.softliste.de/cran/bin/windows/base/old/2.15.3/

Note: If you install R in a 64bit environment, ensure that you enable both 32bit and 64bit support.

2 Specify registry entries to tell the Application Engine where to find your installation of R. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Infor\BI\Application Engine specify the paths to the Rinstallation directory and to the directory containing the R binaries. The registry entries and their typical values:

• R32INSTPATH=C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3

• R32BIN=C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3\bin\i386

• R64INSTPATH=C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 65

Page 66: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

• R64BIN=C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3\bin\x64

Note: Specify the two R64 or R32 values appropriate to your environment.

Running R as a serviceAfter you have installed R, you can use the R console to install the RServe server.

We recommend that you run the service outside the R environment.

To run R as a service:

1 Install R from http://mirrors.softliste.de/cran/bin/windows/base/old/2.15.3/

Note: If you install R in a 64bit environment, ensure that you enable both 32bit and 64bit support.

2 Start the R console and run this statement: install.packages("Rserve").3 Select the nearest download location.4 Test RServe by running these statements:

• library(Rserve)

• Rserve()

5 If necessary unblock the R service port in the Windows firewall.6 To run the service outside the R environment, copy the Rserve executables from your Documents

folder to the R installation's bin directory. The location of the executables is typically:

• 64bit: Users\username\Documents\R\win-library\2.15\Rserve\libs\x64• 32bit: Users\username\Documents\R\win-library\2.15\Rserve\libs\i386

The location of the bin directory is typically:

• 64bit: C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3\bin\x64• 32bit C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.3\bin\i386

Note: Both executable files start a single Rserve instance. Rserve_d starts the instance in thebackground.

7 Configure Rserve by using Rserv.cfg in the current working directory. All configuration options are explained at: http://www.rforge.net/Rserve/doc.html

Note: You cannot use a single Rserve instance with more than one client. To run processes inparallel, launch a separate Rserve instance using a different port or IP address for each process. Two processes must not access the same Rserve instance.

A repository registration is required to connect to Infor BI Office Plus and Infor BI Application Studio.Create repository registrations in Infor BI Repository Administration. You can export registrations andimport them to other machines, through the Log On dialog boxes of Office Plus and Application Studio. You do not need to install Repository Administration on each client machine.

When you install Application Studio, Repository Administration is always installed. It is optional whenyou install OLAP Server.

Features and subfeaturesFrom the Infor BI Repository Administration setup, you can install these features and subfeatures:

Software Development KitAPIs and code samples for working with the Repository. The samples address custom logging, thecreation of single sign-on (SSO) providers, and querying the metadata stored in the Repository.

Repository Registration ServiceBy default, the list of repositories available to a client application is stored in a configuration file. Theconfiguration file is stored on the local file system. The configuration file contains the repositories and the connection information for each repositoryregistration to access the repository database on the database server. You manage the configurationfile in Repository Administration under General Settings > Configurations > Sources. In multi-tenant environments, a central method of managing repository registrations is required. Thisis provided by the Repository Registration Service which can be hosted on a central system. TheRepository Registration Service maintains repository registrations for all tenants. If you install the Repository Registration Service, you must add the service as a configuration sourcein Repository Administration. See "Adding the Repository Registration Service as a configurationsource" on page 74.

Installing Infor BI DataLink ServerThis chapter describes the installation process for each server component and any requiredpre-configuration or post-configuration. All server components can be installed individually or as agroup from the installer.

Installing DataLink ServerThe DataLink Server Server installation deploys the central database (an SQL Server database to storeits runtime configuration), Web Services, and administration utilities. Installation must be performed onthe Server which will host the Web Services. That is, the server that has the Web Server Role installed.

Before you continue, you must ensure that:

• You are a member of the Local Administrators Group• You are an SQL Server user with Public and DBCreator security roles• You must create a suitable service user under which the server will run.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 87

This user must be a member of the machine's Local Administrators Group and have valid Windowscredentials to log on to the SQL Server where the database is installed.

• The user must have both the Public and DBCreator security roles.• If printing tasks are used that will print to domain printers, then the user must also be a domain

user with access to those printers.

To install the DataLink Server:

1 Click the DataLink Server setup link in the Infor BI installation DVD.2 On the welcome screen, click Next. The Setup Type dialog box is displayed.3 Select Complete and click Next. The IIS App Pool Identity dialog box is displayed.4 Fill in the account details of the created Windows user and click Next. The DataLink Server Server

Database dialog box is displayed.5 Fill in this information:

a Database server that you are installing to: Server name and instance name to install to. TheDatabase server must be on the physical machine on which you are running the installer.

b Connect using: Specify the database credentials you use to connect to the database. Thesecredentials are used by the installer to create the DataLink Server server database. To connectusing the Windows login currently undertaking the installation, select Windows Authentication.Otherwise specify the credentials of a SQL Server login. The credentials must have DBCreateand Public security roles.

c Name of database catalog: Name of the DataLink Server server database. If this database doesnot currently exist, then it is created. Database administrators can, therefore, pre-create thedatabase if there are specific attributes (such as physical file locations) that are required.

6 Click Next to confirm the installation.7 Click Finish to proceed with the installation.

Migrating Q&A 10.x settings (optional)Note: Before proceeding, it is important to verify that the DataLink Server has been correctly installed and isworking before performing this task. To verify the server status, check that the DataLink ServerAdministration Utility runs without errors.

After successful installation of the DataLink Server database, you can copy compatible settings fromthe existing Q&A 10.x system for use in DataLink Server.

These settings will be transferred:

• Users• DataLink connection information• User allocations• Serialization information

You must ensure these requirements:

88 | Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide

Infor BI DataLink Server installation

Page 89: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

• Q&A 10.x configuration database must be in SQL Server• Q&A 10.x configuration database credentials• DataLink Server database credentials

At the end of the migration process, the IIS Server must be stopped and restarted. This will not onlyprevent connections to the DataLink Server, but also to any other web applications being hosted onthe same IIS instance. Therefore, ensure that the process is undertaken during a maintenance windowto prevent the interruption of service to users.

To migrate settings from Q&A 10.x to DataLink Server:

1 Run the installed Migration Utility. The Migration wizard Welcome Screen is displayed.2 Follow the on-screen instructions and click Next. The Database Connections screen is displayed.3 Fill in the locations and credentials of the Q&A 10.x and DataLink Server databases.

The status of the migration is displayed.6 After the migration has completed, click Close to exit the Migration wizard.7 From the command line, restart the DataLink Server with the iisreset command.

You have now successfully migrated your settings from Q&A Server 10.x to DataLink Server.

Installing BI DataLink Server DataLinkThis step is required to create a connection from the DataLink Server to a product for which reportsrequire to be written. If settings were migrated from DataLink Server 10.x, then this step is unnecessaryas the configuration and DataLink will already have been set within the DataLink Server database.

This step must be performed on the server that hosts the DataLink Server services and cannot beperformed remotely.

Note: DataLink installation forces the DataLink Server to restart to pick up the new configuration. It isimportant to only install a new DataLink when the system is not being used.

If no migration has been performed, or a new DataLink needs to be installed, then follow these steps:

1 Select Programs and features from the Windows Control Panel application.2 Locate and select the DataLink Server in the list of programs, and then select the Change action.

The DataLink Server installer is displayed in maintenance mode.

3 Click Modify.4 When prompted, click one of these:

Updating the Database SchemaThe Repository is based on a relational database which holds the user management, permissionmanagement and report content for Infor BI. You administer the Repository in Infor BI RepositoryAdministration (select Start > All Programs > Infor Business Intelligence > RepositoryAdministration).

Note: In MIS DecisionWare, the Repository was called "Common Object Store".

When you install Infor BI, the Repository database is not updated automatically. In such cases, youhave to update the database schema of your existing repositories manually.

The Infor BI Release Notes list the supported database schemas per version.

Note: To be compatible with software components of different versions at the same time, the Repositorycan hold different database schema versions of the database.

You can update the database schema while logging on to the Repository from within RepositoryAdministration, Application Studio and Office Plus.

A message informs you that an outdated schema is found. The message displays the schema versionfound and the version required.

To update the database, click Yes.

In the next step, select the update script. The default path for the script will be shown automatically.Click OK to start the update script and update the database schema (this can take a while).

The structure for the relational tables and stored procedures in the Repository database must beexpanded because of changed or improved functionality. To be compatible with previous version youcan manage different database schema versions of the Repository database.

This table shows the Infor BI software and the corresponding Repository database schema. For example,Infor BI OLAP Server requires, at a minimum, Repository database schema version 1.3.

Activating Database InterfacesWhen using several Infor BI programs of different versions, different database schema versions canbe required for these programs. The repository can support several database schemas, by offeringdatabase interfaces that can communicate with these schemas.

Note: When you use the database update offered by the repository logon, a new database interfaceis added without removing previous interfaces. The previous and the current interfaces are enabled.

You can enable and disable database interface versions in the Database Interfaces dialog box. Toopen the dialog box, right-click the repository registration in the Infor BI Repository Administrationconsole and select All Tasks > Database Interfaces.

Select an interface version to enable or disable and click Enable or Disable.

Example:To update Infor BI OLAP Server to version 10.4, database interface 1.12 for the OLAP Server is required. If you created reports with Application Studio 10.3.0 but do not want to update them to 10.4, databaseinterface 1.10 is required. If you are sure that all running Infor BI products are based on the same database interface, you candisable older database interfaces to conserve memory.

General considerations

Page 102: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

Limitations on mixing Repository schema versionsYou can activate several interfaces in a repository and so mix software versions on one repository:

Example 1: Keep an older OLAP software version and update Application Studio

Example 2: Update OLAP software version but keep an older Application Studio version

Both OLAP and Application Studio installations install Repository Administration and either could beused to edit all objects in the repository.

Note: It is important that you use the correct repository administration.

In the case of Example 1:

• Use the older Repository Administration, installed by the OLAP setup, to edit the OLAP settings inthe repository

• Use Repository Administration, installed with newer Application Studio installations to edit ApplicationStudio settings in the repository.

In the case of Example 2:

• Use the newer Repository Administration to edit OLAP settings• Use the older Repository Administration of Application Studio to edit Application Studio settings.

Note: If you do not use the older Repository Administration of Application Studio, you might makesettings which Application Studio does not interpret correctly. Some settings can be set in the ApplicationStudio full client and in Repository Administration. This risks conflicts and can corrupt the repository ina way which prevents future repository schema updates.

Updating Office Plus and OLAPIn Infor Business Intelligence the combined Office Plus and OLAP Server setup of previous releaseshas been separated into two setups.

If Office Plus and OLAP Server 10.1 have been installed on the same machine, we recommend thatyou use the all-in-one setup to update.

Note:

• The OLAP Server 10.3 and 10.4 setups will uninstall Office Plus 10.1.• The Office Plus 10.3 and 10.4 setups will uninstall OLAP Server 10.1.

2Infor BI OLAP Server

Migrating OLAP databasesThere is a new file format for OLAP databases from version 10.6.0.

Migrating OLAP databases of versions ranging from 5.x to 10.5.xFrom version 5.x to version 10.5.x the databases are converted automatically while loading the cubesand dimensions. The new file format requires several changes, which you cannot roll back. We stronglyrecommend that you back up your database before loading it in the current version ofInfor BI OLAPServer.

Existing repositories that hold the OLAP Permission Managements have to be updated.

See "Updating the Database Schema" on page 100.

Migrating OLAP databases of versions earlier than 5.xTo upgrade an OLAP database of an earlier version, contact Infor Xtreme Support to guide you throughthe process.

Reserved strings for element namesOLAP Server has some reserved strings that conflict with strings in other places if used as elementnames.

Before you migrate from the OLAP Server version 10.4.x or earlier, ensure that you rename any elementname that matches any of these strings:

• B:*• C:*

Note: Starting with version 10.5.0, OLAP Server does not allow creating elements with any of thenames mentioned earlier. The OLAP Server does not load existing dimensions that match these elementnames.

Page 104: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

Changed cube rule syntaxIn a cube rule you can specify whether base cells, consolidated cells or all cells are affected by therule. Prior to version 10.3.0 you could prefix a rule with B: or C: or use the Basic Cells or ConsolidatedCells options in the Edit Cube Rule dialog. In the current version, you can only specify the affectedcells in the Edit Cube Rule dialog.

Prior to version 10.3.x, you could use the STET function with brackets within IF clauses. For example:IF(condition, value STET()).

In the current version, you must omit the brackets. For example IF(condition, value STET).

Logging to relational databasesInfor BI OLAP Server can log cell changes to a relational database.

Prior to version 10.3.1, only Microsoft SQL Server was supported as a target database.

From version 10.3.1, you can write the changes to SQL Server, MySQL or to Oracle.

If you used this feature in a version prior to 10.3.1 and want to continue using it with SQL Server, change the connection string to this syntax:

DRIVER={SQL Server}; SERVER=<computer_name>; Trusted_Connection=Yes;DATABASE=Alealog;

3Infor BI Application Studio

Since version 10.1.4 you can install newer versions of Application Studio without first manuallyuninstalling previous versions. We recommend that you manually uninstall versions older than 10.1.4before installing a newer version of the software. Specify the same installation path as was used forprevious installations to save the specific settings of Application Studio WebServices. The currentApplication Studio standard installation directory is:

Program Files\Infor\BI\Application Studio

The default installation path of Application Studio WebServices is:

Program Files\Infor\BI\Application Studio\WebServices

These paths differ from the standard installation paths in all previous versions such as 10.1.3, 10.1.4,etc. The setups for version 10.1.3 and earlier did not save the selected installation path, therefor youhave to specify the path during installation of the current version. You can change the default installationpath in the Installation Wizard of the setup. From version 10.1.4, the installation path is saved. Whenupdating to the current version, you do not have to specify the path manually.

Before installing the new version, backup any modified or added ASWS files (for example, aspx pages, html pages, etc.) that are not part of the standard Application Studio WebServices installation.

Scripting ChangesInfor BI Application Studio introduces several changes that are not backward compatible.

See the Scripting help under Start > Programs > Infor BI > Tools > Documentation > ApplicationStudio > Application Studio Scripting Help English.

Version historyYou can maintain a version history in Application Studio, by storing versions of a report. The versionhistory helps you to follow the changes in your reports and, if required, to restore older versions.

Note: The update process does not update older versions of a report, which are stored in the versionhistory. This means that you cannot restore versions of a report, which were created before the update.

ReportsPrint settings that are related to folders in earlier releases of Application Studio are migrated automaticallyto report books in Application Studio.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 105

Since version 10.3.0, Report Manager (REM) jobs and folder printing were not supported.

To print a folder, you must create a corresponding report book. Report Manager jobs are notautomatically converted. Instead, you can import REM jobs, and convert them into scheduled tasks.

In the migration process, only those reports of a print folder that were selected to be printed are addedto the report book. The report books that result from the conversion contain the same print settings,as the folder print settings. For example, page layout, header and footer. The report books appear inthe print wizard in the web, where the folders were shown previously.

Note: Folders are no longer shown in the print wizard.

Report links are migrated into the report books.

To convert folders that have no print settings automatically, right-click a folder and select New ReportBook.

The resulting report book contains all reports and report links. For all the parameters, the selection ispreset to <current element>.

See the Infor BI Application Studio Help for further information.

Display report when Report Catalog opensIn Application Studio you can specify that the last used report, or a specific report, is displayed whenthe report catalog opens. Or, you can specify that no report is displayed. This choice is saved in Settingsof the Report Catalog in Infor BI Repository Administration.

Converted 10.1.6 repositories apply the Last used report setting if no start report is specified.Newly created 11.0.0 repositories will apply None by default. You must change this setting manuallyif you want the same behavior as in 10.1.6.

The 'last used report' setting only works reliably when using one repository with one report catalog.

Starting conversion from Log on dialog boxTo start the conversion from the Log on dialog box:

1 Start Application Studio.2 Log on to the repository as a user with administrative privileges on the repository.

During the Log on the database schema version is checked. If necessary, the schema update willstart.See "Updating the Database Schema" on page 100.After logging on and a successful update of the database schema proceed to the next step.

3 Select a project and report catalog to connect to.4 Click Connect.5 The correct report version is checked and, if required, the Application Studio Repository Conversion

Wizard is started.

Checking in all objectsThe Repository Conversion Wizard can only update reports successfully when all objects are checkedin to the repository. After the update of the database schema, the Conversion Wizard checks forchecked-out objects and offers a forced check-in.

Checked-out objects can be administered from within the Repository Administration. The advantageis that you can choose for which objects you want to undo the check-out, and where you want tocheck-in changes.

To check in all objects:

1 Open Infor BI Repository Administration.2 Connect to the repository, using a user with administration rights to the repository.3 Right-click the repository and select All Tasks/Pending Operations.

The Pending Operations dialog box shows all checked-out objects for each user.In Pending Operations dialog box you can see whether some actions are not yet finished, and whichuser has checked out which objects. Select all items and click the green check mark to accept allchanges and check in the objects. You can undo check-out. This results in losing all changes since the last check-in. If the repositoryis large, checking in all objects can take some time.

Using the Application Studio Repository ConversionWizardTo use the Conversion Wizard:

1 Select Start > Programs > Infor Business Intelligence > Tools > Application Studio RepositoryConversion to start the wizard to convert your reports from version 5.2 or higher. To migrate from 4.1, 5.0, or 5.1 contact Infor Support.

Updating (installing to the same folder)Note: Settings can be lost when you change the default installation path. While updating, the defaultpath will be remembered. A new install does not keep the installation path.

If a previous web application (10.1.4 or later) is created with Application Studio WebServices expert, the web application is updated.

You must reconfigure the web application:

• If you are configuring a web manually.• After an uninstall.• After an installation in a newly created folder.• After an update over an installation older than 10.1.4.

Remove the web application in IIS manager and create a new web application with the same name, using Webservices Expert.

Keep the existing web application and its virtual directoryUninstalling or updating Application Studio does not remove existing Application Studio web applicationsfrom Internet Information Services if you manually configured web services. However, the setup removesthe 'temp' folder under Program Files\Infor\BI\Application Studio\WebServices. If it isremoved, all settings on the folder are lost and must be reconfigured after installation of the newApplication Studio WebServices version.

Since version 10.1.4, you can install newer versions of Application Studio without first manuallyuninstalling previous versions. We recommend that you manually uninstall versions older than 10.1.4before installing a newer version. However, some settings will be reset to their defaults.

Note: Since Infor PM 10.1.5, the default installation path for Application Studio is: Program Files\Infor PM\Application Studio

This path differs from earlier versions. If you have chosen to keep your Application Studio web applicationand you are updating an earlier version, select the original installation path in the Installation Wizardwhen you select the program features to install.

4Infor BI Office Plus for Microsoft OfficeExcel

In Infor BI Office Plus, two MIS products were merged: Excel Integration for MIS Alea and MIS Plain.

We brought the strengths of both products and brought them together in Office Plus.

Office Plus is a repository-centered application. The Infor BI Repository, formerly known as CommonObject Store (COS), stores the user management, the data connections, and global reports. Clientusers connect to the Repository where all required server connections, reports and views are available.

Local and Global ReportsOffice Plus can save reports to the Repository and to the file system.

In the Report Catalog pane, a folder in the file system is represented by the Local Reports folder. TheGlobal Reports folder represents a report catalog in the repository.

You can create folder structures in both folders.

Report CatalogInfor BI Office Plus requires a Report Catalog. The report catalog can store formula reports, ad-hocreports, and Alea ad-hoc reports. You can apply permissions to the folders and reports using theRepository's permission management.

The repository's permission management applies only to the reports saved in the Global Reports folderand cannot be used on reports stored in the Local Reports folder.

See the Office Plus help or Repository help.

This document describes how to configure an Office Plus environment with a central repository andhow to migrate existing MIS Plain and MIS Alea Excel integration projects to Office Plus.

Database AliasesIn a repository project connection to the multidimensional databases is through database aliases. Thedatabase aliases contain all information required to connect to the database.

• Provider• Server• Database• Authentication

Office Plus supports these multidimensional databases:

• Infor BI OLAP Server• InforCPM Relational• Analysis Services

Each client that connects to the project will find the same database aliases and can double-click toconnect to the database.

Configuring a server-client environmentThis chapter describes how to configure a fresh Office Plus environment.

In such a server-client environment, all client computers connect to the same repository on a servercomputer. A repository provides all the information required to connect to the multidimensional databasesby means of a database alias.

A repository contains the report structure with folders and reports. Additionally, the repository providesan extended permission management which allows you to create an advanced user management.

Note: If you had Alea 5 installed before, a repository should already be available. You can extend thisrepository to be used by Infor BI Office Plus.

Select Windows in the Authentication Systems dialog to enable integrated Windows authenticationfor your repository.

You can add windows authentication to a repository afterwards.

Creating a Report CatalogA new repository is empty. To work on a repository with Office Plus, you must create a project and anOffice Plus report catalog in the repository. The project contains your database connections and globallist definitions. The report catalog contains the report structure.

It is possible to create several projects in a repository and to create several report catalogs in oneproject. All report catalogs within one project share the same business databases and lists.

To create a report catalog:

1 Open Infor BI Repository Administration and expand the Infor BI Repository Administration node.2 Select the repository you want to use or create a repository.3 Select the project you want to use or create a project.4 Right-click the project and select New Report Catalog.5 Select Office Plus as report catalog type.

Registering a repositoryEach client computer that must be able to connect to a repository requires a repository registration.

To distribute the registration to all clients:

1 Open Infor BI Repository Administration as Administrator.2 Right-click a repository registration and select Export Registration.

A registration file is created that contains the information required to connect to the repository.

3 Distribute the registration file to the client machines, for example by e-mail.4 Start Office Plus on the client computer.5 Click Log On.6 In the Log On dialog box, click Options to expand the lower part of the dialog box.

Setting up permission managementFor all newly created repositories, an Admin user is created. This user has full access to everything ina repository and should be used for administrative tasks. It is recommended that you specify a passwordfor this user.

In Repository Administration, select the User Management of your repository. In the right window youcan add Windows users and groups.

If you reuse an MIS Alea repository, the existing users can be used to connect to Office Plus, too. Thereare several Basic Groups (former DecisionWare Groups) predefined which you can use to managethe access to the Office Plus report catalog:

DescriptionGroup

This group has the Edit permission on projects and can create database aliases, globallists, variables, calculation. This group additionally has Edit permission on the Report Catalog and can create andedit reports and folders.

Report De-signer

This group can connect to given aliases and create views and Alea ad-hoc reports. Butthis user cannot save any reports to the repository. This user cannot create new database aliases.

ReportViewer

You can assign users to predefined Basic groups (for example, Report Designer), or you can createnew groups. By default, all users are members of the Every SSO User group, which assigns readpermission for Office Plus.

See the Repository Administration help for more details concerning user management and permissions.

Connecting to a business databaseOffice Plus does not get the OLAP Server connection directly from the OLAP Communication Manager.Instead, the server connection information is provided by the repository.

The connection to all business databases (Infor BI OLAP Server, Infor CPM Applications Relational,Microsoft Analysis Services) is handled by Database Aliases. In an alias, data required to connect toa business database is saved. Aliases are stored within the project, that is, if everybody uses the sameproject, the connections to the business databases can easily be administered from a central point.

Alea viewsThe migration from Alea 4.1 and Alea 5.x is straightforward, as the structure of Alea views did notchange from Alea 4.1 to Alea 5.

Alea views are fully supported by Office Plus and called Alea Ad-hoc Reports. With Office Plus all AleaAd-hoc reports and reports are available in the Report Catalog pane. Users can create their own folderstructure. They can include the Alea Ad-hoc reports and the formula sheets within the same structure.

Views are no longer sorted automatically by their cubes. The Open View dialog box is replaced by theOpen Report dialog box.

To support Alea views that were created with previous versions, you must create aliases that providethe connections used by the views.

Note: The name of an alias can differ from the old naming convention Server/Database. For example, the alias that points to Local/TUTOR can simply be called TUTOR.

Note: When you open an Alea ad-hoc report, and the name of the alias differs from the old naming,or is otherwise changed, a dialog prompts you to use another alias for the Alea ad-hoc report.

Public and Private ReportsWith Alea 5 it was possible to save views as public or private views. In Office Plus, this concept haschanged. You can now choose between Global and Local reports. See chapter "Local and GlobalReports" on page 111.

To migrate Alea views to Office Plus there are two options:

• Move the views to the directory you selected as the Local Reports folder.• Import the views to the repository to make them available globally.

Using the Local Reports FolderThe path to the folder in which local reports are saved can be changed in the Options dialog box. Toopen the Options dialog box, click Options on the Extras tool bar.

The folder you specify for the Local Reports can be named as required. You can create a folder structurewithin the local reports. Subfolders can be created from within the Report Catalog pane and directly inWindows Explorer.

Note: All xls, xml and alv files in the Local Reports directory are visible in the report structure of OfficePlus. We do not recommend using the Data directory of OLAP as the Local Reports folder, becauseit contains the subset definitions as xml-files.

When you move Alea views to the local reports directory, they will be visible in the Report Catalogpane of Office Plus.

Importing Alea views and Excel sheets into the Infor BI RepositoryIn Infor BI Office Plus, you can save Alea Ad-hoc Reports, Ad-hoc Reports and Formula Reports in theRepository or in the file system. We recommend that you import the public views into the repository,so that they are available to all users who connect to the repository.

To move existing reports from the file system into the repository, use the Import function.

To import views, display the Office Plus Report Catalog.

If the Report Catalog pane is not visible, click Report Catalog on the Panes tool bar.

To import views to the repository select a folder from the Global Reports branch. Right-click thefolder and select Import.

Note: Here you can import views and Excel reports from any directory. You can import several reportsat a time. The views become available in the Report Catalog.

Formula SheetsAll MIS Alea formulas are supported by Infor BI Office Plus.

You can open Formula Reports using Microsoft Office Excel. We recommend that you move all formulareports to the Local Reports directory or import them into the repository. This way all Alea Ad-hocReports, formula reports and MIS Plain Ad-Hoc reports are available within the Report Catalog panein the Open Report dialog boxes.

Alea Formula reports can use the old server syntax, Local/Genesis, and the new alias names.

COM APIThe Alea COM API is supported by Office Plus. Macros that were created with Alea Excel Integrationwill also work in Office Plus. In certain cases adjustments might be necessary.

Removed featuresWhen we decided to integrate MIS Alea Excel Integration and MIS Plain, we wanted to retain all theirfunctionality and so make Office Plus familiar to users of either product.

However, some features had to be removed, or were replaced by different behavior:

• User levelsThe user levels Beginner, Intermediate and Professional no longer exist. The user interface usesthe user's permissions to determine which functions are enabled.

• Default views

118 | Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide

Page 119: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

When you saved a view with the same name as a cube, this view was the default view for that cube. You can save a default ad-hoc report per cube. The setting is stored globally in the repository andcan only be changed by users with administrative rights to the Project.Default views are supported only by Ad-hoc reports.

• Send view per emailThe new concept of local and global reports means that it is no longer possible to send reportsdirectly by email. Instead, you must first export the report and then attach it to an email.

Migration from MIS Plain 1.2MIS Plain 1.2 views can be converted for use with Infor BI Office Plus. In Office Plus you cannot openPlain 1.2 views directly using Microsoft Office Excel.

Importing MIS Plain 1.2 ViewsMIS Plain 1.2 views are converted to Office Plus ad-hoc reports during import.

In Report Catalog pane, right-click the target folder in which you want to import the reports, and selectImport.

If the Report Catalog is not displayed, click Report Catalog on the Panes tool bar.

You can select several reports at a time and import them to the folder.

Note: You can only import views if a compatible database alias name is given. For example, when youimport a view that was created on LOCAL/Genesis, you need an alias that points to a Genesis database.

The Plain excel functions are still fully supported, so Plain 1.2 Excel sheets need not be converted. You can still open Plain 1.2 Excel reports from the file system or you can import them to the repositoryto provide centralized access to the reports.

Formula ReportsPlain 1.2 Formula reports are fully supported by Infor BI Office Plus. No conversion is required.

It is still possible to open Formula Reports using Microsoft Office Excel. We recommend that you moveall formula reports to the Local Reports directory or to import them into the repository. The formulareports then will be available within the Report Catalog pane in the Open Report dialogs.

Plain Formula reports can use the old server syntax (Local/Genesis) and the new alias names.

Differences between Plain 1.2 and Infor BI Office Plus 10.1.nPlain 1.2 Formula reports are fully supported by Infor BI Office Plus. No conversion is required.

You can still open Formula Reports by using Microsoft Office Excel. We recommend that you move allformula reports to the Local Reports directory or to import them into the repository. The formula reportsthen will be available within the Report Catalog pane in the Open Report dialogs.

Plain Formula reports can use the old server syntax, Local/Genesis, and the new alias names.

Filter on AxisSome functions work differently in Office Plus from in Plain 1.2. Some functions moved to other places, and some functions are no longer supported. This chapter lists the differences between Plain 1.2 viewsand Office Plus Ad-hoc reports.

Cascading FiltersIn Plain 1.2, filters could be listed in a specified order, without applying operators to the filters. This iswhat we called cascading filters. Internally the filters would be combined using an AND operator. InOffice Plus you always have to use operators if you want to combine filters. You will find that, duringconversion, cascading filters will be filed under an AND operator in the Filter window of the List Designer.

Top Count FilterIn Plain 1.2 you could use filters to filter the top or bottom elements of a dimension. Those functionshave been moved to the Sorting window of the List Designer. For example, a Top 10 filter will beconverted to a Sort with a Cut-Off Type of Top Count and a Cut-off value of 10.

Null suppressionIn Plain 1.2 you could use null suppression on dimensions and on axes of a view. When you used nullsuppression on a dimension, internally a value filter was created. In Office Plus you can use nullsuppression only on the axes of an Ad-hoc Report. When converting a Plain 1.2 view, the nullsuppression of dimensions will be converted to value filters that exclude empty cells.

NonEmptyCrossjoinWhen using null suppression on axes with nested dimensions, two methods are available for the nullsuppression:

• Using the NonEmptyCrossjoin methodThis method excludes the calculated elements from the axis and executes the null suppression onthe remaining dimension elements. This method is fast.

120 | Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide

Infor BI Office Plus for Microsoft Office Excel

Page 121: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

• Without using NonEmptyCrossjoinThis method includes calculated elements. All calculated elements are calculated before the NullSuppression is executed. This will take longer.

In Plain 1.2 you could configure the NonEmptyCrossjoin for each axis of a view separately. In OfficePlus this option is available as a global setting in the Options dialog on the Calculation tab.

Migration from MIS Plain 5 or Office Plus 10.0This section describes the migration from MIS Plain 5 or Office Plus 10.0.

Ad-Hoc ReportsMIS Plain 5 and Office Plus 10.1 ad-Hoc reports are fully supported by Office Plus once the Plain 5repository is converted with the conversion wizard.

See "Office Plus Conversion Wizard" on page 122.

Using Office Plus Ad-hoc Reports in Version 10.1The navigation behavior is improved in Office Plus version 10.1, compared to MIS Plain 5.1 and OfficePlus 10.0. The List Designer selections and the navigation in the ad-hoc report itself now work together. All elements selected in the List Designer’s Structure Selection are shown in the ad-hoc report, immediately. When double-clicking an element in the ad-hoc report, the list selection is extended toshow the children of that element.

This means that the default list structure has changed:

Instead of starting with the whole dimension on the axes, and expanding the given elements of the listin the ad-hoc report, we now start with the top level of the dimension. With each double-click or drill-downaction, we extend the list definition to show the required elements.

When converting Office Plus 10.0 ad-hoc reports to 10.1 ad-hoc reports, you will see the same elementsin the converted ad-hoc report as in the old one.

Formula ReportsMIS Plain 5 and Office Plus 10.0 Formula Reports are fully supported by Office Plus 10.1. No conversionis necessary.

It is possible to open Formula Reports using Microsoft Office Excel. We recommend that you move allformula reports to the Local Reports directory or to import them to the repository. The formula reportswill then be available within the Report Catalog pane and in the Open Report dialog.

Plain Formula reports can use the old server syntax ("Local/Genesis") and the new alias names.

Repository ConversionThe upgrade of MIS Plain 5.n repositories to Infor BI Office Plus 10 repositories is done by the OfficePlus Repository Conversion Wizard.

Note: We recommend that you back up your repository database before you start the migration. Arepository that has been updated to Office Plus 10 can no longer be used with older versions of MISPlain and Office Plus.

Update Database SchemaThe Conversion Wizard automatically starts the repository update script to update the database schema.

While connecting to the repository, the wizard recognizes if the repository has the latest databasescheme and automatically starts an update if required.

Check-in all objectsThe Conversion Wizard can only run successfully when all objects are checked-in to the repository. After the update of the database schema the wizard checks for checked-out objects and offers to checkthem in.

Checked-out objects can also be checked in from within the Repository Administration, too:

Right-click a connected repository and select All Tasks > Pending Operations.

In the Pending Operations dialog you can see if any actions have not been finished and which userchecked-out which objects. Select all items and click the green check mark to accept all changes andcheck in the objects.

You can undo check-out. This will result in you losing all changes to the last check-in. If the repositoryis large, checking everything in can take a few minutes.

Office Plus Conversion WizardStart the conversion wizard via Start > All Programs > Infor Business Intelligence > Office PlusRepository Conversion Wizard.

In the first dialog you select the language for the wizard. In the next dialog box you select the versionof the repository to convert. It is important to select the correct version, otherwise the conversion willfail.

In the next dialog select the repository to convert and log on as administrator. You require administrationrights to convert the repository.

If you get an error message stating that you cannot log on, the reason can be that your server is notconfigured correctly or not running. Bear in mind that this logon process is the same as the one to logon to the administration console.

If the selected repository’s database schema is outdated the wizard will prompt you to start the updatescript.

See "Update Database Schema" on page 122.

Select the project you want to convert and click Next. The project is converted. The process can takea few minutes.

If there are objects checked-out in the repository, the wizard will ask you to check in all objects. If youdo not check in all objects the wizard will stop. Go to Repository Administration and open the PendingOperations dialog box to see which objects are checked out.

See "Check-in all objects" on page 122.

Connection to Microsoft Analysis ServicesUpdating your Microsoft Analysis Services (AS) also requires that the correct client providers areinstalled on all clients (Office Plus, Application Studio Windows client). We recommend that you alwaysinstall the latest version of the Analysis Services client provider.

In versions prior to 10.1.5 administrators could choose from these provider versions:

• Microsoft Analysis Services 8.0• Microsoft Analysis Services 9.0

But in since version 10.1.5, you select the required provider version on the Advanced tab of the EditDatabase Alias dialog. There you can choose from these provider versions in the Specific providerversion field:

• Automatic

When you select this setting, Office Plus/ Application Studio automatically selects the latest version ofthe provider which is installed on the machine.

The client providers themselves are backwards compatible: for example, you can connect to AnalysisServices 2005 using client provider version 10.

• Analysis Services 2008

The client provider version 10

We recommend selecting ‘Automatic’ provider version selection. Office Plus and Application Studiowill automatically detect the latest installed client provider version and use it to connect to AnalysisServices.

Note: If you create an Analysis Services database alias in Office Plus 10.1.5+ and then try to connectto it from an Office Plus 10.1.4 or older client, the connection will fail. To avoid this issue, recreate thedatabase alias from the older client and specify the correct provider version.

Connecting to CPM databasesThe behavior of the write back functionality with regard to CPM Relational databases changed in InforBI 10.3. Since then, write back to CPM databases has been enabled by default.

After the installation of Office Plus 10.1.6 Patch 213, it was, by default, not possible to write back valuesto CPM Relational.

In earlier 10.1.x releases, writing back to databases was not restricted.

From release 10.3, you can limit the writing back of data. This is done in the repository using a parameterintroduced in release 10.3. The default setting since 10.3.2 is Writeback=enabled. If you use CPMRelational, you can switch the setting to writeback = disabled.

To switch the repository setting:

1 Open Infor BI Repository Administration .2 Select the repository.3 Select Settings > General > Writeback.4 In the Value field, specify Disabled.

Connecting to OLAP ServerWith release 10.3, the XMLA Service installation and configuration and client connections were simplifiedand the XMLA service was integrated into the OLAP Server. OLAP Server launches the integratedXMLA Service automatically and the connection to OLAP Server is established through URL.

To migrate to the OLAP XMLA provider:

1 Open the Edit Database Alias dialog box.2 Specify XMLA in the Driver field.

Note: You must remove a previous XMLA service from IIS.

3 On the Advanced tab, set Accept self-signed certificates to true if you want to use a securedconnection and if you use no other signed certificate.XMLA connection to OLAP Server supports a certified connection using https. To ensure that theOLAP Server can be accessed by a client, a valid certificate must be available on the machine.Setup creates a 'self-signed' certificate for the target machine during the installation.

Note: The certificates (olap_root.pem, olap_server.pem) are saved in this folder: ..\OLAP\certificates

5Infor BI Designer

Designer should only be used with the matching release version of other products such as ApplicationStudio or OLAP Server.

Update Designer with analytics database on OracleBefore updating the Designer, be sure to save all business units in a DBF file. This operation must bedone with the old version of the Designer before updating the system with Designer 10.3. Becausethe complete bridge metadata storage will be dropped and recreated, an analytics database on Oraclewill lose all configured information

Import and Export of source configurations files (BDF files)To upgrade Designer to the latest version, both the source configuration and Designer database mustbe updated. Update the source configuration with the Designer. After the update, open the sourceconfiguration. This applies further updates to the source configuration and updates the Designerdatabase. You cannot import BDF files from previous versions.

Migration for analytics databaseDue to changes in multiple hierarchies, the separation of the analytics database (PSA and TSA tables)is no longer supported. Designer 10.1.3 and higher provides automatic migration for all PSA and TSAtables but not for the historical processed data. To keep all the information about processed data loadsand structure updates, backup all PROC tables in the analytics database before updating with Designer10.1.4 or higher. To start the migration, start the Designer and follow the update instructions. Go tothe source configuration to run the automatic update.

Multiple issues relating to tblSystemTableFieldsContact Support if database schema validation highlights multiple critical issues relating totblSystemTableFields. Rarely, this can occur if the Designer database was created with the DesignerInitial Script (Designer_InitialScript_ss2k.sql) and has been customized. After analysis of the database,Support can resolve the reported issues with a schema update script.

6Infor BI Q&A

This chapter provides information on the process of migrating from Q&A to Infor BI Q&A.

As Infor BI Q&A is a new product there is no migration or upgrade of the software from Q&A. Both theclient and the server must have a new install of Infor BI Q&A. However if you are using Evolve 1.2 youcan simply allow the software to automatically run the upgrade procedures.

Upgrading from Evolve 1.2Before you upgrade from Evolve 1.2 to Infor BI Q&A, you should make note of these changes:

1 The DataLink URL has now changed from http://servername:port/Infor.QAA.Evolve tohttp://servername:port/Infor.DataLink

2 The default centralized Database name has change from Evolve to DataLink.3 The default site has changed from Infor.QAA.Evolve to Infor.DataLink4 The default Application Pool has changed from Infor.QAA.Evolve to Infor.DataLink5 The default installtion folders are:

a Server components: C:\Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\DataLink Serverb Client components: C:\Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\Query and Analysis

FAQsThis section provides all you need to know when migrating to Infor BI Q&A.

If you have a question which is not covered here, then contact Infor Customer Support.

What does the migration tool do?The DataLink Server Configuration Migration Utility takes your Q&A formula and converts it to a formulacompatible with Infor BI Q&A.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 129

Page 130: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

What formulas does it convert? It converts these formulas:

• Summary Links formulas.• Reference Links formulas.• Summary Reports formulas (internal definitions).• Details Reports formulas (internal definitions).

Are my reports altered? The migration does not alter your standard Office Excel formulas, nor does it affect any referencescontained within your standard Office Excel formulas.

What items are not converted over? The Excel Migration wizard converts reports over to Infor BI Q&A. However, there may be certaincustom formulas which need to be manually recreated. Items that are not converted over are highlightedin the Migration Log file. Hierarchies will not be converted over from Q&A to Infor BI Q&A.

Note: For Summary and Detail reports, any external definitions need to be saved as internal definitionsbefore proceeding. If you have setup external definitions in Q&A , then you need to open the queryand replace the external definition with an internal definition before saving and upgrading the report.

Which definitions will not be converted over?Any Data Send Definitions which have a dependency on external DLLs which will not be supported byInfor BI Q&A. Therefore, any Data Sends such as the non SSC Ledger Import will not be supported inInfor BI Q&A. Any attempt to convert the internal definition will result in error messages.

Can I have both clients installed on the same machine? As Q&A and Infor BI Q&A are two separate applications, both applications can be installed and run onthe same client machine.

Each install contains its own installation folder and therefore if there are server components of Q&AServices and Datalinks, these are not shared.

Can I use Q&A and Infor BI Q&A Excel Addins together? Both Addins can be used on the same client machine with compatible versions of Microsoft Office.

You can log into both versions of Q&A at the same time and create appropriate reports. Q&A and InforBI Q&A will create separate query formulas preventing the formulas from clashing.

Deployed alongside the Evolve Client is the Infor.QAA.EvolvePluginChecker plugin checker toensure safe loading and unloading of the Addin for single and multiple users per machine.

8Database Aliases on Infor CPMApplications Relational Datasources

Creating and storing Infor CPM Applications Relational database aliases has changed with version10.1. SP 3. These changes affect Application Studio and Office Plus. After updating your installationfrom version 10.n to 10.1.3 or higher, you must manually adjust all database aliases that point to aCPM relational data source.

1 Show the database structure.2 Right-click the CPM Relational alias and select Edit.3 Go to the User Defined Properties field in the last tab.4 In previous versions, the URL, which connects the alias to the CPM Relational datasource, had to

be entered in this field. For example, dwebserviceurl=http://servername/comshareweb/services/dwebservice/dwebservice.asmx;Datasource=INFORPM;uname=***;pw=***;localcsclient=false;

9Database Aliases on Microsoft AnalysisServices

Updating your Microsoft Analysis Services (AS) server requires that the correct client providers areinstalled on all clients (Office Plus, Application Studio Windows client). We recommend that you alwaysinstall the latest version of Microsoft Analysis Services client provider.

In versions prior to 10.1.5, administrators could choose from these provider versions:

• Microsoft Analysis Services 8.0• Microsoft Analysis Services 9.0

From 10.1.5, you select the required provider version on the Advanced tab of the Edit Database Aliasdialog. There you can choose from these provider versions in the specific provider version field:

• AutomaticWhen you select this setting, Office Plus/Application Studio automatically selects the latest versionof the provider which is installed on the machine. The client providers themselves are backwards compatible: for example, you can connect to AS2005 using client provider version 10.

• AS 2008The client provider version 10We recommend selecting Automatic provider version selection. Office Plus and Application Studiowill automatically detect the latest installed client provider version and use it to connect to AnalysisServices.

Note: If you create an Analysis Services database alias in Office Plus 10.1.5+, and then try toconnect to it from an Application Studio 10.1.4 or older client, the connection will fail. To avoid thisissue, recreate the database alias from the older client and specify the correct provider version.

Two settings, Client Cache Size and Default Isolation Mode have been removed in Infor BI. If youuse them in Analysis Services database aliases, specify them within the connection strings of thealiases.See the Analysis Services documentation for information about how to specify provider-specificsettings.

Part IIIInfor BI silent installation

Instead of installing Infor BI components by running setup.exe you can also perform a "silent setup"in which the components are installed without a user interface or any end-user intervention.

The setup is called from the Command Prompt. Silent setup cannot install all Infor BI applications fromone setup. Instead, a silent setup must call the single setups provided for each Infor BI application.

See the InstallShield 2012 (version 18, SP1) help for further information.

Infor BI DataLink Server Silent SetupThis appendix describes how you can automate the installation of the Infor BI DataLink Server andInfor BI Q&A.

All silent installations follow the same process:

1 For (un)installs which have a UI that is required to provide installation parameters that can vary, atext file containing the required responses to use must be edited. These are called response filesand have the extension .iss. The installation media contains template response files for eachsupported automated (un)install type. Required edits are in the following sections. Save (or clone)the response file corresponding to the action that requires automation as setup.iss in a newfolder on the target machine.

2 Copy the relevant installation folder from the installation media for the product into the same folderas the setup.iss file. This will result in a folder with setup.exe and setup.iss (and an optionalISSetupPrerequisites subfolder)

3 The installation is then automated by running this command:Setup /s

Infor BI DataLink Server SetupThe Infor BI DataLink Server (DataLink Server) installation requires several values to be providedduring installation and therefore the response file specified above must be opened in a text editor andthese installation parameters specified.

The response file is located in \..\Infor BI DataLink Server\ServerInstall.iss .

This is the template response file:

Copy filesYou might need to distribute files, such as documentation. To distribute files through a silent setuprequires changes to Content.ini and Content.zip.

In the Content.ini file of a content setup, each feature which can be installed is assigned a modelnumber. The models and their numbers are listed in the ModelSelection section of Content.ini.

To specify files to be distributed, Content.ini must contain a Model for the files to be distributed. For example: Model4=Files for distribution.

Content.zip must contain the files to be distributed, in a specific folder structure. The name of theroot folder of the structure must be Modeln, where n is the number of the relevant model in Content.ini.The name of the first subfolder of the structure must be AdditionalFiles, for example, Model4\AdditionalFiles.

The content of any folders below the AdditionalFiles folder will be copied to the default installation path. For Infor BI, this is Program Files\Infor\BI.

For example, if Content.zip contains the folder structure Model4\AdditionalFiles\MyProduct\Documentation\HelpFile.txt, then setup installs HelpFile.txt to Program Files\Infor\BI\MyProduct\Documentation.

AManual installation of Infor BI ApplicationStudio WebServices

Application Studio WebServices makes Application Studio reports, hosted on a web server, accessibleto client computers through a web browser. No Infor BI components are required to be installed on theclient computers.

Application Studio WebServices requires Internet Information Services (IIS) on the web server.

See "Required IIS features" on page 21.

You can configure Application Studio WebServices:

• With the installation wizard, during installation of Application Studio• After installation, with the Application Studio WebServices Expert• Manually

We recommend that you use the Installation Wizard or Application Studio WebServices Expert unlesslocal security policies dictate manual installation.

Before you install Application Studio WebServices by any of these methods, you should consider whatthe Application Studio WebServices environment will be. That is, how users will be authorized to connectto Application Studio WebServices, and which business data sources will be used.

Infor BI Application Studio WebServices environmentFor different data sources, different methods can be used for security and connectivity. This chapteris an overview of the most important data sources used by Application Studio. Read this chapter beforeyou configure Application Studio WebServices.

Antivirus softwareIssues can occur in Dashboards and Application Studio WebServices if antivirus scanning is enabledon the IIS web application folder. That is, the physical path specified in the basic settings of the sitesin IIS.

The default path for Dashboards is:

Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\Dashboards\web

The path for Application Studio WebServices is:

Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\Application Studio\WebServices\.

We recommend that you disable antivirus scanning on these folders.

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security ConfigurationEnhanced Security Configuration (ESC) is an additional security layer in Internet explorer that is onlyavailable to Microsoft Windows Server systems.

If you access Application Studio WebServices in Internet Explorer from a Windows Server machine, some features such as mouse-over events in context menus do not work correctly. These effects canbe reduced by, for example, adding 'about:blank' to the list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer. But theycannot be avoided unless you disable ESC.

Note: We do not recommend that you disable ESC. Also, industry best practices recommend that youdo not access web applications from server machines.

Additional Infor BI Application Studio WebServices configurationThis section describes configuring Infor BI Application Studio WebServices.

Connection to Infor BI OLAP ServerOLAP Server supports all the authentication systems which can be used in Infor BI Repository security:

• Infor BI Basic users: Users log on with an Infor BI user name and password.• Basic CPM Applications users: Users log on with an Infor CPM Applications user name and password.• Windows authentication: Users are automatically logged on by the machine user.• LDAP• Other

• Encryption must be disabled in OLAP Server client and server. The encryption depends on the userand cannot be used with Application Studio WebServices.

• Use Infor BI OLAP Server Service to start OLAP Server servers. Do not start the OLAP Serverserver with the Comm-Manager. The ASWS user cannot launch the Comm-Manager automaticallyor access server instances started by the Comm-Manager.

• Run the OLAP Server server service on the LocalSystem account.• Restart the computer after the installation of Infor BI OLAP Server. Infor BI OLAP Server may reset

the PATH variable. This variable is used by Application Studio WebServices and will not be refreshedwithout restarting the computer. If you did not restart the computer, an error message is displayedin Application Studio WebServices that iCubeOlapALEA3.dll has not been found.

• You can install OLAP-ODBO driver with the OLAP Server client setup. If you do so, messages ofthe installer are shown in the event display when Application Studio WebServices accesses anODBO source, because the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER does not exist and the user"ASWS" does not have a profile.

Native OLAP ConnectionThe OLAP native driver is delivered with OLAP Client Core Components.

Web running under Windows authenticationUnder integrated Windows authentication, the Application Studio log-on automatically forwards themachine user to connect to Application Studio.

In Infor BI OLAP Server security, check the access rights for the Windows users who will have access. Also ensure that the domain users have the necessary rights to connect to the Repository and viewthe reports.

When you create database aliases to connect to Infor BI OLAP Server data sources, select Existingconnection as the connection method.

Typically, Microsoft Analysis services and ASWS are on separate machines.

Note: If you use Kerberos authentication, you can configure a trust between the Analysis Server andApplication Studio WebServices, so that Windows authentication can be used. For non-Kerberosenvironments, you must use HTTP to connect from Application Studio WebServices to Microsoft AnalysisServices.See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492140.aspx for details of how to configure HTTPaccess to SQL Server Analysis Services.

Anonymous webUnder Basic authentication, the application runs under the local ASWS account.

In anonymous mode, the Application Studio WebServicesLog On dialog box supports these methodsof authentication:

• Infor BI users (Application Studio users)• CPM users• LDAP

The ASWS user cannot be used to log on to Application Studio over the web but is used internally.ASWS is also used when assigning permissions in DCOM and on the WebServices\Temp folder.

If you configure Application Studio WebServices manually and want to use Basic authentication, youmust create the ASWS user.

See "Creating the ASWS user" on page 162.

Note: Local users have restricted access. They are not a member of any Local Windows group. Theyhave access to only a few specific components. Their password is persistent and does not have to bechanged at first log on.

Windows authenticationIf you configure Application Studio WebServices with the configuration wizard and select Windowsauthentication a user group called ASWS_Group is created. The ASWS_Group is also used whenassigning permissions in DCOM and on the Temp folder.

If you configure Application Studio WebServices manually and want to use Windows authentication, you must create the ASWS_Group.

See "Creating the ASWS_Group" on page 162.

Note: Domain users who will access Application Studio WebServices must be added manually to theWindows group.

Infor Federation ServicesUsers enter their Infor user name and password. If they navigate to Application Studio WebServicesthrough another Infor application, such as Infor Ming.le, they are logged on automatically.

Changed authentication method, Scheduled Tasks, and HTTPSIf you use Application Studio WebServices Expert to change authentication method, the web.configfile is automatically updated. And, if you use HTTP, scheduled tasks continue to work correctly. However,if you also change from HTTP to HTTPS you must select the correct binding in the web.config file.

The web.config file contains binding configurations for the different combinations of authentication andprotocol. For example, 'HTTP with Windows authentication', 'HTTPS with Anonymous (basic)authentication' etc. The unused bindings are commented in web.config.

To use HTTPS:

1 Open web.config. By default, web.config is in Program Files (x86)\Infor\BI\Application Studio\WebServices folder.

2 Locate <service name="Mis.onVision.WebServices.ScheduledTasksService"behaviorConfiguration="ScheduledTasksServiceBehavior">. Below this, the bindingconfigurations are listed.

3 Locate and uncomment the binding configuration you require.

Specifying HTTP compressionHTTP compression compresses the output of applications (HTML pages generated by the ASP pages)to reduce the amount of data transferred by up to a tenth. The NTFS file system is required. Thisincreases server capacity.

To specify HTTP compression:

1 Run Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.2 Click Default Web Site.3 In the IIS section of the right-hand pane, double-click Compression.4 Select Enable dynamic content compression.

Note: Do not select Enable static content compression because static files will not be generated.

Configuring system resourcesInfor BI Application Studio WebServices starts an instance of Mis.onVision.WebHost.exe for each clientthat connects. Each instance requests system resources. Windows has some restrictions on theseresources.

If you access Application Studio WebServices with Basic authentication the Mis.onVision.WebHost.exeinstances are executed with the same user ("ASWS"). A "Windows Station" is generated by the systemand used for all instances. With a "Windows Station" a "Desktop" is associated that provides theresources.

This is different with Windows Authentication. Here the Mis.onVision.WebHost.exe runs with a differentuser. For each of these users the system provides a proprietary "Windows Station" and "Desktop" thatprovide the resources.

The resources available are restricted by the system. Normally it is 48 MB (20 MB if Terminal Servicesis installed in either Application or Remote Administration mode). The maximum is determined by thesystem.

You can configure the resources per "Windows Station". You can have many "Windows Stations" witha small amount of reserved resources or fewer "Windows Stations" with a large amount of reservedresources. If you are using Basic authentication, the "Windows Station" provides the maximum amountof resources because only one will be used for all instances. If you are using Windows authentication, each "Windows Station" creates as many "Windows Stations" as possible.

This configuration is required:

1 Open the Registry Editor.2 Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\SessionManager\Sub

Systems.

Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide | 169

Manual installation of Infor BI Application Studio WebServices

Page 170: Infor Business Intelligence Installation Guide · See the Infor CPM Installation Guide for information on installing Infor BI with the CPM Applications. The setups must be run by

The string "Windows" has this value:

%SystemRoot%\system32\csrss.exe ObjectDirectory=\Windows SharedSection=512 Windows=On SubSystemType=Windows ServerDll=basesrv,1 ServerDll=winsrv:UserServerDllInitialization,3 ServerDll=winsrv:ConServerDllInitialization,2 ProfileControl=Off MaxRequestThreads=16

"SharedSection" by default, has the value 512. It specifies the number of resources reserved foreach Windows Station used by Application Studio WebServices. In some circumstances is not bethe optimal value. These values are allowed: 128, 256, 384, 512, 768, 1024, 1536, 2048 and 3072.If no value is entered, 3072 is used.Further information is available in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 169321 (INFO: COM ServersActivation and NT Windows Stations) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B169321.

3 If you are using Anonymous authentication, specify 2048 as the value of SharedSection. Use graphicsin reports sparingly.

4 If you are using Windows authentication, specify 128 as the value of SharedSection.Report resources do not affect the maximum number of Mis.onVision.WebHost instances.

5 Reboot the computer after changing the key. The value applies to the whole system.

Change the ASP-Worker Process time-outIf the maximum number of instances is reached and additional clients try to log on, the ASP-WorkerProcess of IIS can restart. This happens when a client logs on and cannot start Mis.onVision.WebHost.exe due to resource restrictions. It also leaves the browser open. By default, the ASP-WorkerProcess is restarted after 3 minutes and the sessions become invalid.

To change this time limit:

1 Go to c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\CONFIG.2 In the processModel node, locate responseDeadlockInterval.3 Change the interval value from, for example, 00:03:00 to 24:00:00.
