SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- According to recent reports, global cybersecurity spending is to reach $76.9 billion in 2015 as more organisations realise the extent of their vulnerability and the need to improve their cybersecurity posture. "Massive damage" was recently reported in the annual report of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), highlighting how a steelworks firm in Germany was physically damaged by cyber attack. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co Ltd, reported and removed a "Computer Worm" connected to a device on its network. Company representatives stated no harmful viruses were in the reactors themselves but will be "Hiring more IT security experts." Enisa, plans to re-focus its efforts with a new strategy to put economic benefits at the forefront of all its activities. In the UK, Government is now requiring IT Suppliers to comply with its five security controls (CES) scheme, putting security in the procurement process. "President Obama has identified cybersecurity as one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face," and with latest incident surrounding the Sony cyber attack, we must renew our sense of urgency as the consequences of such an attack on Critical National Infrastructure could be devastating. Fortunately we are seeing more board level discussion to accelerate the implementation and increasing concern of cybersecurity posture among energy companies throughout Europe and North America. At the Cyber Senate 2014 Industrial Control Cybersecurity conferences in both Sacramento California and London England, senior level Operational and IT leaders gathered to create a unified vision to handle both risk and the convergence of their teams. We also heard how Board level stakeholders were now viewing cyber security as a key investment for 2015, with the age old moniker of "Its not if, but when." With this in mind, the Cyber Senate is pleased to announce it will be hosting its 2nd annual Industrial Control Cybersecurity USA and Industrial Control Cybersecurity Europe conferences in 2015.
