The housing style DSU35TC (terminal chamber) is the preferred
solution in many sectors, e.g. in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The terminal chamber permits connection of the magnetic valve
via the sensor.
The removable terminal block enables removing the entire armature, incl. the sensor, without having to disconnect the cable. The sensor cover including the terminal strip remains in the installation,
when the complete armature has to be removed for servicing.
TURCK is the only company to offer a dual sensor
with AS-interface and terminal chamber!!

Positioning of active face:
The sensor DSU35 differs from many competitor device in its arrangement of the active face which is shifted by 90° in the housing. This design offers the following advantages:
Optimum finger protection, because the sensor "embraces" the actuating element (puck). Even in the event of icing, it cannot wedge.
Since the active faces cannot influence each other, we have been
able to increase their height by and thus offer up to 10 mm tolerance
with regard to the height differential between sensor and puck.
Open and closed position indications are self-explanatory.

Long mounting holes for more tolerance:
To deal with tolerances of the entire mechanical construction (actuator shaft, actuator surface, etc.) dual sensors of the DSU35 series have oval mounting holes.
They allow adjustments up to 2 mm.
Therefore an optimized positioning of the sensor and actuating element is guaranteed.

Mit den Edelstahlhalterungen lassen sich die bewährten Doppelsensoren nun auch ah Handarmaturen einsetzen.
Mechanisch geführte Wellenverlängerung verhindert, dass der Puck sich vom Sensor wegbewegen kann bei während der Handbetätigung (Hebelwirkung). Zudem dient die Wellenverlängerung als „drittes Bein“. Kundenspezifische Sonderkonstruktionen sind in der Regel nur„U“–förmig.
Innengewinde in der Welle ist nicht bei jede Lieferant Standard vorhanden.

Universally applicable actuating elements ("pucks"):
All pucks have the same size. This simplifies purchase proceedings and spare parts orders.
The standard puck BTS-DSU35-EB1 (end position actuated/dampened) provides the same high chemical resistance as the sensor with PP plastic housing.
This puck comes fully assembled. This saves valuable
mounting time and reduces assembly errors.
Also available from stock is the BTS-DSU35-EU2
(end position non-actuated/non-dampened). It comes in an
Aluminium housing with a top-grade surface coating (hard anodized).
The optical displays can be rotated by 90°, if the rotary actuator is
mounted in such an angle, for instance, due to space limitations etc.

Connection of the sensor Ni4-DSU35TC-2Y1X2 with a BTS-DSU35-EB1 Puck to Profibus-PA valve stations has been tested by an independent body and certified for systems with a scan time of 2 ms (e.g. P&F or Bürkert).
This is also valid for Foundation Fieldbus stations since they work the same.

Switching distance / detection angle:
As dual sensors are generally not actuated axially but radially, every TURCK dual sensor is pre-set to a fixed detection angle ex works.
As a result, optimum end position detection within the entire
temperature range is ensured.
The max. switching frequency of 50 Hz is absolutely sufficient
for monitoring rotary actuators of any size.
LED colour:
The "OPEN" position is indicated via a yellow LED. The “CLOSED" position is indicated via a red LED, as requested by many customers. We also offer a sensor with 2 yellow LEDs (Ni4-DSU35TC-2Y1X/S933).

Glossary
An electrician would say „normally open“ to air failure closed and he would refer to air failure open as „normally closed“.
Dual Sensors

Approx. 90% of all drives work with ”air failure closed”. In order to change from the closed to the open position, the actuator will rotate in counter-clockwise direction. The remaining 10% rotate in clockwise direction, working with “air failure open”. In most applications, both directions are used - depending on the safety position. An intelligent solution via 2 actuator pins of the DSU35 puck ensures problem-free operation on clockwise and counter-clockwise rotating drives

Glossary

Usually the sensor is to detect the actuating element, if the end position - either open or closed - has be reached (end position dampened). Some systems require the sensor to "see" the puck constantly, except when the end position has been reached (end position not dampened). A common reason is that a closed circuit monitoring solution is needed. Instead of using special sensors with a normally closed function, it makes more sense to reverse the entire end position detection process
Another reason for "non-dampened" pucks is the alteration of the LED function of NAMUR sensors. The LEDs of a NAMUR sensor will illuminate when the sensor is not actuated or dampened. Thus the "Closed" LED will illuminate if the ball- or the butterfly valve is opened. Due to the puck BTS-DSU35-EU2, which is not actuated when the end position is detected, this situation can be easily solved with a TURCK standard product.
